Feli's "crit mah shiz!" Art Thread.

#1 Post by Felidire »

I'd like to try making a webcomic at some point, but I lack consistency and a bit of skill.

I'll occasionally post some of my art here for feedback/critique.
Hopefully it helps~

Wow. This is awesome. The neck seems a wee bit long, but otherwise everything looks perfect. :)
The tail looks really fluffy. :3

March 14. Has 4 posts.

And terrific art. Seriously, going by quality alone, I wouldn't say no. Though I heard that art requires dedication most of all.

I never particularly liked this character (I've always thought she was a little turd, lmao!)
So, I made myself draw her for some shading practice, and yeah, I actually like her much more now. xD

There's a bunch of stuff wrong with it, but i'm only really concerned with the shading; I've never been able to cell-shade, and I have no grasp on lighting whatsoever! (I can't seem to hard-shade using only one color. Whenever I try, I always end up habitually smudging the crap out of the edges - as you can see on the cheek.)

I'll link the untextured version, incase anyone else wants to practice shading (or even better, if someone with a firm grasp at shading wants to show us how it's properly done!) XP

Looks good, but you have light coming from two directions.

So i'm trying to design a caracal/ocelot character. I still have to figure out a facial pattern that I like and what
not, but which eye color do you guys think would be the most fitting for quirky, childish short-tempered thief?

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/ ... 6032fc.jpg

(I'm the most indecisive person ever. I could stare at 2, 3 and 5 for hours.) >>;

-Blue looks too goody-goody.
-I don't think i've ever seen a caracal or an ocelot with orange eyes.
-I have the tendency to give everything green eyes.

The #2 is the best IMO.

Of course, we might be getting influenced by another blue-eyed feline around here... :kathrin:

But yeah, 2 is best overall, though I did find 3 interesting as well.

Lol, it's hard not to be influenced by them when you're looking at them every other day. (I was more worried that it might start looking like flora, and then i'd have to start from scratch!) XD

and I suppose it doesn't help that i'm a novice 'artist' with an unrefined style, who's using the comic as a source of inspiration for improvement. If it keeps up, then my art style is probably going to veer largely in the same direction for a time.

Natani sketch practice! <3

I guess that's why it's important to take frequent breaks while learning to draw, really helps things to sink in~

Man, this is epic. Nat would totally say those things.
