Carden remained silent whilst he heard out both Vane and Red. "Unfortunately I cannot enrol either of you to our ranks, You will have to see either lieutenant or the quarter master at least to strike any kind of a deal]". He paused and looked at the both of them, "[I can put a good word in for both of you, however it is in your responsibly to make a convincing proposal, but being Basitins as you are I'm sure it will tip the lieutenants view in your favour]". He walked over to Vane and sized him up briefly as he did so, "[ You have experience in combat, do you not?" If so make sure to state it because there is a distinct lack of experience among the young in the ranks.]" He then wandered over to the Doctor standing beside him, "[You have medical experience, I'm sure a trade of your services for food and shelter can be agreed]". Carden then walked over to the door, speaking as he did so."[ Now I know both of you are hungry, this house is rather well stocked with food. So get some of it inside of you.]" He paused just before stepping out of the house and turned on his heels. "[Once your done I'll take you to see the lieutenant. In the mean time I need to speak to the guards ]". With that he stepped out of the gloomy interior and out into the sun shine.

Carden gathered all of the guards that he had assigning to watch the house out the front. "<Now...I have not been completely honest with you, I'm not a commanding officer, I'm in fact a... mercenary>". It took a moment for the guards to process what was said, but the shock quickly turned to humiliation and anger. "<You played us>", cried one of them. "<You never asked for my rank or even questioned me. You just assumed.>" One of the guards, the youngest of the bunch drew his sword pointing it at Carden, "< I'm going to cut you down for your treachery>". As youngster lifted his sword Carden drew his bringing up to block the attack. The blades crashed ringing out. Carden locked the blades together using his strength to leaver the sword out of the guards hands. As the blade crashed down on the floor Carden stepped forward pressing his food on the sword, bringing his to the throat of his opponent. "<You DARE lift you blade against me boy!!!>" Roared Carden in the face of his opponent, his voice filled with a venoms sting. The guards reached for the weapons drawing them and waiting to see what would develop. "< You can barely hold your sword let alone fight. I bet you have never taken a life. I have, but I have never killed my own kind and I have no intention to do so. Do not force my hand boy. >" Carden ease off the pressure of his blade leaving an imprint and a few trimmed hairs. "<My actions were not treasonous. I took the initiative, something that you failed to do you whelp.>" Carden sheathed his sword and stood back, the tension in the air dropped a notch as he did so. "< I had to and you all know it.>" Although it was unspoken the guards did agree with him to an extent. "< I know you won't follow orders from me now, but I ask your favour on this. Besides it gets you off the intense boredom of the gates.>" "Fine if it gets us off the gates we will follow you.>"

Thomas despised those who smirked. It stank of arrogance, of smug superiority. He had his own share of pride in what he did, but never, never would he descend into that damned moronic half-smile. And here he had thought the Basitin at least vaguely tolerable.

Of course he wasn't expecting charity. Still, he hadn't really expected the Basitin to give him any sort of useful answer. Fine. A man with more integrity might have refused-and then eaten alive by Keidran. Thomas had a greater sense of self-preservation. Besides, an idea had occurred to him. Hopefully he could at least go back to his house and get what he needed; nobody else in this town possessed the tools he did.

"Pah. I heal your mongrels, and in return I get my life and the promise of being able to leave in the eventual future." He grumbled, leaning his head against a few fingers. "Where would I be? I would prefer to be in my own home, too many fragile things that I can't move but need to do my work."

"Marvellous! I'm glad we can see eye to eye, Doctor" said Markus, who tucked away the files he had, smiling delightedly and flicking through some other documents in one of the drawers. Like many Basitin, the completion and repositing of his paperwork was a duty considered abhorrent to abscond from.

"Fair enough. There'll be a guard stationed outside of course- I don't expect my troop to take kindly to being treated by a human, but I imagine they'll learn to swallow their pride when it comes down to it" he said, opening the next drawer down.

"Aha! I knew I had one around here- declaration of a prisoner of war..." said the Basitin, picking out a slightly battered scroll. He proceeded to unravel it- the document was covered in Basitin writings, with a scribbled on Keidran translation. Markus took a quill from a pot of ink set on the desk and scratched some more writing onto the bottom of the page before rolling it up in his hand.

"I will have Kevin escort you home, he seems like a... stabler sort. I'll requisition some food to be sent along to you- no doubt you don't care for raw pig" said Markus, chuckling

"It would be best for now that you do not stray from your house- I will let you know when there are duties for you to attend to"
Not too shabby.

