Re: Planetside 2
You need more than a better CPU, a nice GPU helps as well. I got a newer i3 Ivy Bridge CPU in here and a GTX 660 Ti. Runs pretty decently on highest graphics, gets 22ish FPS in fights which isn't terrible. Otherwise i'm getting decent FPS. Planetside is a heavy game it seems, i'm running other games at almost 60 or at 60 FPS. Get around 61 in Dishonored half the time, and I think I only get that high because I have adaptive Vsync on. Supposedly it turns it on when needed and off when not. Seems to work. Otherwise it'd go much higher probably.

Re: Planetside 2
Apperantly a good CPU is a huge boost. You know my 560Ti isn't as good as your GPU, but I can crank up way more FPS than you can for some reason. That 3770K is just ungodly. Or it might be the RAM. either way, they must have done something to clean up the game after the Beta, because My frames have been going wonderful.
Re: Planetside 2
Supposedly they've cleaned up the memory leaks.

I'll stick with my GTX 260 thank you very much, it plays games just fine besides PS2, and I'm not willing to cut off my other leg for another GPU.
Guess I'll just have to get to a store with working computers, take em and steal the CPU. (I've done it once in my GED class, everyone was idiots there)
Or I'll just buy one of those premade Alienware computers, the X51 to be exact.

You know not what wrath you have begun to summon upon yourself this day.
you say you don't wanna cut off your leg for another GPU, yet you say you will buy an alienware. Not sure if sarcastic or...

That card probably wouldn't work on my computer anyway, my PSW doesn't support "extreme" cards, so that's another $500 for me if I'm gonna have to get a new PSW for that card, so I prefer the premade.

Where the hell do you buy computer parts that a powersupply costs 500$? You can get a 1600W one for 400!
You can get a perfectly good powersupply for 100$ (750W 80+ Gold certified)

Re: Planetside 2
Eh I'd rather then just get the premade computer then.
Re: Planetside 2
What do you have? Because around $250 gets you a 600W and a GTX 550Ti. Plays more or less everything at max settings at least 45-50 ish FPS. It's what I used to use (still use the power supply) and it's what my man uses. Alienware is bad from what I hear. It's really not all too hard to upgrade or build a PC.Mr-Masculine wrote:That card probably wouldn't work on my computer anyway, my PSW doesn't support "extreme" cards, so that's another $500 for me if I'm gonna have to get a new PSW for that card, so I prefer the premade.

*Reads statements about user wanting to buy an alienware*
NERD RAGE
GTFO OF MY CAR
If you seriously cant build your own computer (Tis like lego) Then the only premades i suggest are origin pc... Whats origin pc? Its alienware before dell commercialised it... Literally its made of ex alienware employees that jumped ship when they realised dell would restrict them (I dont think dell wouldve liked the watercooled laptop idea of theirs)

2 choices,Mr-Masculine wrote:Eh I'd rather then just get the premade computer then.
A. Buy a PSU that could power an Extreme card- about 400 TOTAL
B. Buy alienware Pre-Made- 900 BEFORE TAX (that's one of the cheaper ones)...That performs less than an simple upgrade and has a small PSU and GPU just to get you by on mid range games.
No wait, I just checked all the specs. Stock: It's 700 before tax and shipping. Then if you want a GOOD setup with it...oh god. It only comes with a GT 640. Not even a GTX series GPU. And then here's the fact it's merely a 2nd gen i3...the 2120 of all things, a 240W PSU, Then the 6GB of RAM. Yeah...700 for that. You now it's alright man. You go out there and get yourself an alienware.
I'm fine with my GTX 560ti and 600W PSU with 16GB of RAM and an i7 3770K that cost me roughly about the same if not a little more than that. Not that upgrading it to the same specs as my computer won't cost you about another 1000+ dollars to procure. I checked the customization for this thing, you can't do anything but ram and storage.
But in honesty, if you truly want that computer you go for it. Truth be told I really like their cases. So shiny.

Watercooled laptop? That sounds badass.TheDragonfiend wrote:(I dont think dell wouldve liked the watercooled laptop idea of theirs)
But yea, Alienware used to be good. Now it's Dell, and Dell sucks. If you must go premade then iBuyPower i've heard of, NCIX even. Just DON'T go Alienware. It's like Apple, you're paying for the name... maybe some looks. And [censored] otherwise.

So me and Tygs are planning to start a Platoon in Planetside 2.. 121st, we're calling it. Message me on here via PM if interested in joining.
Emerald Server, Terran Republic. We'll consider opening up to other factions depending on how popular the idea is.

God, I hate TR. I was forced to play them with some friends because they didn't like NC. I'm already in a platoon anyways, if I ever get back into playing.
