Dark's Art Realm November 14 2016 Update

#1 Post by DarkTheImmortal »

I love photography, and it's really the only art form I am able to share and am good enough to want to post.

A few things before first photo
1) Most of what I photograph is space (although I do some other things), and I really hate the cold, so those will be seasonal, unless a great cosmic event happens, or I decide to get a picture of a winter constellation.
2) My camera wasn't made for photographing space, so the pictures won't be the best, but I will do what I love.
3) I am only able to take pictures of space as if it were someone on the ground.
3) I will try to get a good photo often, but I'm not promising anything.
4) Going off to college this fall and it's in the middle of a big city, so space photos won't be posted during that time, but I'll see what I can get during that time

Feel free to ask any questions.
Requests are fine and are not limited to space, but I will also let you know if I can do it or not.

Sweet shot of Orion!
What camera and lens are you using?
I've tried a few times to do astrophotography, but never had satisfying results.

Frankly, I have no idea on the lens. It's just the one pre-built on the camera. The settings I use though, I have it take in as much light as possible, and have the shutter stay open for as long as possible. I would have used technical camera terms if I remembered them, but all I know is what the values mean on my camera. If you have a camera that can keep the shutter open for a long time, you may have to gauge how long it stays open, since if it's too long, you'll get the streaks of the stars moving.

If it will help you even more, I'll try to find the book that gave me the technical terms and hints it gave me to take pictures of the night sky.

I've mostly had problems with the focus. The autofocus of my camera doesn't work in low light, so I have to set the focus to infinity manually, but I can't seem to get it right.

I'll try again as soon as the sky clears up.

Today's photo is not of space or space event. It is a beautiful Earth event.

Here's a little thing I did in Paint. It is a parody of the minimalist art that have very little, and it's still considered art

Updates: Changed title to fit what I've been putting in lately.

Today I did a little something different. I made a sprite (as in if from an old RPG game such as Final Fantasy) of one of the characters of Twokinds. I present to you
Sythe

Here's a little zoomed in version to show I added his hairband.

This will not be uploaded onto DeviantART, since I'm saving that for things that aren't from something else. I will keep it on Photobucket for now.
Please tell me what you think and give me help, since this is really the first sprite I've made based off of a character from something else.

Ah, cool! What'd you use as the base, the RMVX Generic Male sheet? (That's the first thing that came to mind)

If RMVX means RPG Maker VX, then close. The Ace version is what I used, but still same concept. Of course I had to add, change, and remove a few things with another software.

Flora Sprite

4x zoom (came out much better quality then the Sythe zoom)

Had a little trouble getting good stripes on. You can see slightly the stripes on the face in the zoom, but they aren't as good (and visible) as I would have liked them too.

Again please post comments, I would appreciate criticism to help me become better.

Trace Sprite

4x zoom (the blue seemed to have smeared, and I don't know why, seeing that this was made 100% on a computer.)

Nice sprites you got there. I can see a FF-style game with TwoKinds characters/setting working pretty well.

The reason it seems blurry is because you'ere saving in a .jpg format, which is a "lossy" format. If you tried to import these into RMVX Ace, it wouldn't recognize the white background at transparent because of all the artifacts. If you go into whatever program was used to make these sprites and resave the originals as .png files, they should look much cleaner.

The "blur" is also being created by the zoom-in of the sprites. Since their dimensions are measured in individual pixels, colour boundaries are going to look super sharp to the editing program, and it'll try to soften the transition.
