ticoun's darkroom & gallery 10/8/15 [Anubis]
I'm still new to this forum, and I wanted to show my works to all of you guys so I can get some additionnal feedback. And it's also for showing off.
I'm mainly a photographer. I've done a bit of drawing, but I totally suck at drawing anything living, and I'm not that good at objects either, so you're not gonna see a lot of drawing in that thread.
I also do some calligraphy with Italic and flexible nibbed fountain pens, but I don't take enough time to practice, so for the moment I only have a single piece with calligraphy.
(I'm quite open to calligraphy requests, that would get me to practice.)
First, I'm gonna start with a little flashback. We're in january of this year and I've just made a deviantART account because of one of my rl friends, which is an amazing artist. (Her DA account here) First thing I tried, not having a decent camera yet, is drawing and calligraphy. After a whole evening of work, this was created:

Re: ticoun's art (mainly photography) thread!
Thanks Maskmaker!
It's now time for part two of the flashback. We're in february, and I decided to give photography a try even if I still had a crappy camera. I made a curved background, set up some old dip pens, lit the thing up with my desk lamp, and started shooting. The color balance was terribly off, but a quick sepia did the trick.

I've got some real good feedback on this picture on DA and on other forums, so I decided to get a better camera and start doing photography as a serious hobby.

Time for part three of the flashback! We're now in March, and I had a trip to a nearby zoo with my school. There's no better place to try out a new camera than a zoo!

I love that picture of those muskox! Were they eating the snow?
Also, this is a zoo? While I can see the two birds have cages, I've never seen muskox given a giant space like that!

They were fighting just before I took this picture. It's a zoo, but not a conventionnal one. It's a "wild zoo", most animals have really big spaces in which they live. The muskoxen were in the "Nature Trail", a huuuuge open space with forest, plains, a lake, and in which a train (more like a rolling cage!) brings the visitors to see the bears, deer, elks, mooses, buffalos, muskoxen and wolves.Chaosye wrote:I love that picture of those muskox! This zoo doesn't have exotic many animals, only animals that live in the boreal forest.
Now, the Siberian tigers!

I like classic cars a lot, so I'm probably gonna post a few of my favourites on this thread.

Another of my favourites. The pen is a 1950's Sheaffer Snorkel Sentinel. The text is the lyrics of Pink Floyd's Time.

I bought myself a new lens in June because I couldn't stand the chromatic aberration of my old Haminex anymore. I ended up buying a brand new Sigma 70-300mm ƒ/4-5.6 APO DG Macro telephoto zoom lens.
Here are some pictures shot with this puppy.

These are really cool! I think my favorite is that watch and pen, though. I saw it a few days ago when I passed through here, but never noticed the description you put above it. That actually just makes me love it more.

Right now I've pretty much posted here all of my current "best shots" (though I may post a few cars, I've got some good ones), so updates will come as I shoot new stuff.

Re: ticoun's photography thread! 23/7/12 (Classic Cars!)
Time for a quick update! Here's a shot I took monday, and it has become my most popular classic car picture on deviantART.
It's a car not many people have heard of outside of canada.
http://fav.me/d58sqs1
This is a 1968 Beaumont. The Beaumont started out as a model of Acadian, a canadian General Motors brand, then in 1966 Beaumont became a brand of its own. The Beaumont was based on the Chevy Chevelle.

It's update time!
This update is unusual for me, as it's a drawing. As I've explained in the first post, I can't draw anything living... But I can draw objects pretty well if I take the time! Like this Sheaffer Snorkel Saratoga fountain pen I drew this spring and finally decided to scan today. Enjoy!
