Roller Rink Tunes
Here's one for the ranters:
There are many songs that people would say are "definately 80's tunes", or "rollerskate music". So here's my question: If you had to pick your favorite song that best matched a rollerskating rink, what would it be? Note, this means 80's, not rap, not techno (unless it's from the era), none of that modern stuff. So break out your Beegee's albums and your ABBA 8-tracks, time to get retro!
For me, I'd say "Stayin' Alive" by the Beegee's. What's yours?

It didn't come out in the 80's but it's close enough. "Don't Stop Me Now," Queen.

Ooh, I like this thread!
80's pop has to be my favorite genre of music. But, if I had to choose but one song for fantabulous roller derby, it'd be Katrina & The Waves - Walking On Sunshine.

Re: Roller Rink Tunes
Drawing from the pool of music I listened to as a kid (That is, my dad's music), I'd have to say Does Your Mother Know by ABBA. I had their Gold album as a kid, and 12 or so years having gone without listening, I still know most of the words.
I asked my dad and he said Let the Music Play by Shannon. My mom suggested anything by the Bee Gees or Donna Summers. Also Super Freak.
Normally I'd complain about this thread being revived after so long, but I'm not a mod and I like 80's music. I mean, what's not to like here?

I'll add in ABACAB by Genisis. Maybe even Just Can't Wait by J. Geils Band.

Truth be told, I saw this thread this morning and I didn't have time to post until this evening. Super Freak is a great choice, by the way.Myperson54 wrote:Normally I'd complain about this thread being revived after so long, but I'm not a mod and I like 80's music. I mean, what's not to like here?
Anyway, while I'm still talking, I think I'll add Hall & Oats- Private Eyes

I like skating, whether it's roller skating or ice skating, and I love good music to go with it.
For me, I'll go with dramatic minor-key tunes, not necessarily fast, but with some driving rhythm behind them. I picked five. See what you think:
Bon Jovi - "Dead or Alive"

Eddie Money - "Take Me Home Tonight"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHKqA5mkT7I
Fine Young Cannibals - "Good Thing"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZECajaaVY4
Christopher Cross - "Ride Like the Wind"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FBxVop69gs
Soft Cell - "Tainted Love"
