Maybe I've missed some explanation of this out before, but there seems to be some unexplained (as far as I know anyway) connection between Reni and butterflies, specifically Monarch butterflies.

Here are three examples:



The bottom left image refers to "Monarchs", but doesn't show butterflies. Technically, neither Reni nor Clovis is a monarch, though I suppose they might have connections (real or imagined) to royalty.

So, am I imagining things or is this something not brought up before?
