Actually I find the video kinda endearing.
Reminded me of the quirky, weird and low fidelity Internet we had in the early(ier) 2000, and 2010's
Technologically what we have today is far superior but still something was lost along the way.
I do not know about you but I remember the internet was far more amicable place back then.

I know a lot of WTF/NSFW'ish music videos. And I don't mean the rap videos.

Like 'Royal Blood - Out of the Black'.

I do think a way bigger and less uniform internet population has to be part of the issue.
But i doubt it is the only cause. I think back then platforms had not yet figured out how to capitalize and sell our attention. Nor where hell bent on having you 24/7 on their services.

That is also interesting. Back then people was encouraged to limit their personal information on the internet as much as possible. This forum is still like that.
But today most of us post a lot of info on social media even my boss is a facebook friend...

I make a point to never have any personal information in any public space in the internet. I have a Facebook profile but it's all blank and doesn't have my full name. That's is the most info anyone could hope to find about me.

A lot of people know who I am, but only a few can link the various accounts I have.

I have no facebook, no twitter, no myspace. This is the only social media I have besides the Twokinds IRC, and I don't think anyone I know even knows I'm here.

I is invisible. :)

Yup, still there. Pretty dead most of the time, though.

I do think the best policy is to limit as much as possible the amount of information you post online. But alas most people do not do that anymore. Nowadays they post their full name, address, photos of themselves and their family, political affiliation, relationships status and their deepest, and often dumb, thoughts for the whole world to see.
I consider not having Facebook and twitter a good idea and I once seriously thought to simply delete my accounts. Unfortunately even if I don't have an account a lot of people still have one. Sometimes the most effective, the only one in some cases, method to communicate with a lot of people I know and care is through social media. So having social media is not only a decision to have a facebook page or not but also a decision if i want to stay to stay in touch with certain people I care.
I also have twitter but i never post there. I simply like to read twitter threads. And likedIn for work...

On a curious note. IRC was popular around the same time phpBB. But despite usually appearing in conjunction, as site often had a phpbb forum and an IRC chat, IRC remains relatively popular to this day but phpBB is rarely used anymore :(

I have achieved an achievement.

I was, for a period of almost an hour, struggling to keep up with my social media for the first time ever! Juggling IRC and forums, I was alt-tab-ing my way around so fast, I didn't even need to look where I was looking. So fast...

Would post in Smile thread, but double posting rules...

Social media just makes me mad most of the time

But I think I'm actually in both sides of this argument (and I may sound crazy explaining why) but for some reason, I am a huge skeptic about certain online communities and will not reveal anything about me and other communities I automatically trust for some reason. the deciding factor? just a feeling within my body.
Wow these things are way harder to come up with than you'd think. Or is that just me?
