My half of an art trade to Pebbles, its their character, Catana. Inspired from the initial shoulder-up references. Done with nib pen with some slight color and clean up from photoshop.

Hair on a wild animal looks goofy, but I was getting bored with the original base. Backside view mostly meant for pattern guide as the colors don't properly match up.

Sketch dump that's mostly focused on Zao and Kanti. Zao's feral/fight mode has been somewhat upgraded a bit to actually resemble a tiger. That said, some of poses are bugging me a bit, second opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Finished one of the sketches from the earlier sketch dump. It's one of those pictures where experimenting took center stage. . .The tip of Zao's tail glows aqua-y when near a prominent source of Mana.

Yup it's a subtleseed. Don't worry, Zao's tail is just having a chain reaction or something like that. Should probably make a pic explaining it.

Ha, a glowy tail when near mana. That could come in handy on a mana hunt . It came out well, nice colouring, especially on the fur. It looks so fuzzy I just wanna glomp 'em.

*nods* Uh-Huh Very good for spotting manastone locations(assuming they occur naturally) picking up spell activity and determining when a given area's mana source has run dry. The prior two need some practice and concentration, while the third occurs subconsciously as the tip darkens and a foreboding red burns at the edges.
Also Thanks for the compliment, the fur was the funnest part.

EDIT: This update is admittedly rushed.

This was inspired by page 551, and all this talk about Trace possibly turning into a Dragon or Demon or something. But mostly this comment:

Sure! It would be very strange if he would be completely transformed. The comic wouldn't be the same with a monster Trace.

I was gonna post this directly in said thread but I got all shy. . . It was fun to draw considering that--yes, a full transformation would be unlikely. I originally intended this to be more lovey-dovey, but fully corrupted Trace ended up all melancholy.

There's a bunch of artsy stuff I can say about this, but I think I'll shut up and leave it up to audience interpretation.

With my track record, Demon Trace is probably as fearsome as a puppy.

And Well, Flora is supposed to be a strong-willed romantic. This picture can also be seen as metaphorical. With her falling in love with a viscous killer in-canon
