If it moves but shouldn't: Duct tape. If it doesn't move but should: WD-40. With a hammer everything fits, and if it still doesn't fit: bigger hammer. If it can't be fixed with a hammer it's an electrical problem.

Why would it be bad? Doesn't everyone do it? Specially on the holidays?

Re: Last Man Posting
It's a Christmas miracle that my main still is in some kind of working condition.
Sort of, I can't power it down because then I'll have a lot of trouble booting it again. New BIOS battery does not solve that problem.
Original plan was replacing it this year, but due to the hardware shortages and prices I will postpone that again.
But I have a few working spares, one I regularly use, one I wanted to use as a media player (collecting dust next to the TV), one modified iMac (ornamental in the living room, but working) and if all else fails I can use a Raspberry Pi 4

Re: Last Man Posting
Could it be failing electrolytic capacitors?
I've seem multiple occurrences of systems (and other devices) that would run, but would be difficult or impossible to bring back from a power cycle. All down to dodgy caps.

Re: Last Man Posting
Yeah that sound like the power management in the motherboard is not capable to deliver sufficient power at boot time.
My only computer. An Intel 7700 is starting to act up. Mostly windows failing to upgrade because windows. But i really should get a new one least i will be left daily driving my RPI too.
Fortunately I managed to snag a 2080 for the cheap si it is only a matter to get everything else, still wondering if I should go with 12th or 11th gen.

All these people talking about graphics card and motherboard models and I'm sitting here like, "XP just BSOD'd again... Guess I'll reinstall it."
