Jedi Can...Draw???

Well, kind of. Not really.
Spoiler!

Yes the nose bridge is huge, I'll work on it.

The long story short is I wanted to get off my [censored] and start working on a skill that I -want- to have, but have frequently discouraged myself out of. I eventually got fed up / inspired enough to try and start burning through it, so I'm making myself try and draw something every day, to start whittling that edge. This is day three, and the first work I've done marginally free-hand that I'm actually...really happy with. No it's not great, but it's a lot better than I expected it to turn out.

Feel free to critique / rip apart. If you guys want, I can show you the other things I've done 'til this point (An Arwing and some Undertale art), but I'll try and post what I get done so that I at least have someone besides myself holding me accountable.

Rock on, mates.

Not too bad. Maybe you're the type who can improve well enough after enough practice.

But as a hobby level of skill, I'd say you're about there.

Well, sure, but I do want to get better. I mean I am noticing an improvement in my stroke-method, and loosening up my arm as I sketch. I have every intention to keep practicing. I'd like to get comfortable / strong enough that I can draw things I want to draw, well. Y'know?

Huh, I didn't know you could draw. :P

Honestly, apart from the nose bridge, which you've already noted, it looks pretty good. Especially for it being just the third day of drawing something.

Please do. I'd definitely like to see what else you've got.

That way you can finally draw cover art for your stories?

It's much better than what I can draw. I can only convey the images in my head to others through words, I don't have the skills for drawing.

Hmmm......about what I expected when almost half of the questions I'd want to select a few of the answers not a specific one.

i wish i can go over all the stuffs about face/body construction, but it;s very confusing for me to compile.
maybe i might contribute some tips and suggestions?

the first thing i noticed was the shoulders look flat. basically running in a straight line
but if you look at your avatar, the shoulders run on an angle and forms a triangle connecting to the neck

so maybe next time you could draw the shoulders to be more triangular and not completely straight.

Wow, that's actually really helpful! I appreciate that!

Some history: I actually didn't use my avatar as a reference, I used some other artwork I'd had done. What's more, I had originally intended to only do the face / head as the focus of the piece, but wound up 'finishing' it with the rest of the bust after the fact. Hence the straight-line look. Trapezius is important! I should look more at my own body for that, mine is very pronounced.

But, I appreciate the angles and inspection! I'm actually looking through the 'Tutorials' sticky thread to read up and study.

Hey, I never specified that Jedi could draw well, so technically the thread's title isn't a lie.

Also hey Schro! Long time no see.

It's not bad for someone who "constantly discourages them self out of it". As I always say(and have said for awhile now):

KEEP
CALM
AND
DRAW!

Most of the things you can work on have been pointed out though so apart from that as practice, try to draw from 3 dimensional perspectives and that should help you improve as well. I've probably said this in another thread but try new things and don't worry if it doesn't look good. :D
