Where would you want the next Elder Scrolls game to be?
Granted, this would be a lot cooler if I actually had influence on what that could be.
It's bizarre to think that the world of lore surrounding Skyrim is so much more vast than the actual game. Skyrim is one province out of nine in one continental empire (Tamriel) in one world (Nirn) in one plane of existence (Mundus) in the ES universe. Hearing about it gives me the same feeling I had when I watch those zoom-out videos that would start at a picnic table and go into the ends of the known universe. What this means it that Bethesda has a damn near infinite pool to work from.
One of my best elder scrolls experiences aside from Skyrim (heck, personally I think it's comparable to skyrim) was Shivering Isles, which was set entirely in Sheogorath's plane of oblivion. The world was rich and had none of the blank-slate fantasy world renaissance fair paste that so plagued vanilla Oblivion. (I admittedly never played Knights of the Nine, but when the big quest reward is something that's supposed to just be part of a regular old Daedric quest, I'm not exactly thrilled.)
The stand-outs in the elder scrolls series have been--in my humble opinion--those titles that brought us a unique and compelling world. Morrowind did this fantastically. The world is a den of thieves full of conspiracies that would make Dan Brown scoff, with the few sincere people working in the shadows, and I'm of the personal conviction that the Morag Tong would kick the Dark Brotherhood's [censored] sideways.
Oblivion flopped there. The Imperial Province is just the one place in the whole country that's plain boring. We could have gone under the waters of the Black Marsh, conquered the Dragontail Mountains, or unlocked the mysteries of Sumerset Isle, but no, we had to go to the one place that was a complete blank slate.
Skyrim doubled where Morrowind left off. The massive world and literal decades that Bethesda has had to create lore means that they have mold-breaking settings like Sumerset, Morrowind, Skyrim and so forth.
For me personally, I want to see a game in Sumerset. I don't want anything that might break Bethesda's winning mixture they've been refining from Morrowind onwards (TES 1 and 2 are completely different games from 3 onwards) I want to have the first elder scrolls game that starts completely out of Imperial hands and potentially stays that way. The Empire has been a mainstay component in almost anything elder scrolls related, and to see that complete loss of influence demonstrated would be phenomenal.

My guess is the next installement will be Hammerfell, in a war between the Aldmeri Dominion and the Empire or in Valenwood, with the same setting or some wood elf rebellion.
The Province of Cyrodiil could have been infinitely more fantastical even though it is the capital with a more standard look. There could have been infinite potential with political conspiracies and intrigue. The world itself could have had more unique places to visit.

Or maybe Elsweyr? Same deal, Khajiit rebellion fighting against the Aldmeri Dominion.

Khajiit trade with whoever, they're not picky; they've already got a trade treaty with the Aldmeri.tony1695 wrote:Or maybe Elsweyr? Same deal, Khajiit rebellion fighting against the Aldmeri Dominion.

I would not mind Hammerfell. To tell you the truth I would love to see an all out war hit somewhere and you be part of it. Not like the stormcloak rebels or the Emperials, More like straight up chaos at one point. That would be good. Maybe even determine the fate of whether they destroy the White Gold Concordant. I would love to find that parchment and burn that baby good. Right in front of the Aldmeri.
Truth is I always wanted to see Black marsh as well. SO long as they keep changing places to go I would be happy. Every province is so unique.
But...can I NOT be a prisoner this time? Can't i be a noble or even maybe a shop owner who's home gets burned. I think They kind of overused the prisoner thing.

I kind of want to try joining them as a high elf, just to be extra-sinister.SirSlaughter wrote:I would not mind Hammerfell. But it wouldn't be an Elder Scrolls game if you didn't start out in chains!SirSlaughter wrote:But...can I NOT be a prisoner this time? Can't i be a noble or even maybe a shop owner who's home gets burned. I think They kind of overused the prisoner thing.
For the record: I also think that Elsweyr would be a cool setting for the next one.

How about remastering the giganticness that was Daggerfall, which covered High Rock and Hammerfell. Daggerfall to date, had the largest open world map EVER in ANY GAME ANYWHERE. I believe it was over 56,000 Square Miles. Fuel, which is GIGANTIC in its own right, is tiny in comparison with only 5000 square Miles.
But if they don't remaster Daggerfall, I would love for them to remaster Marrowwind.

I'd like to see a game set across the whole of tameriel, seeing the same styled towns constantly does get boring after a while, no matter how much they update the graphics, I can understand the level of programming for this would mean it would be released long after I'm dead, but you can't fault me for wishing though
Why did you reverse engineer my Doom Walker?!

Why remaster an old game when you can make a new one? That way the overall design can be optimized for today's tech, rather than reverting back to a design that ran on outdated equipment.Envy661 wrote:How about remastering the giganticness that was Daggerfall, which covered High Rock and Hammerfell. I may be wrong, but haven't they based a game in each of the nine kingdoms already? My vote's for High Rock though. Bretons FTW. :D

Was that what you said about Halo: Anniversary?AlfaWskyDlta wrote:Why remaster an old game when you can make a new one? Re: Where would you want the next Elder Scrolls game to be?
I don't think that Halo: Anniversary was that big of a deal because halo games come out more often then Elder Scrolls games. If Bethesda wasted an entire development cycle on a remake of a previous Elder Scrolls game I'd be pissed.Envy661 wrote:Was that what you said about Halo: Anniversary?AlfaWskyDlta wrote:Why remaster an old game when you can make a new one? But what if it came out sooner? Say that it came out a year after their next Fallout game?AlfaWskyDlta wrote:I don't think that Halo: Anniversary was that big of a deal because halo games come out more often then Elder Scrolls games. Then I'D be pissed that they haven't given up on Fallout and devoted themselves to ES.Envy661 wrote: But what if it came out sooner? Say that it came out a year after their next Fallout game?
