Oh, my dad doesn't really know much about it unless you considers the shirts that I sometimes wear, but since he has never and probably will never be bothered enough to enter my room, he's pretty much clueless about it. I suppose he wouldn't really have too much of a negative opinion about it though. He even complimented one of my furry shirts once, so who knows...
My mom really doesn't care since she's never brought up anything about it, even though she is most likely in the family to know about the furry fandom.
My brother has too many problems of his own to worry about, so he probably hasn't like really taken much interest... But from him, I would expect some curiosity, a bit of interest, and then jump right to the part where everyone he knows starts calling me 'fluffy kitty' or something...

My parents and step parents know, and one friend of mine. Some of my co-workers have an idea, but they don't have anything solid. My friends and family just look at it as part of my weirdness, and my dad just pokes at me occasionally about it in a good-natured way. Have to admit, it's weird to try and hide from others because I've sort of built up part of my self-image around the fandom.

I don't think any family members know what furries are, and I have a few friends who dislike furries on what I think is just the basis of being strange/unusual/different. I bet I can change their minds if I hint at it for a while and let them figure it out for themselves.
Other than that I'm not going to tell anyone outright unless they ask first. I don't think anyone in my family would understand, nor would many of my friends.
Honestly I don't know my family very well as I keep to myself a lot. I never really understand their reactions to things, just as I suspect they don't understand mine. I have a feeling they wouldn't like it very much though.
Human interaction has always been something I've had a problem with. I'm socially awkward (which also makes typing this in a semi-coherent manner somewhat difficult) and I'm practically incapable of judging how people will behave or how they will feel. My parents' actions have been aggressive in the past, which leads me to believe they would be aggressive if they learned.

Whoops, this is way too long. I'll stop now.
Sometimes, I wish I could art.

I didn't actively tell anyone and neither my parents nor most of my friends know what the furry fandom is but they all know that I like furry art (they probably see it just as some sort of animal people or such :P ) because it's pretty obvious (all my devices have drawings of neko-maya/neotheta as backgrounds (the purple colour of her celeste drawing fits the white of android 5 very well  ) and I watch streams of neko drawing at school and such and the few friends of mine who know the furry fandom are either ones their self (one I know for sure and I think another one at least likes furry art :D ) or don't mind (one mentioned it once and never bugged me again about it :) ).
On the other hand I fear that if I say openly that I'm a furry that people who didn't know anything about it previously find yiff and similar while searching for it... :?

My mother looked at my wallpaper once and said that it's a nice drawing and that she likes it ^^

TinyVoices wrote:As for friends (a handful whom I consider an extended family), they're so in the know about furries that at least once a month I've heard a snide remark about how gross furries are. They're open minded college kids, but that doesn't mean they have to accept us.
I have asked a number of my friends (namely my roommates this past year) and their vision of furries is overall bleak. They make remarks and prodding jokes about the "people who find animals attractive". They've also remarked how unfortunate it is that the fandom has destroyed vestiges of the past such as Star Fox, Pokemon, and anything else remotely anthro that didn't need porn made out of it.

But I've also found that this is, to a degree, all in jest. They say they are open-minded, and that they can tolerate furries so long as furries stay off to the side. Which, in a way, I can agree with. If I find furries by accident, it kind of upsets me a touch, and I'm a part of the fandom. No wonder the majority of people would at least in some way verbally hate our in-sight existence. S:P
