When you do get pictures up I'll make sure to check them out! Also, the shoulders aren’t rounded because of the jacket he is wearing. It’s supposed to be like one of the leather ones where the shoulders come down at an angle.

I was kind of unhappy with my Natani drawing, so I decided to re-draw it from scratch. I still have some things that I don’t like about the new one, now that I’m looking at it finished. The biggest thing I’m unhappy with is the face, but no matter how much I played with it I couldn’t get it to look better than it looks now. The shoulders are STILL too broad (a great thing to notice just before you post it) but her overall figure is more curved, which helps. And the final thing is that her breasts are too small, and that’s not just me being :eric: ….
Anyways, enough talk. Here it is:

I’m not totally happy with this one either, but it does make good practice.

some advice from me. personally i think flora is easier to draw because she doesn't have a dog-like nose that sticks out so maybe you should try drawing flora and it's also easier (at least for me) if they are clothed

For me its easier this way as well, but it is also nice to have some practice drawing body parts =D
(No, I didn't mean it the perv way xD)

Bluecore and Xamali suggested that I try drawing Flora, so I did! This was the first time playing with shading, and I’m not sure I really knew what I was doing… but I did it anyways so here it is…

I think her torso is a little long, and the left leg is a little derpy. I really like how the face came out, and overall this was probably the most fun, interesting one I’ve done yet.

Wow, that was really good, and the shades were good as well.
The only thing I noticed is that her breasts a bit too big, remember, most people call her "flat chested" :P .
Not that I mind though :D~ . Excuse me, I'm going to get a pervbox for that comment xD.

For this one I decided to do one of the characters from the story I’m working on, New World. (Which you should probably go read sometime! Link is in my sig…) I did this kind of fast, so it’s nothing really complicated. I also used this to learn how to use paint tool SAI, which I decided to use from now on instead of Photoshop.

Enough talk, here is Jester from New World.

So I’ve been trying to do something with longboarding for a long time, and so far I’ve been unsuccessful. I’ve always gotten really frustrated pretty quickly, but I think now I’m going to man up and keep at it until I get something longboard related worth posting. Wish me luck! (If I don’t post in the near future it is because I will have torn out my eyes in frustration.)

please take no offence in this, I'm just telling it like it is.

take some drawing lessons...
your pictures are flat, atatomically incorrect, and
overly cartoonish.

I appreciate the honesty (even if it is a little blunt) and totally get where you are coming from. I have signed up for art classes this year in school, (which starts tomorrow :( ) and I’m going to try to really step up as far as improving my art goes. When I started a couple weeks ago I planned on using the last few weeks of summer as kind of an experimentation phase, since I was so unfamiliar with not only drawing in general, but also with using a tablet and the drawing software. Now that I’m going to be getting instruction my focus is really going to swing towards improvement.
As far as the “too cartoony” thing goes, while I see where you are coming from (and kind of think the same myself,) isn’t the level of “cartoonyness“ really up to the person drawing? It seems more like a style choice to me, but that’s just my opinion. Also, if you have any critiques that involve specific drawings please please PLEASE post them! I love feedback, but it MUST be specific for me to see the mistake and improve upon it! The only drawing I wouldn’t really like feedback on is my latest because it was something I did quickly just because I was bored and needed to learn how to use SAI, and the only reason why I posted it was because it had been a while since I had put a drawing up. (and with school starting it might be a while before another update too. :| )
Getting back to the point, thanks for the feedback, for the most part I feel the same way, and I hope that I will post something that makes you change your mind (at least a little bit) in the near future…

I don't sugar coat truths. too many diabetics...

as an example, natani's torso is too long.

take da vinci's advice and measure using the body its self.

a torso should be as long as the shoulder to the elbow, and
the forearm should be the same size.
add a quarter of size to both peices for the legs, so the thigh to the
knee should be a the size of the shoulder to elbow, plus one quarter of
that length. shoulder length should be equal to two head-hights sideways,
and heads should proportional to the body.