While the Keidran filling the water wagon were doing so, there was a group of robed figures, that upon further observation would be keidran, staring at them from a little further down the lake, around a fire, eating some fish and drinking water. As they stared, they started talking to eachother, then looking at eachother real quick, nodding.

Before the water wagon filling keidran could really react to it, the hooded keidran had drew weapons; the two smaller ones wielding weapons actually, the other 3, larger, keidran had only fists and claws. The first figure drew a sword and the other had metal hardwelded to the gloves by tight straps. The gloves themselves were good weapons, as they were cured to be really tough, but tying metal to them to make them into primitive brass knuckles just made them that much better.

As the group of cloaked keidran closed in, they held their weapons at the ready, the biggest one of the hooded figures took its hood down revealing a dog keidran head. The dog keidran stood at about 6'9 and was extremely threatening looking, as it had ragged hair and a deep scar across his nose. "Who are you and why are you here?" it boomed with its questions, obviously serious about it with its loud voice. The smallest of the keidran, with a very feminine voice, yelled out, <Answer now, or we'll beat the answer out of your bandit butts!> it yelled in a strange dialect of Keidran that would not be easily recognized by the Wolves and the 2nd smallest said in the same, hard to understand dialect of Keidran, <Y'know, they might not even be bandits, Ra- sister.> he stopped himself from saying her name and held his sword in a rather stiff way. <Doesn't matter, let's fight em!> the smallest one yelled out and was about to charge ahead before the large dog stopped her, "Stop that, little one. We'll see first if they're bandits, then decide whether to beat them up!" he boomed out again, staring directly at them. The small keidran just growled and stepped back.

Blood's good for me...? What's that supposed to mean?

Vane dismissed this thought, and listened to Carden's response with rapt attention.

"Many thanks, I appreciate it."

A few minutes after the keidran he was speaking to had left the vicinity, he turned to the blindfolded basitin.
"{Now what were you saying about blood being good for me, Red? I haven't had a decent meal for some time...}"

Ezikiel slammed down another bucket of water, wiping the sweat from his muzzle. His ears twitched and he turned to see the gang of keidran advancing on them.
"<Heads up, boys!>" he yelled to his comrades, ducking into water cart to retrieve his sword, tossing another to a wolf running up from the lake.

The three wolf keidran unsheathed their blades and brandished them, two of them growling menacingly.

"<What blood treachery is this? I had given the other clans up for cowards, but I never realised they were traitors, too!>" snarled one.

"<Cool it, Alexander! Or I'll shove your muzzle to the ground>" Ezikiel snapped at him.

He blinked and took a step back as one of the tiger keidran with the small mob tried to dash forward to take a swing at them, raising an eyebrow and flicking his ear as he tried to make sense of the tiger tribe dialect.

The wolf, upon hearing some reason from the Dog Keidran, lowered the tip of his sword, looking to him. He placed his fist over his chest in a keidran salute before speaking.
"<We're no bandits- I am Ezikiel, of the forest wolf tribe and of the great wolven army- we are part of a war party under the command of Lieutenant Markus Hailes>" he said plainly.

"<I suggest you sheath your weapons and lower your claws, before someone does something they'll regret>"

"Aww... No operating for me." he said reacting to what Carden had stated. After Carden had gone he kept on sitting on the fallen chair, his back on the floor. After listening to Vane, Red answered; "{Blood is amazing! It tastes good and at the same time is good for your health.}" he said happily grinning looking at him. "{Go on go take a bite, it's pretty soft.}".

"{Are you by any chance injured or hurt? I can help.}" he asked, hoping that he could do anything to kill time. He stretched out his hands and spread them out, awaiting an answer.

The way he talks about blood, he sounds like one of those... What did humans call them... Vampires? Bah... nothing but fairy tales to frighten the children... but still...*

Vane hesitated for a brief moment before taking a piece of the bloody meat he believed the doctor was referring to, bloodying his hands and the wraps on them...

"{Well, if you insist.}"

He tore a piece off with his teeth, and chewed slowly, his expression brightening slightly.

"{Not bad...}"
Said Vane through a mouthful of meat, before swallowing and speaking again, responding to Red's question about any injuries.

