If Detritus is still active, does that mean that Rose is still locked out of the estate systems, and is she likely to get attacked too, for "betraying" Saria?

That would leave Detritus facing Trace, Sythe... and Mrs Nibbly.

I'd wait until the next page before I start digging a grave for Stoney.
We don't know if that destroyed the enchantment that gives him 'life', he is not alive in the usual sense, the eyes are still glowing and he was created by Nora after all.
Storywhise however he is out and no matter where they go after the Edinmire/Estate arc, they won't have a nearly indestructible bodyguard.

I'd also say that it's Trace's time to live up to his convictions and get his hands dirty.
He should really start studying magic though.

Aside from the whole, "Detritus is trying to kill people" thing, I find it a bit funny how Stony's initial reaction being cut in half, is basically "!- Huh. That's different." I suppose as a stone lizard given life, he wouldn't feel pain, but that's still a rather plain reaction, IMO.

There's a possibility Stoney is constructed along similar lines to a T-800, so the top half may continue to crawl across and smash the crystal, as ordered.
I still think Rose is in big trouble though.

As we saw in the poolside Fight loosing some bodyparts doesn t mean to kill a stone golem.
So I still have hope for for stoney. He looked more surpised than in pain - so yes I don t think he can feel pain.
And as long as he has still his head, he can be a threat to Detrius if he come close enough.

In the first moments after being cut in half, before my bodyparts hit the floor I think I also will look surprised.

I did mention before i did not expected Stony to survive the chapter. From a narrative point of view he is the last thing connecting Trace with his past, and Rose but lets ignore her for a moment we could really use a rose emote though. Yet has little plot significance for the moment, so he is a prime target for getting killed and get some reaction/character progression by Trace. Wonder if this is enough to get his dark side to come out and play?

Speaking of dark thoughts... If Detritus can snap stony in half i dread to think what he can do to Flora....

Best case scenario, Stoney is going to be stuck at the estate, rolling around in a wheelchair. And I don't think we are looking at a best case scenario here...
