Funny enough, going up against the mods in public is against the rules. But we need this settled so let's approach this in a civil manner.
My opinion is that Yash might have punked the dude; Yash is just scaring Jahar for fun. But it does seem a tad brutal.
If it is really gonna happen, I would say that it is excessive force for the situation. Jahar was just trying to help, and was afraid from the start of approaching Yash.

Re: Help us save SirJahar
Put the fear of god into someone? It's why he's known as the "bad cop" of the forum. Definitely not a bad thing inherently, and so if it is just a prank (at this point I'd rather a prank taken wrong than the truth), it just means a "My bad you guys, sorry" is really all that needs to happen.kiabugboy wrote:has he done something like that before?TinyVoices wrote:My opinion is that Yash might have punked the dude; Yash is just scaring Jahar for fun. I just want this to be talked about logically, rather than emotionally or "by the rules" only.
Re: Help us save SirJahar
Before I will weigh in I need details. More precisely, what exactly did SirJahar ask of Yash about a forum game turned RP? To me the logical solution to what happened to his thread is for it to get moved to the RolePlaying Board. So is that what he asked of Yash? Or did he ask something less forum appropriate? Or did he just go "HELP!" to a mod over the thread? I'm not willing to back either side until I know what the conversation between SirJahar and Yash was, and the implied tones. Once I do have that information though, I'll definitely weigh in. Yeah, most of the free sales of my books are probably from posting about the releases here (Solanverse 1-4 will end up being later this week instead of Wednesday, financial problems have delayed being able to order my next cover art), rather than the other two forums I mention them on, so for me getting banned has potential longer term problems, but if either of them was out of line I'll speak up about it despite the consequences.
*EDIT* Okay, I went and checked out the thread. Most of the information I was wanting before making a decision was in there, and you really should've had a link to where it starts (here) so that those who are uncertain about what is going on can find out, and I can say that I do have a stance now. It has been several years (the better part of a decade) since I last read the forum rules, but I don't recall it being standard practice for someone to get banned when asking what to do with a thread that has evolved past what was expected of it. Yes, SirJahar could've tried taking a firmer stance, asking for the thread to be moved, or if that wasn't practical for it to be locked so they could resume it somewhere else, instead of just asking for advice, but the response was still extremely inappropriate all the same. I will back your petition, and it looks like there are others taking dedicated measures to get this mess fixed as well. I don't know Yash well enough to tell how likely he is to just be punking SirJahar or to be serious, I'll have to leave that to those who have interacted with him more, but even as a prank this is wrong.

Re: Help us save SirJahar
It is a miracle that a forum like this, with a rather controversial subject (furry related) has so few active mods.
That thread went out of control, it started like a 'last man posting with guns', but it turned into something completely different, role-playing.
Locking that thread is the best thing he can do, and maybe some verbal reprimands for those who started the derailing of it. But nothing more.

If it moves but shouldn't: Duct tape. If it doesn't move but should: WD-40. With a hammer everything fits, and if it still doesn't fit: bigger hammer. If it can't be fixed with a hammer it's an electrical problem.

Re: Help us save SirJahar
The intent of the thread was to make it more like a LMP thread+RP. So the thread was technically never derailed. Instead it just was more of an RP thread than a game thread.Neutral Smith wrote:It is a miracle that a forum like this, with a rather controversial subject (furry related) has so few active mods.

Re: Help us save SirJahar
I've been with this whole mess since it really started over in the Last Man Posting thread in the gaming board. There was a group of us playing the game slightly differently than the thread was intended and some other players voiced that we should take our game elsewhere. SirJahar took the initiative on that and created the Epic Throne Battle thread in the gaming board. He did this so that we would still have a place to play and none of the others from the Last Man Posting thread would have to deal with us. He did this to help and keep everyone happy. As our game went on in the Epic Throne Battle thread it turned into more of an RolePlay type game. We could see other forum members talking about us in other threads too. So we began to question whether or not we belonged in the gaming board or the roleplay board. After talking about it amongst ourselves we thought it would be best to ask someone in charge what the best course of action was. We really didn't know what we should do. SirJahar sent a message to Yash to get some help and advice regarding this matter. I don't know his exact words but I would be surprised if he was anything other than courteous and respectful. After a nervous nights sleep I find out that as a result of asking for help and guidance SirJahar is being banned and our thread is just being removed. I don't know exactly what Yash said, I don't know exactly what Jahar said, but this doesn't seem right to me.
-I don't see how Sirjahar deserves to be banned for asking for help in this matter.
-I don't think forum members should be afraid to contact the moderators

Re: Help us save SirJahar
Throwing in my two cents on this, from what I've read I think it's an entirely disproportionate response to SirJahar just asking for some help.
Even if it is just a prank, I'm not sure a lot of people would find this in any way funny.
So, let me state for the record that I'm behind this cause. Jahar is being unfairly treated, and that's putting it mildly.

You're all a bunch of clowns. No one is actually getting banned. Everyone go home, show's over.
