Now that's kinda cool. Shame that the Polish parliament still signed, but it's good to see a good number were willing to do that.

Okay, the idea that ISPs will be held responsible for anything their customers do online, or the idea that any website is responsible for the stuff I post on it is like saying that AT&T is responsible for everything I say in a phone call and Apple is responsible for every text I send with my iPhone. Or that Dell is responsible for all the files on my laptop and eMachines is responsible for that video I compile and post on youtube with it. Where does this line of logic end? Does it eventually get to the point where my mom is responsible for everything I say LEGALLY? Its just so ridiculous. :U

Also: Do the people pushing this not realize that if they, idunno, tried to embrace the internet and change their business model it might be cheaper than all this lobbying?

Just a thought.

That's assuming the politicians are willing to listen to reason or not too stuck in old ways or not motivated by greed.

Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers Act of 2011

#84 Post by Silver Seren »

*facepalms* They pulled out the "Think of the Children" card.

This act by Representative Lamar is very clearly not aimed at child pornographers. It is aimed at file sharers hidden under the guise of protecting children. I was waiting for them to try to pull this.

Seriously, what's with all of this attacking the, often unknowing, middleman? Shouldn't we be going after the people who actually are doing the illegal things? (Of course, in terms of illegal file sharing, that means going after 90% of the population between the ages of 18-25, as discovered in a recent poll.)
