Don't board the hype train. You might be right; maybe there will be more quality in some of the porn than in the movie.
Nah, I'm definitely not hyped, just less pessimistic about the movie's potential. Hype for me is all about Star Wars.

The Final Trailer. I figured this should end up here.

And I will agree with what was said in the Smile thread, the fur animation in this movie is top notch. Second maybe to Sully of Monsters Inc., but overall, this will likely be my favorite movie of all frigging time.

Well, I can say there is some high quality Rule 34 surrounding this movie.

It takes a far stronger will to submit with grace and dignity than to pretend to be strong.

Relevant.

Jokes aside, there really isn't much to say that hasn't been said before. "So much art, not out yet", "Been a while since Disney made a notable anthro movie, no wonder the fandom is going wild about this", and of course the heated debate on whether or not the animators are on the up and up about the fandom.

All I know is that despite my interest to see the movie, I can't be brought to go watch it at this point. I feel like it'd be too random of a thing to go watch. Maybe if my group of friends randomly start talking about it, eh. But so far, it seems like I have only seen hype about this movie through the fandom. I've seen a few ads IRL about the movie, but no real reaction to it. Star Wars is still casting its shadow, and it feels like even though this is a Disney movie, it'll be eclipsed by other Disney movies. At least in terms of real life popularity. (Let's also not forget this is still meant as a kids movie, so no wonder it isn't very big. Movies like Toy's Story and Monster's Inc. only got big when those kids grew up and became nostalgic about them.)

The plot, thus far, seems like a good standalone. And so, at this point in time, I'm going to just blindly call "Zootopia the sequel" as a bad idea. We'll see how Disney goes with that.

I have, so far, heard that this movie will be about prejudice and optimism vs. reality. Disney will likely not do anything too notable with these ideas, but maybe I'll be surprised. Already we've seen the sloth trailer, which threw in some stereotypes (and ironically, the idea of "stereotypes exist for a reason"). But we'll have to see where they really take all of this. And of course the big counter to prejudice for this movie seems to be "Try everything". Leave your comfort zone and try to better yourself by bettering the world around you. Which is why Hopps is an optimist who wants to better the world as a cop, and Wilde is her foil as the reality of the world as a thief (oh but the stereotype of "Foxes are thieves"...)

Leaving your comfort zone has been seen, at least by me from watching all of the trailers, as: being brave in crazy situations (Hopps during the wolf guard and limo scenes), daring to explore the unknown (rope scene, and arguably the limo and naturalist scenes. Not to mention the fact that Hopps is the first non-beefcake police officer), ignoring prejudice to see the best in someone (sloth and popsicle purchase), and most notably the idea of direct discomfort (the naturalist scene and a number of the background scenes, such as Hopps in her apartment, whatever happened to Wilde as a kid, and both Hopps and Wilde sharing some chit chat on the lift). And that's all from the trailers. :P

It seems like Disney is sentient with this movie, as Wilde was originally going to be the main character but they traded him for Hopps. They realized she's way too active to keep her as a peanut gallery second character. Also, good lord the animation and art. Maybe it's just the parts that have been in the trailer thus far, but if the rest of the movie looks that smooth and detailed, then damn good job with the animation team. We'll see if the writers can keep up.

Went and saw it, though we call it Zootropolis here. I can definitely recommend this movie.
Quite funny, most jokes are centered around animal stereotypes. Quite a few 'Awwwwwww' moments that nearly made tear up. And Gazelle and her tiger dancers, like hot damn.

Imma guess you meant 25th of February. And yeah, that makes little sense to me. Disney is an American company, is it not?

Erhm, no... I don't know if this is official enough or the site just forgot to update it...

Well, pretty sure that's not how time zones work. Guess the executives just threw dated darts at a world map. S:P

I just checked the release dates of WarCraft and I'm like: ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
My brother can watch it one week earlier than me, unless I go back home... :x

Movie's looking pretty good so far. It has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes with 27 critics reviews. Getting me excited for Friday.

From what I've heard so far online
Spoiler!
The plot is pretty well summed up in the trailers, which do show 80% of the good stuff in the movie. The rest of the movie is semi-annoying puns and whatnot, mixed in with other child friendly humor. It sounds like it's still a Disney movie, of course. But the hype is definitely going to spoil your fun.
Spoiler!
I haven't actually heard of any of the plot, however. Detailed wise, I mean. I've heard people say that the trailer shows the plot fairly well, but that's about it. There's also two small novels out that sum up the movie plus a bit more, and they've been out for a while now from what I've heard.
