Well I'm still here, I just lurk most of the time.
Re: Last Man Posting
It always has, but its gotten worse. have a few ideas what's contributing to it, but nothing I want to voice publicly just yet.Technic[Bot] wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 12:04 am
Honestly this forum has a horrible bounce rate. If my memory serves me well, over the past year the only new person who has stayed in the forum for more than two months is, well myself.
Re: Last Man Posting
It probably has something to do with the fact that the biggest attractions to Twokinds, other than the comic itself, aren't hosted here. The sketches and other stuff like side comics, etc, are all easier to find and comment on through Patreon, and then the art streams/voting is done over at Picarto. So most people are going to be migrating over there to do the stuff that used to be done here. Plus most new people are likely to find those places first before ever even clicking the "forum" button.

No, you are the third one replying after my previous post, so I will post again.
If it moves but shouldn't: Duct tape. If it doesn't move but should: WD-40. With a hammer everything fits, and if it still doesn't fit: bigger hammer. If it can't be fixed with a hammer it's an electrical problem.

Re: Last Man Posting
clearly phpbb popularity has fallen sharply the past decade. And most younglings that might be interested in the comic probably find a forum to be too archaic for them especially In this social media era where tools like patreon an Twitter accomplish the same function while having more features and being much more user friendly.
Yet, it might simply be that I have fond memories of internet forums but I do think this platform has has things that no Facebook post an offer.
In any case I'm rambling now and then this is still a race isn't it?

I find most newer services are less ideal for long-form discussion, but that's about it.Technic[Bot] wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 4:05 am clearly phpbb popularity has fallen sharply the past decade. Re: Last Man Posting
Oh, there are a number of forums similar to this one that are still going strong. It depends on what wants to be discussed and how much.
Videre videnda.

Re: Last Man Posting
Well of course, despite being old the software is still lovely maintained (latest commit was 5 hours ago) and I have no doubt there are lots of active forums like this in the internet. The official minecraft forum comes to mind.
Alas it is not like the late 2000's and early 2010's were almost every website (with a community) under the sun had a forum. Yet once facebook twitter and all that came knocking the door the popularity went down sharply. And most younger people i have dealt with find this type of interfaces unwieldly at best and unsusable at worst. Personally i do think these types of forums favor stronger community building and deep discussion than social media but that does not mean more recent alternatives have more and better features and are easier to use.
Alas if i am not mistaken it is also finals month in most of the world that might be the reason if feels quieter here than usual.

Re: Last Man Posting
I also prefer forums. I like the quiet, not cluttered view, just the subject you want to read.

Well sometimes I do feel like the old Man yelling at Cloud change, remembering the "good old" times and complaining about the youth.
And I am only a quarter century old!
