He's a musician. I don't know what you'd call his genre... Old-style Country music? He kinda did his own thing, from what I understand.
Wikipedia wrote:His genre-spanning songs and sound embraced country, rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel.
Basically, he's VERY famous. Well, was. Died in '03. Hits included "I Walk The Line", "Ring Of Fire", "A Boy Named Sue", "Ghost Riders In The Sky"... He was quite the artist.

At first glance I thought it was some of idiomatic expression or something.

I suppose he was not very popular here. I remember hearing his name once or twice before. On the other hand I have never been a big music fan in general so maybe that is why I did not know much about him.

It would stand to reason. He's big in music, not much elsewhere.

My elbow's been aching too. Only my right, though... what's with that?

I had minor surgery on one of my knees. It hurts from time to time.

But occasionally my wrist and shoulder hurt too. I think it is the climate and a sign we are getting old.

Getting old is nice, being old is not.

One of my professor said once:

"There are sometimes, simply old souls"

What she meant is that there are some people who and, and maybe feel, significantly older than their chronological age.

Mea culpa

There are also people who are the complete opposite.

Yeah. By experience they are much more common and much more annoying.

It is more difficult to deal with a 50 year old who acts like someone straight out of college. Than with a 20 something who acts like a grandpa.

That is very much dependent on the individual. A college kid acting like he has the wisdom of his grandparents can be quite the handful.

on the other hand...
My uncle is over 60, retired, drives a hot rot T-bucket with a big-block Chevy for an engine, and plays hard rock guitar.
My uncle wrote:Q=V*(E+R)

Quality is equivalent to volume times the sum of enthusiasm and reverb
I know which I would prefer, any day of the week. An old person who acts young has the enthusiasm of a teenager and (at least some) of the wisdom of their age.

EDIT:
They're having a jam session downstairs. I overheard him saying, in response to.. something... "If you don't stand like that, it won't sound like that."
Oh, how I would LOVE to have that level of confidence.

True Belgian waffles are only a 1.5 hour drive away for me.

And Dutch stroopwafels... Well... I don't even have to put on clothes for that
