Question about IE8
If IE8 gets corrupted, or if it is run on a computer that is old/has low processing power, will it start having the following bugs?
-Back/Forward Page buttons stop working.
-Address bar freezes to current page.
-Address bar cannot be used to change website.
-Google Search bar stops working.
-Tab address stops working.
-New Tab button stops working.
-Internet Explorer will not close.
-When ending task with Task Manager, IE says it wasn't responding.
-When reopening pages automatically, IE sometimes will not proceed past 'Connecting' for all tabs. [This bug is more recent than all the other problems, which just started one day.]
If so, can I fix it just by reinstalling IE? Its never an immediate problem, so I'd prefer putting off doing that until I know it would work.

If every cloud had a silver lining, there would be a lot more plane crashes.

Re: Question about IE8
just take a look into chrome or firefox. They are both great browsers and very stylish. At least for firefox, I know you can customize the look and layout to what you want.

Re: Question about IE8
I have Chrome, but I don't like it. I only have it in case I get the sort of virus that cripples IE by making it refer you to 'spend £50 on our fake antivirus software' websites.

Re: Question about IE8
For chrome there is the web store with 1000's of themes
Re: Question about IE8
Well, it never hurts to just re-install and try again, if it doesn't work then I dunno.
and honestly, look into not using IE...or at very VERY least using IE9.

Yes. If you're using IE8, you need to just... not. Upgrade to IE9, move to FF or Chrome. Just don't stay with the insecure, slow, standards-incompliant piece of **** that is ie8(IE9 is still insecure, but not as slow, and not /as/ standards-incompliant).

Re: Question about IE8
As I said, its a style thing. I don't like IE9. It has the same 'designed by idiots for idiots' feel to it as Windows 7. The functionality is removed so that they can make it 'simpler' for 'simple' people to know how to use. If I wanted to be crude I could point at their adverts and say 'look at all these people who think they are a computer, isn't that sad', but that would be silly and it's not really a valid point anyway.
Seriously, I want IE8 more than any other web browser, so I want to know why its having bugs when it previously wasn't. I have some free time, so I'll reinstall and bring you all the results.

Since it is a style thing will this work

What you have there is the Aero theme plastered over IE9.philip284 wrote:Since it is a style thing will this work

If anything, it looks worse. Sorry.
Can I emphasize this: I am not looking for a replacement browser. I want to know if IE8 tends to have a certain set of problems if it happens to be run on an old, low power computer such as my laptop.

I can understand that. But hey, IE came first.

Just because it was first, does not make it better.RedDwarfIV wrote:Thanks - resetting it sounds good.philip284 wrote:In that case

Opera...lynx...arena...mosaic...all before it.
has Microsoft ever been first? (legit question, I have no clue)
