The captured Sherman is interesting.

Contemplating whether to buy the pak or not.

Boy, have I got some story's from this game. One time I was in a bomber making a run on the enemy airfield, I drop my payload on them and was making my way out of there. My escort got shot down then their flak put a hole in my left wing and screwed up my tail. The worst part was that the map was nothing but mountains so there was pretty much nowhere to land but our airfield. Its not easy maneuvering through mountains in a bomber with it's wing completely torn apart. I didn't make it far before an enemy fighter finished me off, my tail broke loose and I went plummeting straight to the ground. It didn't end well for me.

I bought the Sherman pack ( I wanted to own a Sherman tank anyway because the US tree will come much later and I like Shermans too) despite that I did all of the ground forces missions because I don't really like the closed beta first phase conditions:
From WT forum:
QuarterNinja wrote: Ok, lets clarify few issues here:

In first phase of CBT it will be necessary for participants to sign NDA and provide us with copy of passport / ID, first page with picture.

In second phase of CBT, which will include players who bought packs, only Electronic NDA will be needed (basically click on "I agree", or something similar).

Hope this clears any confusion people had about CBT and NDA.
Well I don't want to do this passport procedure I can wait for phase two test which the starter pack offers.

Yea.... that chase didn't end well. Kinda hard to avoid a mountain and bombs with no tail control.

im still at tier two in th new system but DAMN my DO217 is friging amazing. I love the imense amount of forward weaponry, its fun going head to head with an enemy P39 & winning… four 20mms and 4 7'92 mm mgs on the front, it is absolutely devastating.

My favourite heavy fighter is the Japanese Ki-102 otsu Trollfighter. It has a 57mm cannon, I regularly destroy heavy bombers like B-17 or Yer-2 with 1-2 shot, also it can turn nicely. I mostly play with Japanese planes, they are very good at dogfighting the Zeros have insane turn ability.
I also like the german planes too, they have brutal firepower for instance the second Fw-190 has an option to mount +4x 20mm gun. It's a killing machine but with a turn ability like a ship.

If I were to play this game I would not be able to use any Japanese planes. I'd just go Kamikaze all the time.

unless in a bomb laden plane against a ship that tactic is frowned upon

I'd still do it. This is why I wouldn't use any Japanese planes.

Yeah the Fw-190s have insane firepower if you research the + cannon module. The second FW has 2 20mm cannon and you can mount +4 more 8)
On the other hand it's turning ability is horrible so it sucks in dogfights, but best first striker.

What I really like in ground forces closed beta besides that the graphic and the tank driving feels very realistic is the damage models. Shells can rip off parts from your tank.
Here is my Panzer IV H after several shots :D
