Fooby's Thread (music is art, right?)

#1 Post by FoobyKamikaze »

So... yeah. I like taking pictures. Photography is fun when you go somewhere and have things outside your daily life to take pictures of. Like when you go on a trip to Japan!

I went for two and a half weeks over the summer (in case you didn't see in the multiple places I've mentioned it), and took a good 1337 pictures (no, seriously). I went ahead and combed out all the less-than-good ones, and then a second run-through to keep the best.

I'm going to be hosting them (as well as the rest of the pictures I've taken/will be taking) on my deviantArt, so you can check there if you want. But I'll link you from here as well, so you don't have to go hunting.

I plan on uploading a set every few days. After the second run-through, I grouped them into several sets of 3-7ish, so not everything's going up at once. For one, no one's going to look at a 50+ gallery in one sitting; and two, I need to give the illusion that I'm active in my picture taking .-.

I'll start off with these three taken the first day.

I like the last one best.

Very nice pictures, looking forward to see more of them :) . The vending machines (this style) are typical for Japan, me thinks (I went to Okinawa in summer of 2007). Definetly, as are the good number of sings xD .

Couldn't find one of those 'used schoolgirl-panties' vending machines, eh?
It's probably for the best.

Nice pics.
And so it was that Godhead Pickle Inspector created the universe. He regarded His creation with fondness and saw that it was good.

Nice pics.
A friend of mine asked for that exact picture before I left.
So I was lookin' D: Turned up empty-handed. Or is that empty-camera'd?

...Feh.
The weirdest vending machine I saw was an umbrella machine. Which isn't that spectacular, but I have a picture of it.

EDIT: New set. From Sumiyoshi Shrine.

The last photo resembles Shisa a bit. (It's the name for a sort of Guardian spirit in Okinawa; you see those statues and models everywhere O o).

My fave would have to be the fancy phone booth at the temple...
XD

I like these pics - they're a combo of "tourist" pics and "slice of life" pics - the views of signs and people walking along the street - stuff you expect to see and stuff that shows how things really are...
I also like whatever settings you're using on your camera - everything looks exactly like it would if you were looking at it - no effects and no making them slick and shiny - I like the realism...

I wasn't using any effects, honestly. I think I just have a nice camera xP
...OK, I used macro-zoom on a few of them >.>

And since Tuna posted, YAY! I can update!

After looking through a few of these: I take back what I said about "nice camera." It's only good during the day =\

I know, I know.
Maybe what I said didn't come out right.

There were also booths that had craploads of fishies and craploads of baby crabs. :3

Yo freakin' dominated at those things. I failed instantly but she easily grabbed 20 or more before her net died.

Did you just stay in Osaka (I'm guessing based on what wikipedia says about the shine.) or go elsewhere?

I visited Kyushu last November... spent a day in Fukuoka then spent some time travelling around the Saga Prefecture. Some beautiful landscapes... and the hot springs were nice. =P (Just under a year later and I still haven't finished going through all the photos yet. >.<)

Edit: ooh... 100th post! |D

We spent the bulk of our time in Osaka.
We took a one-day trip to Kyoto. Then went to Tokyo, with sidetrips to Harajuku, Asakusa, and Akihabara (when I get to the Akihabara pictures... x3 it was my favorite part of the trip)

Then Nagano for a few days, back to Osaka, then all the way up to Miyazaki. Left 4 days later.
Hoh boy... the last day was so hectic. XD
