At least you didn't need a bigger boat.

Yes a native species of shark here. Used to be rare, but now there are more and more of these (or fishermen didn't know how to catch them, and now they learn).

Usually I prefer fishing edible fish, but this is a nice sport fish, especially the larger ones give a good workout with my rod. Good look at it, a few photos, and back in the water.

Catch-and-release, then. Kinda feel bad for the fish, but at least they get something to eat...

Don't get me wrong, I used to love fishing. Probably still would, but I haven't in so long that the concept is just strange now.

I got to have a go a fishing once thanks to a fisherman friend of my mum's. Fished with him at a canal. Proceeded to have an excellent example of beginner's luck. Caught about a dozen small fish, caught one flat fish the size of my hand...ALMOST caught a crayfish.
We didn't keep any of 'em, we just released our nets once we were done.
I went fishin one other time after that...didn't have the same kinda luck...and then I've never been fishing since.
It was an interesting and relaxing experience. I dunno if I'd ever go fishing ever again. Maybe when I'm old and grey and need a simple, relaxing pastime.
