Sad part is, the gameplay is going to be no where near that good.

However, I am very excited for this game. Just the fact that Bioware is calling this their chance to create the "Ultimate Star Wars Game" gives me hope and excitement.

Even if it isn't, who cares? KOTOR didn't look that impressive when you watched gameplay for a while, but it's virtually impossible to put down. Mass Effect was even better. Now that they've got even more experience, It's safe to say TOR is going to be full of epicality.

Yea, it looks cool, but it's really confusing me. I suppose I could do some research, but I'm lazy. Malak's presence (Or at least I think it's malak) is just confusing me.

Well as far as I can tell, you perform quests and such. The minor ones have little impact on the main story, but the essential story line quests are mandatory and must be performed in order. Kinda like kotor 2 but with a bunch of other people

Its not Malak, its Naga Sadow, the original and ultamite sith lord. Because someone else asked about the timeline, Ill explain abit about whats going on.

All of this takes place a few thousand years before Palpatine Vader or any of that stuff. When the Sith were still reletively new to the galaxy, they were pretty much content to just live on Korriban. This changed when a sith lord with unprecedented mastery of the force became their leader and first real Sith Lord. Naga Sadow led the Sith for a long time, and rarely ever lost a battle. Eventually (Im skipping a lot of crap to get to the important parts) Naga Sadow fled beyond charted space and other leaders like Ludo Kresh led the Sith.

About a thousand years pass and the Sith are no more, but the Mandalorians are causing trouble for the Republic, and Revan and Malak decide to do something about it. During the fight, the two of them begin to fall to the dark side, and rekindle the spark of the Sith. The events of kotor1 happens, and leaves Malak dead and Revan no longer a sith, but running to the edge of the galaxy to combat some great evil he just remembered about.

some time passes and three other jedi discover a fondness for the darkside and become sith. Darth Scion, Darth Treia and I forget the last one |D . But this is where kotor 2 takes place. Rushing to the end of that, all three sith lords are now dead or renounce the dark side. Now we reach the events of TOR, a couple hundred years after kotor2

An important note is that with both Revan and Malak and the three sith lords after them were just Jedi who discovered the dark and decided to use it. None of them were part of the true sith empire, the one founded about a millenia prior. Now The Jedi order is just being officially brought in as the defenders and Spiritual mind of the Republic. Out of nowhere, Naga Sadow shows up from uncharted space with a large Sith force and starts a bloody war with the Jedi. It seems he and the Sith closest to him went into hiding after his last defeat and decided to get stronger in ways of the force in order to combat and defeat the Jedi. He also seemed to be the first and possibly only Sith to discover eternal life through dark rituals and rites. (It is believed that Palpatine also found out how to become immortal, but Vader killed him so it doesnt matter)

Now hes here and wreaking Jedi face with his 1,300 year old knowledge of the Force, and he is bringing back the true Sith order. Theres more going on, but I think this post is big enough, and has more than enough StarWars lore / nerdy-ness
