Hey, I need some help.
So I recently got Photoshop CS4 and decided that I would try to make some cool pic to put up as my avatar. I finally finished inking it with the pen tool, and was going to color it. I tried to get a color from a different picture to start coloring, than something screwy happened. I don't know what. I don't know how. I took some screen shots below. It is for some unfathomable reason stuck in greyscale slider, and painting over it puts on a translucent red.
Can anyone help me?

You're in quickmask; hit the 'q' key (that's the key for CS, dunno about CS4). I don't for the life of me know what it's for, but I occasionally hit 'q' and it throws off my groove.
And so it was that Godhead Pickle Inspector created the universe. He regarded His creation with fondness and saw that it was good.

If "q" doesn't work, in the toolbar on the left, all the way at the bottom there's a rectangle with a circle in it (currently pressed in your screenshot), click it again to deactivate quickmask. I believe quickmask is used to get selections easily, by drawing them; if you leave quickmask, that which is selected (the reddish like parts) will form a selection.
