That was a bit crass but definitely funnier than it had any right too.

The frig was that?
On another note, My brakes went out in the '68 on a narrow road with no streetlights, while my attention was diverted from the taste of coolant to the smell of leaking gasoline on the exhaust manifold. But Trump lost, so today was still awesome.

Re: Last Man Posting
The hell I did. I double clutched my way down to a crawl, and parking braked my way to stopped from there when needed. That was about 8 miles from home, and I need to take it to work Monday.
I don't really use the brakes in that above jogging speed anyway, unless I have to. 5 drum brake system, after all, they overheat if you drag them, then you have no brakes anyway.
Related:
Those bumper stickers that say "this car climbed Mount Washington" used to be a big deal, not because of the climb, but because your brakes would overheat on the decent with poor driving skills or a badly made vehicle. Overheated brakes get Brake Fade, where the brake fluid literally boils from the heat, and gasses don't transmit force like liquids do. Couple that with the pads/shoes glazing over from the heat, and your brakes would go out without much warning. If you use the transmission and downshift to maintain speed, however, you only need to supplement it with the brakes when necessary. And if you have a low enough gear, your brakes would stay cold until you hit the bottom.
I just adapted that wisdom, and used it on backroads instead of a mountain.

If it moves but shouldn't: Duct tape. If it doesn't move but should: WD-40. With a hammer everything fits, and if it still doesn't fit: bigger hammer. If it can't be fixed with a hammer it's an electrical problem.

*Ahem* I don't like them. Not at all.
Also, Technic, glad I can help. And to be fair, I wasn't very clear on what happened then, just that it was all happening at once.

Re: Last Man Posting
A cursory glance at my neighbors tells me that Japanese cars are the most popular here, Nissan specially. After that American cars like ford then Volkswagen and everything else after that.
The only European cars i have known is a VW old school beetle and a Peugeot. Both were fine cars at least for me.

Re: Last Man Posting
Volkswagon, Audi, Land Rover, Renault, all the Italian supercar manufacturers, they're all European manufacturers. Aside from Audi and Volks, though, they're not that popular in the US. I just hate them because they're difficult to work on.
I work at a Nissan dealer, and I'll say they have their fair share of problems, but they're not made to last like Toyotas or Hondas are. A Nissan over 100K miles is, well, lucky. For newer models, anyway. Over 150, and it belongs in a boneyard. Over 200, and you take your life in your hands. From what I've seen, anyway. As for Ford, I am heavily biased against them. Ford, Lincoln, Mercury.. They're all the same car with different badging, and they're all only made to be worked on by somebody trained to work on them, which makes for complicated problems with unrelated solutions that just cause problems for any non-manufacturer mechanic. Every single ONE I've touched has come back with more problems, no exceptions.
On another note, the Japanese car companies seem to have their own niche products, from what I've seen. Nissan has the new-fangled fancy features but lacks long-term durability, Toyota makes tough vehicles without the fancy features. Honda makes cheaper, decent vehicles with some of the features, and Subaru makes sporty cars. A Toyota will be with you forever, but is simplistic. A Nissan will treat you well and do cool things, for the first 5 digits on the odometer.

Re: Last Man Posting
Only a few automakers own all brands. This makes so that some cars from different brands and models like the Bentley Bentayga and the Tiguan (both owned by VW) use basically the same chassis and basic parts.
Also thanks to the tip on the Nissans, I actually own one now, and it is not close to 150k Kms but i will keep it in mind.

Re: Last Man Posting
Anything without a CVT transmission will last fairly well by miles. Anything with, and you're flipping a coin. But around here, anything pre-CVT has already just about rotted away.

So Nissan versa CVT
Now that you mention it I don't know anyone that still drives a manual transmission.

I do. I would choose to, but I'm not driving it by choice, if that makes sense.
