Well then
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 is one of the best WWII air combat simulators around, featuring a wide range of flyable planes, locations, realistic flight models and a geniue physics engine. More on that here and here.
To me this is a masterpiece of a game and I can't really add much to it.
The feeling of freedom when flying high and low. The thrill when being chased by hostiles, bullets flying past the canopy. The tense when turning your hunters into the hunted, seeing their planes burst into a thousand pieces or ablaze under your salvos. The panik striking when the engine stutters, malfunctions and fails under the never ending firebursts of the enemy behind. The horror if wounded or bleeding.
The question whether or not you're going to see another day.
All those are situations and feelings I rarely get in any other game and which make it in my opinion a great addition to the genre.
However the AI and engine sounds could have used some work here and there.
So; opinions?
Anyone playing it?
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, anyone?

Hmm I used to have this game... I wonder what the hell happened to it? I don't have it now and I have no idea what I did with it.
