Wait, that's a thing?! I thought it was just mine!

Also, "snackages" was a term coined by my mother, many years ago. Basically, snacks. Similar in vein to "munchie-crunchies" or "sammiches". Coincidentally, I also use the term "woodhog" instead of groundhog or woodchuck.

The sandwich was ok, the peanut butter tends to overpower the fluff flavor, but the savoriness of the peanut contrast nicely with the sweetness of the fluff. But it was not high cuisine. Likely wont have many more of them, almost ran out of fluff and getting it here is a pain.

Not sure what is wrong, every since december the update fails silently: It downloads the update, i tries to apply it but fails at the end. This process takes around an hour and always triggers at shutdown if i forgot to turn off updates. According to whatever logs i got seems like a C stack trace error. So i suppose they borked the update for my hardware. Would paste the error here for [censored] and giggles but i do not really want to boot my windows partition

Foggy, uncomfortable temperature (38°F)... I wish I was on an island in the Caribbean.

But that has to wait for a few weeks

(but the 'work' part on Curaçao won't be pretty)
If it moves but shouldn't: Duct tape. If it doesn't move but should: WD-40. With a hammer everything fits, and if it still doesn't fit: bigger hammer. If it can't be fixed with a hammer it's an electrical problem.

I have successfully prevented the next blizzard 'round these parts, by utilizing Murphy's Law:

I put a plow on my ATV. Guaranteed I'll never use it. :)

PC building is difficult to get wrong (but not impossible). Good luck. :)

To be fair either i am breaking everything or computer parts require significantly more force than i expected to get into their sockets.

I did have an issue with the cooler so will repaste but other than that it is ok (?)

I remember putting RAM in for the first time...

That was nerve wracking.

I've yet to custom build my own PC myself, but I'd like to give it a whirl, although I think I'll defer to some experts for my first time...once I'm able to afford it.

My hodgepodge setup has lasted another day! I consider this a good omen!

Seriously. I'm suprised the thing booted in the first place. *knocks on wood*

I fear i may be close to imminent disk failure. This PC has a 5 year old HDD, and i have no other computer, so any disk failure will result in me having to get a new computer and reinstall and load all backups :/

But does it show any signs of failure? Unlike SSDs, HDDs don't have a set lifespan. The Dell I have at work was built in 2002, I think, and it still runs on its original drive. A well built HDD can last almost indefinitely.

I am not sure where you read that. HDD are more susceptible to wear and tear because they are physically moving disk platters whereas SSD are completely solid state, sure the latter has a finite life too , as everything in the world, but there is reason most HDD have 5 year warranties. Sure you may get lucky and get a piece that never dies but that is the exception not the rule

Anyhow it has not show signs of damage yet it boots just fine and it is likely a botched windows upgrade will fry it before it dies by itself. Still having my only computer die on my is the kind of thing that bugs me at night.

That's the thing. SSDs have a finite lifespan, HDDs don't. And, in my experience, they tend to fail slowly enough to clone a replacement
