Disney's Zootopia
It's been many many years since I've been excited about an animated movie drom Disney. Seriously, it looks amazing.

There's no way they did this without specifically having the furry fandom as their target audience IMO.

I have mixed feelings about this.
On one hand, Pixar's done amazing things before. On the other hand, even they've had bad movies, most of them being within the past five years.
So yeah, I have VERY mixed feelings about this.
EDIT: Apparently John Lasseter was so pleased with the initial concept from this trailer that he picked up the writer. So if Lasseter's behind it, I guess I have some reassurance it'll be decent.

Furries in Hollywood? I never thought I'd see the day..
Oh, well. I can see a metric [censored] ton of people becoming furries after seeing this movie.. which wd can only thank Pixar for. Of course, this is unless it's a massive failure. It looks good to me. And people will probably think twice about calling us "dog [censored]" now that we have Disney and Pixar at our backs.
[censored] to the yeah.

It's not pixar, its the internal disney studio that did Frozen and Big Hero 6. Still Disney but just a little different.Myperson54 wrote: I have mixed feelings about this.

I... think I want to watch this since it looks very entertaining. I might get tired of the fur jokes by the end though.
Also, its not like disney hasn't done anthros before. Robinhood comes to mind the most for me.

Yeah, but that was just Robin Hood. The premise of the film wasn't "Here are furries in a regular city," it was an already-popular story.judah4 wrote:It's not pixar, its the internal disney studio that did Frozen and Big Hero 6. Pixar has always, until recently, been a studio which focuses on telling stories in new ways and about new things. The premise presented in each of their early films is simple, but leads to narrative depth by examining the questions that arise from the premise. (e.g. How would human architecture transfer over to an ant-sized world with everyday objects? What do certain animals eat? How does a stickbug move when it stands on two legs?) Seemingly small details gave way to organic and believable, nuanced worlds in the first few Pixar films.
However in recent years, their movies have really diminished in quality, as evidenced by the Cars/Planes franchise and even Despicable Me 2, I think. The concepts are no longer fresh and the storytelling is no longer as wondrous as it used to be - And it isn't me; I can still be wowed. I just don't see it anymore.
So when I look at this, I wonder: How original or potentially original is this premise? What sorts of stories can be told here? I'm not confident there's all too much potential here, that's all. Plus, I did some digging, and besides Ed Catmull and John Lasseter, Disney Animation Studios is completely separate from Pixar. That actually makes me even less confident.
So basically it could be as good as maybe.... Up, but I could easily see it being a well-animated Food Fight, too.

Myperson, I think your mixing your studios up. Dispicable me 2 is not even disney, it's universal, and while they did cars 2, it was the internal Disney studio that did planes https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Pixar_films next Pixar movie is inside out which I'm not really hyped for.Myperson54 wrote:Yeah, but that was just Robin Hood. I think if it's like Big hero 6 then it should turn out at least all right.

Re: Disney's Zootopia
I was trying to make a sort of comparison and it fell apart. I'll try again without the movie names.
In short, Pixar had certain ways of making movies great, and I don't see Disney Animation Studios having that same talent. They can make good or passable movies, sure, but will it be truly great? Will it have the right ingredients? I'm not confident it will. I'll watch it, but I'm not expecting Toy Story.

Woah, since when can we put youtube videos into posts D:
This does seem very... furry oriented. Like at the very least they were aware of who would see this kind of a set up. Especially when they brought up and loosely defined anthropomorphic. But the last I saw a movie that the fandom attached to- Alpha and Omega, did not turn out well. We shall have to see how this goes...

Re: Disney's Zootopia
I definitely think this'll be better than that. A&O was poorly animated and even more poorly-written, and it started as a childrens' TV show during an age where that medium is dying out.TinyVoices wrote:Woah, since when can we put youtube videos into posts D:

The new trailer had me giggling. Definitely some adult oriented humor involved.

I loved Nick's animations in this trailer. But I didn't expect the main character's voices to be like they are.
Looking good so far.

The Sloth trailer was surprisingly good. I'm still skeptical about Zootopia's quality, being a kid's movie, but it seems like the character writing is pretty good.

Don't board the hype train. You might be right; maybe there will be more quality in some of the porn than in the movie.Myperson54 wrote:The Sloth trailer was surprisingly good. I'm still skeptical about Zootopia's quality, being a kid's movie, but it seems like the character writing is pretty good.
