A bit of a necropost, but this is an awesome Firefox addon I just discovered. Its a Mozilla project called Ubiquity. It has made searching and overall browsing a whole lot easier.

Quoted because I just downloaded it (and Growl) and it makes things so much more efficient. Like, sexy-efficient. And convenient.House wrote:A bit of a necropost, but this is an awesome Firefox addon I just discovered. Its a Mozilla project called Ubiquity. And so it was that Godhead Pickle Inspector created the universe. He regarded His creation with fondness and saw that it was good.

That died, use Weave when registrations work again. https://services.mozilla.com/
That's old. Use Adblock Plus. http://adblockplus.orgYash wrote:Adblock
Once installed, it's a snap to filter elements at their source-address. Just right-click: Adblock: done. Filters use either the wildcard character (*) or full Regular Expression syntax. Hit the status-element and see what has or hasn't been blocked. (In other words, if you see an image or flash animation you don't like, right-click it and permanently remove it.)

NoScript.
This plugin disables any java scripts or embedded objects which you can then selectively enable. It is meant to protect the user from new exploits (which haven't been fixed yet) simply by preventing an script that uses an exploit to run in the first place.
Is quite handy when you sometimes visit "questionable sites"...
Embedded objects are highlighted when blocked, clicking on the enables them. (such as embedded videos, flash etc.)

Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer: http://www.foxmarks.com/ and https://addons.mozilla.org/en/firefox/addon/2410
Foxmarks is a free add-on for your Firefox browser that syncs and backs up your bookmarks and passwords across multiple computers and more.
for web developers: https://addons.mozilla.org/en/firefox/addon/1843
Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page...
Small but useful:
Tabs Open Relative: https://addons.mozilla.org/en/firefox/addon/1956
makes all new tabs open to the right of the current tab, rather than at the far right of the tab bar...
Download Statusbar: https://addons.mozilla.org/en/firefox/addon/26
View and manage downloads from a tidy statusbar - without the download window getting in the way of your web browsing.

FireFTP: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/684
I'm surprised no-one's listed this one. It's a fully functional, powerful, integrated FTP client for Firefox.
Chatzilla: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16
An IRC client for Firefox. Has built-in links to major IRC networks.

Read it Later: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7661
Allows you to save pages of interest to read later. It eliminates cluttering of bookmarks with sites that are merely of a one-time interest.

Well, Pursonas are pretty fun. You can make your own page design, upload it, and use that for your background.
And the IE Viewer link died. Is there another version around somewhere?

LiveClick - Addon that automatically updates your RSS Feeds and informs you when something new is up! Also replaces the RSS Feed's normal icon with the favicon for that website.

I use Thunderbird as a RSS reader. It doesn't need any addons for this.OmegaEffect wrote:LiveClick - Addon that automatically updates your RSS Feeds and informs you when something new is up! Also replaces the RSS Feed's normal icon with the favicon for that website.
News are waiting for reading like e-mails.
Back to the topic:
Really recommended: Flashblock is an extension for the Mozilla, Firefox, and Netscape browsers that takes a pessimistic approach to dealing with Macromedia Flash content on a webpage and blocks ALL Flash content from loading. It then leaves placeholders on the webpage that allow you to click to download and then view the Flash content.
Morning Coffee Keeps track of daily routine websites and opens them in tabs.
This extension lets you organize websites by day and open them up simultaneously as part of your daily routine. This is really handy if you read sites that update on a regular schedule (like webcomics, weekly columns, etc.).
Greasemonkey For geeks lime me.
Allows you to customize the way a webpage displays using small bits of JavaScript

If you use twitter (for some crazy and stupid reason like I do) a nice app to have is TwitterFox.
Basically our own little twitter down in the bottom corner of your screen for you to send/receive updates without ever haveing to visit the site all the time. Rather nice If your using twitter to know when new comics or videos you like are being posted, you you just want to keep track of friends.
