I'm absolutely lost as to what just happened.

Av: Which of these am I supposed to take? They all look pretty much the same. And also, my 33k bars are due to the fact that I same them at 100% quality on Photoshop. Most computers are quick enough to load them reasonably fast, so I don't really care much for sizes. If you could give me a way or reason to cut the sizes down, I still have those original PNG files...

It doesn't really make a difference which one you use really...Pick your favorite format, if you boil Sage's comments down to their core, that's the advice you get. Being schooled as a computer programmer and not an artist, I never got the love for the JPG format that's evidently born in them, despite knowing how to write the Huffman encoding scheme that JPEG uses, so I lean toward PNG, but based on these numbers, it's mostly a matter of personal preference here.

The reason I tweak these this much (and since it takes just a few seconds from the "Save For Web" dialog there's no down side), is because I've long been of the school of thought to optimize as heavily as possible for people on lower end systems and connections. In addition, I'm not Photobucket: my bandwidth is not unlimited, so it's in my best interest to keep the filesizes down. But when we're looking at 5K, it doesn't matter. Most PHP files that I write end up bigger than that.

For the record, this is stock Photoshop 7 (when I've paid off credit cards and have some fun money, then I'll be looking at picking up whatever the latest version at that point is, if only for the improved way it'll work with Flash). Shade, something that's causing you issue here is that the GIMP is (how to put this without resorting to a pun...) somewhat lacking in the text handling department. As the for the rest, I haven't used the GIMP enough to offer a lot of advice.

Glad you like them, Eternal Wanderer. After Sage's reception, I was just going to take them down, since even he, supposedly the biggest Karen fan of all, must have not cared enough for her to appreciate the effort...

I wont accept a Userbar of Karen that does not do her justice! I will not insult her greatness by using such a simple glimps of her awe inspiring hawtness!

The text is okay though. It adds another layer so you can rotate or do whatever the hell you want with it before moving it to the background. It's okay only if you have the texts installed. (Eg: "Australian Sunrise" isnt very popular and not too many people have it. I have just about everything.)

You've officially called it huh? Looks good. next time we can put some actual relationship ones for main characters. It's a great start to a new future; Twokinds Relationship bars (i guess)

There are far too few shots of Laura where she isn't sad-looking, or Keith where he isn't mad or flustered. I quite like how Alaric turned out, if I do say so myself (Ha! Self-praise; beat that!). Please feel free to ask for specific 'ships so I know what to make. Eventually, the hope is to have a userbar for (almost) every character and 'ship bars by request.

nice! my fav is the kathrin fan one you made.
Its just the text on the sandwich ones though. I dont really like the text style AS Sandwich, eg: something Sandwhich. it stands out.

Other then that its great.

Think of this as my semi-on-time Christmas present for everyone (some'll end up being, like, New Years presents, but oh well). I guess everyone's out with their families and the like, resulting in a slow day on the forums (don't feel sorry for me, or anything; our family did everything yesterday ... and four days from now).
