The laptop I am currently working on:
MSI GT60, Win 8.1
CPU: Intel i7-4800MQ (3.7GHz)
RAM: 16GB@800MHz DDR3
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M
Storage: 2x128GB SSD, 750GB HDD (@7200rpm)
Display: Full HD, 1920x1080px, up to three external monitors.
Keyboard: Steel series with backlight

It's really good, I bought it in June. The previous computers I owned (the earlier the newer):
Asus K52Jc (2.4GHz Intel i7, 4GB Ram, 500GB HDD, Nvidia GT 310M - which sucked!), I didn't really like it, it was very delicate. Right now it's waiting for a new keyboard. Win7 and Debian on board.
Asus F3Sv (2.0GHz Intel Core2Duo, 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Nvidia 8600M) - probably my favourite one. I discovered 2kinds on it (and my passion for webcomics) Unfortunately the GPU was doomed with a curse of bad BGA soldering, which unsoldered itself as a result of high temperatures, caused short circuits and eventually burnt the GPU. Twice. But after two $100 repairs it's still alive and serving as my mum's computer. Still running WinXP.
The immortal Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro v2035 with WinXP (although it even ran pure DOS for fun and multiple Linuxes, getting wifi to work was terrible) (1.5GHz Intel Celeron, 512MB Ram, 40GB HDD (yeah, forty), no dedicated graphics) - old man, my first own laptop. I learnt to code on it, because it couldn't do much more than simple games. I gave it to my sis, and after years it came back to me as unusable (they couldn't deal with such tiny disk space). Right now it's got FreeBSD installed. It's a zombie, half of it is either dead or near-death, but great for testing purposes. Not powered on for a year, because...

...My main server, my old school gave it to me because it was too old for them and got replaced. Intel core 2 duo @ 1.5GHz (if I remember well), 1GB RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, 500GB HDD, running FreeBSD. Multi-purpose server (www, backups and even internet radio) - mostly backups though. I power it on whenever I need to share large files. Knowing your IP address can be useful!

I also used to own a Raspberry Pi (with a Debian-like Linux) with some servomechanisms hooked up - it did face tracking with a webcam, bzzt bzzt. I donated it to my high school after I graduated, but I still have the source code (C++) if anyone's interested.

Ok, that's one long post. Nerd signing out!

Wow, that's extremely impressive.

My desktop isn't anything too special (it came as an all-in-one, big mistake) as I bought it a long time ago. I believe there's:
i5 processor (of some type, can't remember)
Windows 7 HP
Nvidia GT 560
8 GB of RAM
1920 x 1080 screen
Another external screen, which is 1200 x 760

I also have a laptop with is MUCH better with:
Intel i7-4710HQ processor
2 GB Nvidia Geforce GTX 880M
Intel HD Graphics 4600
Windows 8.1
8 GB of RAM
15.6 screen at 1920 x 1080

That CPU overclocks like a beast! Even on air, you should be able to give it a good kick in the pants. It wouldn't surprise me if you could flirt with 4.4 or 4.5GHz, depending on your cooling setup. Any higher end air cooling should let you do some pretty impressive things with it, and your power supply is more than adequate to supply anything you'd need.

Yeah it's a great CPU. I have a Rosewill AIOLOS PLUS air cooler. That's part of the reason I got the 750 W power supply. I also knew later I was going to get a upgraded graphics card. Wow, I never knew I could overclock it even further, I'll have to do that! Thanks!

I have the 3770K and my Asus motherboard has some presets to clock my CPU to 4.6. I would totally do it as it does some automagical stuff and clocks my RAM up as well. I used to run with slightly higher clocks but my fallout 3 kept crashing. I went back to stock. So far stock has done me just fine and it keeps my processor healthier longer if I don't OC.

(I'm gonna try and break the limit when I finally upgrade to an X99 chipset someday)

My main desktop PC that I built:

Case: Corsair carbide series SPEC-03 with blue LEDs
Mobo: Asus sabertooth 990FX R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-6300 @ 3.5GHz, planning on overclocking it when I can be bothered to. I have Arctic MX-4 thermal compound on it and a Cooler Master hyper 212 EVO cooling it.
RAM: 16GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 @ 1600MHz
Storage: 120GB Sandisk SSD plus for my OS and programs, 1TB WD black for media and games, both connected via SATA 6Gb/s.
Graphics: Sapphire dual-X R7 265 with 2GB GDDR5, getting a Gigabyte R7 270 soon from a friend who's upgraded their rig. I'll be selling both soon to buy a higher end 300 series card.
Power supply Corsair CX750M, nice solid bargain PSU, I previously had a 780W no name unit that blew up and almost took my other components with it.
Fans: As well as the included 120mm blue LED fan in the front, I have an additional generic non-LED Corsair fan in the front, and another in the back. Front is intake, back is expelling air.
OS: Windows 10 pro
I get reasonable framerates with the settings cranked up high at 1920x1080 on most modern games.

I've been working a second job doing Uber driving for the past couple of months, and I've decided to splurge on building myself a better system. The work isn't bad, and the pay is good enough for me to afford to replace the items in bold:

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master V8 69.7 CFM Rifle Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Storage: Crucial M4 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital 1TB HDD Samsung 850 EVO-Series 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Video Card: EVGA GTX 670 SLI EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Classified ACX 2.0+ Video Card (2-Way SLI)
Video Card: EVGA GTX 670 SLI EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Classified ACX 2.0+ Video Card (2-Way SLI)
Case: Cooler Master HAF X ATX Full Tower Case
Power Supply: SeaSonic X Series 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Monitor: 3-way Asus 1080p 60hz TN monitor Acer Predator X34 100Hz 34.0" Monitor

Next on the list is to replace the CPU with either Skylake or Broadwell-E, but I'll want to wait for benchmarks when they release. When I'm happy with the parts, I'd like to put in a custom watercooling loop using hardline tubing (though I've been saying that for years, so who knows if I'll actually follow through this time).

