Markus raised an eyebrow and shrugged, chuckling at the blindfolded doctor's tenacity.
"As you like it, Dr. Ketsueki, I shall have a challenger procured for you too. I warn you, the fight will be steaded just the same for you as for Vane. Follow me" said the basitin, gathering his cloak about him as he rose from the chair. Slightly reluctant to leave the warmth of the fire, he began ushering the two of them from the parlour and the inn.

"And your queries- no, no blades. The challenge will be taken with training staves, no point in anyone getting disembowled over this. So yes, Vane. You will be hitting your opponent over the head with a stick, or rather, he will hit YOU" he said, taunting light-heartedly.

A chilling breeze gusted through the empty doorframe as the basitins egresse. Even though it was nearing midday the cold still bit harshly.

"You shall both duel your opponents in the centre of town- you have twenty minutes to prepare yourselves before we begin. I shall have a bell chimed to summon for you, and understand that not showing will be a sign of forfeit. Any further questions?" he said briskly, looking between the two of them.

Injury...?

Vane shivered somewhat, the cold breeze cutting into him a bit through the cloak. despite all the time away from the isles, he would never be used to this harsh cold...

"That assumes my challenger won't be out cold twenty seconds in the "fight"."
Vane said, with a smirk on his face. Markus' taunt bounced straight off his slightly inflated ego.

True, he disliked not using his own weapons in a fight, but accidents did happen when sharp, pointy things are involved.
It would look pretty bad if he found himself with a dead Keidran.

As Vane turned to walk away, intending to go straight to the town center, he stopped in his tracks instantly.
"{Yes, actually, I do have a question... What would happen to the loser of this mock-fight? I believe Red asked that question a bit earlier...}"

He assumed he would simply replace the defeated keidran if, no... WHEN he won, and the loser would return home, but it couldn't hurt to be sure about that fact.

Red also reacted the the sudden change in temperature, raising his collar up to his mouth, and lowering his ears a bit. He shrugged off the taunt, hearing worse insults in his past.

Then he listened to Vane talk and then also asked: "{Yeah what does happen to the looser? If it's a Keidran?}" he pondered on the chance of the winner getting to do whatever he wanted with the loosing individual, gruesome thoughts came to mind.
"{You better win, I won't allow you to loose,}" he said grinning widely and also added: "{How about we spar for around fifteen minutes? To warm up for our victory}".

"{Oh, my apologies- should you lose the duel, you will spend the night here, before being taken to the middle of camp and publicly-}"

Markus paused for a fraction of a second in his sentence.

"{-escorted out}" he finished, turning to let them see his wide grin, hoping to have given them a bit of a scare at what they thought he was going to say.

He waved a hand dismissively and carried on his way, beginning his search for their combatants.

"{And you needn't worry about what happens if the keidran lose, gents}" he said loudly as he left them.

Granted, the threat of possible execution had quickened Vane's heart rate a bit, though his pride wouldn't allow him to show it.
he merely returned Markus' little joke with a burning glare, and watched him walk away Before turning to his blind friend.

"{And I was worried nobody here would have humor... Too bad it's the wrong kind...}"

He then began walking to what he assumed would be the town center, calling for Red as he did so, and slowing down to let him catch up.
"{Come on, this way. it's better to be early than late... We can do as you suggested and spar once we're there.}"

He kept listening, assuming what Marcus was going to say. His reaction was more melancholy than scared, he had granted not a small amount of honorable deaths in his time and considered this to be the tables being turned. Then he listened to the joke and chuckled, looking at Vane not liking the humor; "{I think it's the best kind and what? Were you scared? We'd have a whole night to get out, we don't give up easily remember?}"

He still wondered what would happen to the Keidran if he lost but he didn't want to persist. He started following Vane "{agreed, I haven't spared in months this'll be a good wake up call for me.}" While walking he prepared himself, stretching his arms and listening to the faintest noise sharpening his hearing. He also took off his gloves and put them away, he was used to using his hands to feel the movement of the air around him, he wasn't perfect at it but even the little details helped.

"<No, no, no. You're nowhere near steady enough, pup>"

The voice of Captain Armand cut its way above the rabble about the training circle, where a younger recruit was being educated. The wolf was a tall, lean specimen of his kind, his fur a simple tan colour, blending with his long woven coat. A rarity among keidran, he was not averse to wearing clothes, particularly if those clothes could hide a knife or two.
Proving his point, Armand pushed against the young one's shoulder, the wolf tumbling and yelping in dismay as he fell onto his back. The group watching laughed raucuously, the recruit flopping his ears with embarrassment.
Armand helped the whelp to his feet and chuckled.

"<You're fighting like a fox- you want to fell a human soldier, you got to take a wide stance- set him off balance...>"

"<Captain!>" rang Markus's voice over the scene.

Armand stiffened and faced Markus with a faint glare, the wolf had been struck with fierce enmity for the Basitin ever since he'd been chosen by the greymuzzles as the campaign leader.

"<Lieutenant.>"

"<Got a little task for you, and your best fighter>"

(Then lets save it!)

A large, disgruntled human wearing a metal face mask and some tattered armor had gotten lost on some old, overgrown road. He only knew he was starting to approach Keidran territory belonging to the Wolf clan when he came across travelers that, upon seeing this brute, tended to run the other way and start spouting nonsense about wolves and black magic. It also didn't help his situation that he was a tad grouchy. "Why is it that this road is so old, yet there's no goddamn towns along the way?!" He clenched his fists in frustration and kicked over a tree. "I haven't had a pint in 2 weeks, and it's starting to REALLY piss me off..." The man then sighed and lifted up his mask, revealing his yellow eyes that made his scowl very intimidating. "I need someone to kill that deserves it."

It wasn't long until he saw a group of chained Keidran being given to some humans by what he figured were also Keidran, only these ones were hired to capture slaves for their human clients to prevent an actual war. The man then unsheathed his claymore and let out a loud roar before charging at the slavers. All that could be heard after that roar were the screams of those people dying a horribly gruesome death (the roar and screams were audible to anyone who is roleplaying in that general area).
Corruption is a disease
It blackens the soul with ease
It rots, it boils
It spreads, it coils
And worst of all, it feeds

~Connor when he manages to corner his enemies.

(Even though this is for RP, I actually made that poem myself!)

Threads die for reasons. When a thread hasn't been posted in for nearly a year, it's gone, and almost certainly beyond saving, I'm afraid.

We appreciate your exuberance, but please try to restrict yourself to active roleplaying threads. If you can recruit enough people who want to bring the role-play back, PM me, and I'll unlock the thread, but until then, it's best to let the dead rest.
