How long does it take for TK to go from writing to the final product

I've kind of been curious about this for some time now, but has Tom ever mentioned how far ahead in the story he's planned before it goes to print (So to speak)?

I'm not sure myself, but from what I've heard, is that Tom has written out the story at least a few months in advance before the chapter is even sketched.
