My favorite music is 80's and 90's.
I agree, the violin is awesome. Sadly I must disagree with you on the guitar thing though.

My friend has recently gotten me into Pink Floyd, that's around...what? 80's as well? Not sure. *goes off to wiki*

Oh and I've got-a hankerin' for some Freezepop right now as well.

I know of 2 rock bands that use violins in some of their music, and it sounds great. Malice Mizer and Moi Dix Mois, their both Japanese bands though, I'm sure there's more out there that do it but those two are my favorites at the moment, especially the song Beast of Blood by Malice Mizer cause they also use what I think are pipe organs.

As for my music interests it varies, I listen to alot of different things. Just not into emo or country. I listen to alot of Alice in Chains, The Offspring, Miyavi, Malice Mizer, Moi Dix Mois, The Ramones, various techno artists, rave, jump style, and hardcore style...actually I should stop listing or it'll end up taking a full page. Anywho I listen to alot of rock, punk, and on occasion classical.

The Black Mages.

They take FF songs, and turn them to rock.

I like J-E-N-O-V-A.
Heh, don't be mad at Sage, he's just slow, I mean come on, he's named after the slowest Job in the DS FFIII, even Slugs go faster than Sages.

Well, it's hard to beat good Classic Rock. Led Zepellin, The Police, The Eagles, all excellent bands. And one band I really liked, Shoreline, changed their name, and plays a little different music. They're called Foreign Oren right now, but they're still a pretty good band, and worth checking out.

Hmm... My interests are changing all the time!

Right now I'm hooked on the Gipsy Kings, VNV Nation, Ricky Martin, Joy Electric, and Freezepop.

Hard Rock going over into Heavy Metal mostly.

Although these days I'm hooked on Dir En Grey, used to be japanese visual rock. (Well, I guess they're still japanese)

But I like many kinds and genres of music.
Examples are the Gorillaz (love them), White Stripes, Arctic Monkeys, Rob Zombie, Queen, The Prodigy, Helloween, Motley Crüe and even Michael Jackson. <.<

Eclectic.
I have, what I believe is one of the most diverse iPods in the world.
Everything from Stravinsky to EMINEM.
I don't cling to artists or genres, I get more attatched to individual songs.
Though I do love jazz and big band swing. 8)

My two favorite songs of all time have consistently been "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell (intro song to Casino Royale) and "In Time" by Mark Collie. For Genres? Anything.

No, really. I challenge Bright Eyes to a diverse iPod duel.

Actually, I'd probably lose. Most of my music is soundtrack- around 400+ songs out of around 1100.
VERY, GOOD

Fidder On the Roof soundtrack (I should download it from the CD to replace the muzak versions of selected songs contained on a general-compilation CD I already downloaded), klezmer, classical (including Final Fantasy, downloaded this), misic played on glass armonica, selected clips from the xaphoon website, and I really should get around to buying the spamalot soundtrack.
