Trying to play a game on my computer....

ok I got a Toshiba laptop with 3GB of ram and it exceeds the minimum system requirements for ARMA 2. However, when I play the game on the LOWEST quality settings it lags really badly. even if im playing by myself, not even online. i move the mouse and it takes 3 seconds for it to respond, same thing happens when I shoot or move or do anything. hell, even the main lobby is laggy.I out the mouse over "campaign" or "multiplayer" and it takes a second or 2 before it shows that button glows.

I want to be able to play online with my friends, but its simply not working.

What can I do to help this thing run faster?
I dont think its my computer though... my laptop can run sony vegas and photoshop at the same time while broadcasting with ym webcam on tinychat without any trouble at all.

On another note, I got 2 completely blank dell desktops sitting downstairs. I ONLY want to use those for gaming and nothing else. Whats the best way to set those up for fairly cheap. I dont need a super gaming laptop, I just need something that will work.

I...what? No. You're clearly mistaken. What are the specs of your laptop? Hard drive space != RAM.
