What differences are there between the first and second gens?

They added external volume controls and a speaker...thats it and the speaker isnt even that good...its kinda nice if you use the ipod as an alarm with no speakers but if you dont its kinda useless.

I have my own cellphone-sized alarm clock, if I'm ever not at home, so I don't really need that...

Dammit, Speed, just tell me what to do from the beginning!! XD
Go for the first gen, you say? Will you help me sort everything out with the jailbreak and whatnot? <_<

A nice refurbished one from someone with 97% going for $310.
This is the right thing, right? <<;

Hmm... I've got money. May as well spend an extra 30 bucks for a new one.

Your money. Personally I think the 2nd gen is cool and all (and i think its battery lasts a bit longer if i remember correctly but idk) but I dont think its worth it when the 16GB is 300 (SUSH I GOT MINE FOR400 T_T) and the 32 GB is 400 and the 32 refurb is only 330 on amazon. meh your choice

no no no I am explaining prices. The first gen is hackable and much less expencive. I would go with that since the 32 GB is less expencive then the 32 GB 2nd gen.

The 1st Gen would be my choice just remember unless you buy from apple there is no warrenty (unless you buy a apple refurb). The 2nd Gen would have the free one year warrenty. Just telling you everything I know. If you dont care about the warrenty then I say 1st gen