"{I'm afraid there's nothing more serious on me than the occasional bruise at the moment. Can't say the same for the last guy I met on the road, though... the idiot was asking for it...}"

After quelling the anger that had been vented by some of the troops Carden out lined what he wanted to do next to the guards, when he was interrupted by the runner who had sprinted back from the inn, "<The...The Lieutenant..>". "< Stop. Take a deep breath then tell me>". The runner took a moment to catch his breath before speaking again. "<The lieutenant was busy when I arrived but when I left it sounded like he was just finishing business. >" Carden looked at the runner before turning back to the rest of the guards, "<Looks like we best hurry up then. Form up to take the Basitins >". The guards adopted a box formation used for transporting prisoners; however it would be effective in keeping those too curious out. A gap was left in the box which allowed for the Basitins to enter and the guards at the door to for up. Carden walked up the open door of the house and banged his fist on the oak wood. He stepped in to the house and looked at the two Basitin's "When you are ready we shall take you to see the Lieutenant." He then stood to the side to make space for the Basitin's to leave once they had eaten.

Kevin looked at his commander and nodded his head, saying "<Yes, sir.>"
The wolf turned to Thomas then, with nothing more than indifference on his face.
"[Would you come with me?]" - he asked in his not-so-fluent human, examining the doctor's behaviour carefully.
He still didn't trust him entirely, he was an enemy of his kind after all.

Thomas rose without a second glance for the Basitin, stepping in front of the Keidran. "Yes, yes, I'll lead the way." He said crustily, thinking over his new idea.

(I guess we can teleport to Thomas's house. Not much else to do, and I don't want to build a compilation since it would jump too far ahead.)

"What...?" Red said while he stood up. "Are we going on a trip? I haven't been on a trip with people that are alive for.... Three months now." he stated, rubbing his chin while he tried to remember. He got up quickly, starting to slowly walk towards the door. When he was halfway there he rasied his hand pointing his index finger towards the direction he was walking in and cheered happily: "Allons-y!" he kept on walking until his finger touched one of the Keidran and he stopped in his tracks.

"Oh, sorry. I'll just walk around.." he apologized trying to walk around but, he felt the shoulder of the other Keidran "{Why am I such a clutz today?}" he added in Basitin, he kept trying to get out, but once he understood that the Keidran were standing in a box shape he stopped right in the middle. He turned around back to the door, hoping that Carden was around that area he then whispered worriedly: "Carden.... There is a box here, it's made out of Keidran... I don't know if they're alive. Why is there a box made out of Keidrans..? It's kinda freaky....".

He stood there in the middle twitching a bit, obviously nervous.

*sigh...* "Alright, we're coming..."
Said Vane, slowly following Red out the door while trying to get the blood off himself.

"<I see that you have plenty of troops to escort us, Carden, but is this really necessary?>"
He said, noticing the keidran in their box formation.

He let out a small chuckle at Red wondering whether the keidran troops were alive.
"I'm afraid I don't know, either. Why don't you try poking them with a stick? Either way, I think this "box" is our escort... right, Carden?"

Carden looked watched both of the Basitin's as they left the house, "[Yes there is a box made of Keidran, its a standard formation to get people to places safely]" He glanced over in the direction of the inn hoping that Marcus was still there. "[it is necessary for several reason. To keep those to nosey for there own good out and to show the lieutenant that no risks have been taken.]" He then changed to his native tongue so that only Vane and the guards could understand. "<It also keeps him out of trouble>" He said pointing at the Doctor. "[But there is no reason to be nervous the escort is just to make sure we get to the Lieutenant, and they are very much alive Doctor.]" Carden walked out side of the house closing the door behind him and taking his place at the head of the formation turning to address the Basitins, "[I will only take a few minutes to cross the town when we arrive I will explain the situation to the Lieutenant and then he will see you.]" He looked at the front row of guards, who all stood ridged looking rather menacing. "[With out any further delay let be gone.]" Carden turned on the spot causing his cloak to catch in the wind behind him. The hooded wolf stepped forwards and started to lead the formation. As the box moved forward the synchronised steps of the guards echoed in the side street.

Thomas suddenly stoped and Kevin nearly bumbed into him, but before he could ask him why he'd done that, he saw a box formation of Keidran soldiers led by the familiar brown wolf.
"[Hold on, doc...]" - he said and grabbed the human's arm, looking at the formation.
He then turned to its leader: "<Hey, uhh... Carden!>" - he shouted to the wolf in a friendly but surprised tone.
"<What are you doing?>" - the grey wolf asked with curiosity in his voice, but he didn't approach the group as it could compromise the doc's security.