My plan has been to use Uber money to pay for all my computer upgrades. I won't say I got the job specifically for this purpose, but I also won't deny that's how I seem to be using it :P . So far it's worked out fairly well, and I'd definitely recommend it to someone looking for a flexible-hour, part-time job. While I did feel slightly guilty about spending that much on hardware (the adult side of my kept thinking how I could invest in certain stocks, refinance loans, etc), I think it's important to spend both time and money on things you enjoy, and that you shouldn't let yourself be tempted to either extreme with spending. Do not dive deep into debt just to have the biggest Epeen for a year, but neither should you be let the fear of spending money keep you from enjoying yourself. I'd like to think I've found a nice middle-ground for my situation, where I can work a part-time job, at my discretion, to have discretionary spending.

Either way, may your frame rates be high and your temperatures low, brothers!

And here I am, to make everyone laugh...

I don't know about the graphics card off-hand, but:
Gateway E6500D with Pentuim D @ 2.8 Ghz (dual core I think),
Windows XP sp2,
set up with a 20" CRT at 1600x1200 and an LCD at 1920x1080, 75 FPS.
2 gigs of RAM.
200 watt power supply, if memory serves..
120 gb HDD w/ one partition, 1 tb HDD with two 20 gb partitions and two 476 gb partitions.

and I could concievably cook in the case on a hot day.
And I have cooked on the monitor on a hot day.

Originally I had an Inspiron with Vista. Harddrive failure. Switched to Gateway DX series. Hardware failure, swap drive to Inspiron. Also installed terabyte drive. Installed second copy of Vista, first would not load drivers properly. Also installed XP for the hell of it. Later installed 8.1 for the 10 upgrade. Upgraded to 10, loved it. Then hardware failure. Swapped both drives again, to the E6500D hardware. Original Vista dead, second Vista dead, 10 dead, XP working like it was made for it.

I aalso should probably note that this setup, running off a Pentuim D at 2.8 Ghz with XP sp2, is the fastest setup I have ever had that worked for longer than a month, and is still the most tolerant of issues. Besides the retired Dimension 8250 for it's dependability, that is.

It may be years before I can successfully uppgrade even to Centrino Duo, and possibly half a decade or more before I see the effects of an i3 on my software. i7 is a wet dream at this point. Ah, the joys of needing almost no processing power to do anything. :P Can still play Quake III at 75 FPS while simultaneously watching Markiplier fullscreen at 1080p though, so I can't really complain. :)

Update on my overclocking adventures...I've managed to take my AMD FX-6300 from its base clock of 3.5GHz to 4.2GHz with an idle temperature of 35 and full load temperature of 55. Guess I got lucky in the silicon lottery with this chip. There's a substantial increase in performance in CPU bound games and workloads, and I don't think I should worry too much about bottlenecking my GPU now.

I can't wait to see how far I can push this chip with a water cooler, but for the moment, the CM hyper 212 evo has far exceeded my expectations for a sub-£50 air cooler.

Oh, and I went back to Windows 7 professional and will stay with it for the foreseeable future until Windows 10 gets inevitably forced onto us by Microsoft. The decision to not support future CPU architectures on 7 was a really [censored] move, that and making DX12 a Windows 10 exclusive feature.

Wow... I thought 'my computer is still brand new', but it's already 1.5 years old...

Now: (03 Sep 2014)
* Asus Z97-Deluxe
* Intel Core i7 4790K
* Asus GTX780Ti
* 2x 8GB PC2400 memory
* 500GB Samsung 840EVO SSD

Things I haven't changed (yet):
* Cooler Master Stacker STC-101 (black) (won't change this, I like this case)
* Antec SilentPower 850W
* Samsung SyncMaster 215TW
* Logitech Z5500 (Hello neighbours :twisted: )
* Logitech G15 'blue'
* Logitech MX518

Things I will change if I have some money to spend again so many things I want to buy, like a http://www.neatorobotics.com/robot-vacu ... botvac-85/ :
* More memory. 2 banks are not occupied :mrgreen:
* Second graphics card for SLI, new series comes in December I thought, so prices will drop.
* Graphics card needs a new PSU, I want to have some 'room' in power. And I need this PSU in an other computer. (where the old stuff goes to, with Ubuntu as the new OS)
* More 'normal' hard disks, I have 10TB in my NAS, but 500GB local space is not enough.

But I can say that I am a very lucky man :D :grin:
What I use this computer for? Browsing, Casual gaming, and I don't like change, so it will get very old again in this setup. (and still nothing to be ashamed of in 5 years)
Things I didn't mention, but also had:
* ASUS BW 16D1HT (optical drive)
* Raidsonic IB-867 (this thing)
* Scythe Kama Panel 3.1 (this thing)
* ZALMAN CNPS 9900 MAX Blue
* Every fan is a Cooler Master Blade Master in 80 or 120mm

Now the changes:
* 2x Asus GTX780Ti (instead of a single card)
* 4x 8GB PC2400 memory, G.Skill TridentX (instead of 2)
* 2x 500GB Samsung 840EVO SSD in RAID0 (instead of a single)
* Corsair AX860i - 860W PSU (not much upgrade, but I needed the old one)
* Dell P2715Q monitor
* Das Keyboard 4 Professional MX Brown (no more typing on sponges for me :heart: )
* Cooler Master Sentinel III mouse

It's odd to see how your wishes change. Robot vacuum cleaner moved to the bottom of the wishlist, but now I want a small touch screen (this one), and a Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 disk for my computer. Wish for normal spinning disks isn't gone, but lower on the wishlist.
