It's large, but probably not nearly enough. Then again, we need to teach a lot of it to ourselves =3

Thanks Blind.

hand painting fire!
ok well Paint Shop Pro stuff is a run down version of photoshop basically- so your limited and i really dont know by how much-- so i cant say "just do this this and this and it should look good" nor can I point you to some amazing "create fire with anything better than MS paint!"
I can say though there are several key partsto fire and glow effects-- anything that glows should have more than one layer and at least one of them should be using a blend layer like Screen-- if an object is really bright it will be WHITE at the center-- even a black light looks very white in the center (though the bulb is very dark and makes it hard to tell as much)
This is because light is additive- the brighter something is the more white- this is why suns are rarely actually just an orange dot in the sky-- the area where the light is the "thickest" should be white-- and then go to reds and orange and yellows-- not in that order all the time...
Screen only works on colors other than White and bright colors-- so its best to have most of the image set up before you do the fire.

Oh and flames have a randomness to them-- dont make em look like the same shape over and over again-- also the blue you see in most fire- its not really needed- unless your doing a close up or an extremely realistic fire--- the point is the blue is often hard to place or is hard to determine how much and how little will be added to the areas...

Dont know if that helps but really tutorials might help-- then again they might just make your art or whatever look very "blah" than original...

Re: A question.

#10 Post by Sage »

Dorito Monk wrote:'Ello there. I'm really not a talented 2D surface artist. My Zombie doodle is about as artistic as I get when it comes to pencil and paper. Pretty much the only artistic talent I have is painting models, scenery, etc. Real, holdable, 3D stuff. Is that acceptable to post? I just want to make sure.
Do you mean painted models as in, premade models such as from Model kits, warhammer, D&D Figures etc--- or things like Maquettes, models made from sculpty and or even clay...

Model kits like airplanes, gundams, cars- that really doesnt belong here unless they are really original and painted in such a way that its really artistic (spray paint or solid single color wont cut it)

Things like Warhammer figures would be fine as long as it is interesting- like something you would enter into a contest, not something painted just to play the game.

Maquettes-- yes- Maquettes are really fun to make -- they would be more than welcome here.

That answer your question?

Sorry about the dead links. It's an old list. I'll go though them then edit my post.

Edit: I have checked everything up to scenery and weather. I will check the rest in a bit.
