Re: Battleship
I bit conflicted, not sure how you get a board game based off two diverse flotillas into Transformers vs one battleship but hey, I'm not the director. I'll probably see it through pure boredom until other movies come out like The Hobbit.
It seems so weird though, almost all of the Live Action movies made from Hasbro games/toys seems to have a Transformers feel towards(Becuase you can't tell me that there isn't anything Transformerish about Battleship's Film Adaption) it for some odd reason, which then will worry me of how something like MLP:FIM LAF with turn out(because the likely hood of it happing is pretty high) or even...Hungry Hungry Hippos. :O Bah, I'll probably watch those two just cause.

So anyone other than me gonna watch the Asylum knockoff first? American Warships indeed. I've just received confirmation, battleship sucked the prolific [censored]. The crappy B-movie Asylum knockoff American Warships however just ended, and I [censored]' loved it.

Re: Battleship
Every bit as stupid, poorly written, and crap as Hasbro's other big budget action movies. The only thing this has over Transformers is the lack of racism, much fewer annoying comic relief characters, and I can actually tell what the hell is going on in the action set pieces.

Lack of racism? They had Rhianna's character say Mahalo, which means Thank You, when she was trying to be badass. Maybe it's idiotic, maybe it's just didnotdotheresearsh, but I think it's kinda racist.Schrodinger wrote:Every bit as stupid, poorly written, and crap as Hasbro's other big budget action movies. Okay, addendum, a lack of half-brick-to-the-skull blatant racism.Insomniac wrote:Lack of racism? They had Rhianna's character say Mahalo, which means Thank You, when she was trying to be badass. Re: Battleship
I'm only going to see a decent battle with one of the Iowas.
I mean seriously, when was the last time they made something where an Iowa class battleship gets to USE her main guns? Let alone actually having one in the movie at all.

Well, the Iowa got to use them in American Warships, but there was no motion animation on the barrels other than aiming. The blast did ripple the water semi-believably though.alex3192 wrote:I'm only going to see a decent battle with one of the Iowas.

Re: Battleship
Okay, haven't seen the movie yet, but couldn't it simply be that the scriptwriters wanted to provide a positive minority role model and just hadn't a clue about her culture? Never assume malice where incompetence suffices and all that.Insomniac wrote:Lack of racism? They had Rhianna's character say Mahalo, which means Thank You, when she was trying to be badass. Also, from reading the wiki article I get the feeling the only reason this film exists is to show off some Navy hardware... Not that I have something to complain about that (Navy hardware is cool), but couldn't they have realized it as something different then an adaptation of a friggin board game with random aliens thrown in?
I know they want to show it in as many countries as possible, so why not make it a multinational fleet versus a renegade general from somewhere or terrorists? I guess that would attract a broader audience than just the ones who found out Avengers was sold out. ;3

Re: Battleship
Honestly, like Kinuki said, it would have been a lot cooler if it was two human fleets blasting each other. There wasn't any need for aliens in a show called battleships...
