Minecraft!

Minecraft. Does anyone here play it?

If you don't, see this awesome video!
Minecraft is an open-ended, true-sandbox indie game by Notch (aka Markus Alexej Persson). You explore, mine into the earth, craft many tools and items, and fight monsters that come crawling out from the dark. All in a randomized world that can stretch up to 8x the surface of Earth, in theory. Oh, and you also build (a lot of) stuff, from little houses to massive fortresses, mansions, statues, and... whatever comes to mind.

The game is still in alpha, but already has a large and active community, and has made the maker in excess of a million $$$! He's definitely doing something right with the game.

Also, check out QubeTubers (a fledgling Livestream group/community) to see some live Minecraft gameplay!

I'm cripplingly addicted. I learned this week, when building the first lava tube to light my sky fortress, that fire burns at diagonals.

I'm still learning the tricks myself, but for the most part, I'm struggling to understand the layout of the mines I've found... They give me headaches.

I've spent about 40 hours building castles. On single-player. I'm quite addicted.
If I haven't done anything wrong and it's only getting worse, it's obvious I'm not doing anything right either.

I used to play it, stopped because it got popular.
I might play it again, but only in SMP.
I hate SSP.

I adore Minecraft its amazing! About the most instresting experiance ive had is building a treehouse all outta wood then buring it slowly from the bottum :D (The tree house was 60x Width and 75x high and had pockets of TNT in it to make it more intresating :D )

If you want to see the video feel free ill put it up on youtube later something this week. :D

SMP is finally implementing health and leaf decay is coming back, supposedly in the next update. I'm so excited! :D Now to find out if the issues with the SMP being bone-achingly slow are something I can fix with my server, or not...

Sorry, not going to be running it consistently if/until I can deal with the latency issues and health in SMP comes out. No point in talking IP addresses until then.

I'm just very much lookin forward ot when Notch implements Multiplayer Mode for the main mode. Have given the "free build" mode a go a few times to build some nice lookin things but the proper day/night mode is just to much fun and to do it with other players will be great!

Well after seeing this thread, I tried the free classic mode, and was hooked. So I paid for the game, and now I'm even more hooked to the alpha. Three hours of my life gone before I looked at the clock. It's a pretty sweet game, thanks for the suggestion, fellas. xD
