End of the United Kingdom?
Hey, so at the moment there's a lot of talk revolving around the growing divide between England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland after the results of the brexit.
For those who aren't aware, despite a 62% stay to a 38% leave vote from Scotland, and a 56% stay to a 44% leave vote from Northern Ireland, both countries may be forced to pull out of the EU due to the overall vote of 48% stay and 52% leave thanks to England and Wales.
Already we're seeing both Scotland and North Ireland feeling outraged over the results, with the talk of a second referendum for independence from Scotland, and the North Irish politics considering the reunification of the republic of Ireland as a whole.
So, what do you think is going happen next? And more importantly, what would you like to see happen?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Re: End of the United Kingdom?
The main incentive for Scotland to stay in the united Kingdom during the 2014 independence referendum was that we'd stay a part of the EU.
Now its just two years later and the UK is leaving the EU, outraging the people of my bonnie country. The other main incentive was being able to keep the pound as we wanted to have a stable currency, but now the pound is dropping in value quite quickly.
Talk of the town is we are going to need another independence referendum within two years to leave the UK and stay in the Eu. Which im hoping will happen.

Re: End of the United Kingdom?
I heard that there was a petition for a re-vote after seeing all the negatives right out the gate
If that doesn't go, I want those other countries to do what they want. England shouldn't have to force things on them

I think she actually meant she wanted to leave the UK to stay in the EU. She said she voted to stay in the EU.Butterscotch wrote:MoonSticks wrote:I live in england, sadly...

Re: End of the United Kingdom?
I can't see a better result than the UK leaving the EU, the breakup of the UK and each country becoming an independent republic and electing their own governments and heads of state. It'd be killing off 3 undemocratic and antiquated institutions in one fell swoop.
We're in a little economic bother right now, but that's to be expected when you vote to leave a major economic union. We can now negotiate our own trade deals and not be bound by EU laws on economic decisions like nationalization of industry or state stimulation of the economy.

Everybody wants to go to Canada.minime wrote:Well i'm planing to live in either Scotland or Canada, i always wanted a pet cat again
My choices are Scandinavia (whichever country, IDC) Canada, And Scotland (just because I like the culture). Because frankly, I don't like the state the US is in, and how nobody wants to progress. Unfortunately for Scandinavia, I'd have to learn a new language(s), but desperate times call for desperate measures.

I would love to right now... If I didn't have only $300, no passport, no car, student loans...schradieck wrote:Well, I'll take any if you in on a moments notice, if you decide to move to Canada,
The list is pretty long at the moment.
