supervanman64's pics (17/5): Dresden fanart

#1 Post by supervanman64 »

Here are three of my pics. More should come eventually, but I wanted to show my artstyle and have them critiqued. I sketch them in pencil and then scan them into MS Paint for outlining and coloring. If anyone wants to learn how to do that they can just ask. Hope you like them!

This one is some original character drawn in the nekomimi style. I named her Cassie.
Image

Next is a picture of Cassie and her friend David, who is human.

And finally here is my original character for Kingdom Hearts. His name is Kexal and he is a Nobody of another guy I made. He is dual-wielding two keyblades I designed myself.
Image

If you've noticed, I draw a lot of OCs. Please give feedback. I'd like to know how I did.

Hmm I am kind of curious as to what the originals look like. hmm as for the art the first and second pics head looks rather squarish or shieldish in my opinion (but then again I can't really draw any better because I suck at drawing hair) so you might want some advice from other members on this board.

the 3rd picture is actually quite decent. Oh and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comment. I guess that's just how I draw hair. As for the originals, I just use the curve tool with the medium thickness and go over the original lines. The originals are just pencil sketches, and instead of inking them on paper and scanning them, I just "inked" them on Paint instead.

Update!

Two this time. I was watching reruns of Buffy the Vampire Slayer a while ago and decided to draw an OC vamp slayer of my own. Here it is:

Image

Then I made a vampire OC. I decided to make him a nice vampire, so this is what he looks like:

Image

I haven't thought up names for either of them yet, though. Please critique, good or bad!

You're improving an awful lot! Great job. I love your shading, but try to pay a bit more attention to the light source. You do these in MS Paint?

Well, sort of. I do a very, VERY rough sketch on blank paper, then scan it into MS Paint. I paint over the original lines with the curve and line tool, usually three pixels wide, and then save. I invert the colors, set to Black And White, set to Color again and reinvert the colors. That removes the paper and sketches and leaves the new black lines with a white background. Then it's a simple process of using the fill tool to color. To shade, you use the line tool of a darker version of the color you're shading and drawing lines where the shadow starts. Then you fill in the shadow side with that color. Then BOOM, you have a picture.

I was reading TwoKInds and decided there wasn't enough Kathrin fanart, so I made this in MS Paint using just the mouse and reference in the comic. It took about 50 minutes to complete. I need to work on female anatomy, so sorry if it sucks. Tell me what you think!

Huh, your vamp reminds me of Buwaro from Slightly Damned (A webcomic) for some reason. At any rate, keep up the good work!
