Furry Tunes

#1 Post by Bellhead »

So I had this idea a while back to make a CD of music that fit the Fandom. Yeah, that's pretty much it.

So far I have four songs, five if you count the last one:

Glitch Mob - We Can Make The World Stop, seen here. The music fit the video quite well in my mind.

Ken Ashcorp - Touch Fluffy Tail. For reasons. It's also a good song, IMHO.

NIIC - Paws To The Wall NSFW, lyrics This one I was hesitant to add, but it does have a decent beat.

NIIC and Hixbi Fox - Paws Up Yeah, the lyrics are a bit.. I dunno, plain? It's fun to listen to as background, though.

And this, Ratt - Eat Me Up Alive. Vintage style metal, pre-screamo. Not sure if it belongs in the list, I've been on the fence about it for a while.

So that's what I've got so far. What would you add? I'm making an audio CD with these, so no 20-minute songs, 'kay?

Added:
Of Monsters And Men - Dirty Paws - Frogsteaks
Captain and Tennille - Muskrat Love - Warri

Mongrels - Breaking Up is Such a Faff - Rafe
Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs - Hey There Little Red Riding Hood - Rafe
El Toro de Goro - Warri - here's the list

How about Of Monsters and Men - "Dirty Paws"

A bit calmer than the other ones listed.

Well, there's the one that I did a non-furry filk of, for another webcomic

(The title of the filk is a link to the original, furry song from 1976.)

Calm is fine. I was actually looking for something a little calmer than what I had there, so this is definately going on the list.

Muskrat Love. Can't say I've heard that one before.. Nice pick. Added.

Furry music is everywhere, and has been around for a lot longer than you might think. Still, I'll go with something recent - one of the surprisingly good music videos from Mongrels.

The set up is that Nelson, the fussy, sophisticated urban fox, falls insanely in love with an extremely disgusting vixen named Sandra, despite all his friends warning him that he's only fallen for her because of her, uhm... temporary biological condition. By the time Nelson realizes this, they're already married, and he can't bring himself to leave her, and breaks into this Meatloaf-inspired Rock ballad, "Breaking Up is Such a Faff."

Being a fan of Two Kinds, you might appreciate this classic (1966) Rock song about a wolf falling in love with a human girl; from Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs "Hey There Little Red Riding Hood".

Sam & company also did Little Miss Muffet but that might or might not fit your definition of "furry".

But I GOTTA recommend El Toro de Goro.

Some of their other stuff may be interesting too - here's the list.

I noticed this thread was in the wrong board, so I'll go ahead and move it.

Okay, um.. apparently this goes in the media board. Sorry and thanks to Warri for moving it.

As of right now, I am out of reach of a working PC with sound capabilities, so I'll listen to the most recent ones on.. Sunday? Maybe Monday. Gah.

Some moderator forgot to properly tag their work. I don't have the authority to do that here or anywhere else (except my own moribund blog).

I've found that when that happens, it's worthwile to skip the first half a minute or so and try from there. The intro is a bit.. yeah. You heard it.

I added a couple as maybies. I'll go through the current list and refine it later today, I hope, and decide what I want on the disk.

Watching the images they came up with for that one made me think of the book Quite Contrary by Richard Roberts. He has several very good 'children's' books on Amazon. Mind you, most of his works are children's books in the same way that the original stories compiled by the Brother's Grimm are children's stories (and Quite Contrary messes with most of the well-known ones as well), so the *cough*adult's*cough* people around here should still give them a check if possible. He doesn't pull punches and he does a spectacular job with character development, in a way that a child who can tolerate reading chapter books could follow and enjoy without being dull for an adult.

I haven't listened to Spero's full list (I'll have to keep working on it over the next day or so when I'm posting) but I didn't find it that hard to make it through the first half-minute of "Paws to the Wall". Then again, if it isn't Gangsta Rap or Death Metal you have very high odds of me listening to the entire song, even if I actively avoid it after that.

Hmmm......about what I expected when almost half of the questions I'd want to select a few of the answers not a specific one.

For me, the most fitting one is Animals by Maroon 5.
Took the lyrics video because i think that the original video doesn't fit with the music !

Songs that come to mind are:

Queens of the Stone Age - If I had a tail
(not quite a suitable clip, but it is a part of a number of songs that are all connected in the clips)

Wild Beasts - Big Cat

Modest Mouse - Coyotes
If it moves but shouldn't: Duct tape. If it doesn't move but should: WD-40. With a hammer everything fits, and if it still doesn't fit: bigger hammer. If it can't be fixed with a hammer it's an electrical problem.

Topic is quite dead, but I just heard
Porno for Pyros - Pets (slight NSFW for the F-word)
And I thought about this topic.
