Suddenly, the gunfire in the immediate viscinity stopped as the two Germans dropped. There was still plenty going around in the background, but, as it seemed, it was "quiet."

One of the soldiers nearby jokingly said, "Sound off if you're dead..." and someone else said, "Quiet!"

"Corporal, move up." A small group of soldiers, probably another squad, passed Logan's group and surrounded the pillboxes' doorway. "Come out with your hands on your head," one of the soldiers translated into German. Nothing happened.

A few minutes later, after the pillbox was cleared, a Private ran his way over towards Sgt. Logan. "Sergeant Logan, sir? Captain wants to know if you're available to move out."

Sgt Logan staggered to his feet, regaining his balance.

"Tell the Captain I'll be alright," he said, picking up his weapon and heading round to the pillbox. "Alright, beach is secure but we need to move inland. This area's packed with damn Jerries and we need to put a stop to them. Stock up on ammo and get ready to move out..."

Something caught Sgt Logans' attention and he turned to fact the pillbox doorway.

"Dammit!" he muttered. "Finish them."

"Right, Sir. Captain wants you to take yours and half of Dog company out Eastward," says the Private, pointing out east, "and take out any of Jerry that managed to slip through our troops. From there, you'll be on the North flank of Caer once the fighting starts. They'll rouse you on the Radio with more orders, sir."

((Last attempt at CPR-ing this RP. If this doesn't work, well, I guess it's dead.))

"Well that's just fine," Sgt Logan said. He loaded his gun and jogged forward, giving the hand signal for the others to follow behind him.

A tall hill lay before them, and it seemed quiet, bar the explosions in the distance. Sgt Logan crouched low and informed the others to do the same. He kept his gun at the ready, both hands holding it in case of an ambush. He looked cautiously around him and spotted nothing.

"Looks clear," he muttered, until a shot rang out and the soldier behind him was caught in the side of the head by a bullet.

Sgt Logan, just a second before, had glimpsed the flash of the gun out of the corner of his eye. On top of the hill was a sniper, heavily camouflaged or else Logan would be able to take him out right now. Instead, all he could do was get his squad out of the way while he called in for support.

"Sniper! Get to cover!!" he cried, lunging behind a barrel and pulling out his radio. "Chris! We have sniper fire coming from the opposite hill! Can you get to it?!"

Warping the mind of your enemy roots fear and hesitation. Take advantage and wipe clean the opposition in your way.

Running wildly throughout most of the night he found himself in the midst of his new victims from the night before. Artillary from offshore and shaken the hillside to life, as he hid with in the few dead krauts as others moved off the sight. The smell was sickening, pushing the Wermacht officer off of him as those 10in+ shells soared overhead. Sitting up was a pain in and of itself as he wiped blood from his face.

The hilltop was busy but calm...Well up until the crack of sniper fire sent this paratrooper diving in amidst the few dead bodies once again. Crawling towards the fire, he could hear it coming from below him, unfolding his carbine as he moved to eliminate the immediate threat.

Roland crept silently through the bushes from his drop site -- to be honest, five miles south of his drop site. The pilot, being amazing like all americans are, managed to dump all of the paratroopers he had had aboard during his heroic panic.

Stowing that thought, he listened to the sound of German soldiers talking -- hurriedly. Panicked. Roland smiled. The Allies had begun their invasion by now, and the news was deterring german soldiers behind the lines as well as along it.

He squatted and watched as two German soldiers were left behind as the rest ran off, probably to request permission to "Kill the cowboys." Roland, who had not found his belongings yet, was armed with only his revolver, which he preferred to save the ammunition for, and his combat knife. He had to be cautious.

Roland waited until the soldiers seemed preoccupied, talking to each other in German as they faced the battle they wished they could be a part of. He snuck out of the bushes then, and quickly slipped his left arm around one of the soldier's mouth as he brought the knife around, slicing his throat before he could scream. Pushing the body onto his friend, Roland bought enough time to disarm his remaining foe with one hand as he stabbed him repeatedly in the abdomen with the other.

He dragged the corpses back into the bushes, took one's luger and all the ammunition they both had for it, then snuck quietly onward towards where he had seen his belongings land.

"score two for 'er Majesty." He muttered.

--------------Meanwhile--------------------

Hans was finding out firsthand what it meant to "Shake in your boots." It had been a literal hell of sound, screams, and blood as he, somehow, stayed alive through disembarking and wound his way up the beach. But that all seemed like a blur now. Right now, he was crouched behind a sand dune, pinned down by a pillbox that didn't like his being that close, and hugging his rifle for dear life. Hans had never been religious, which made it all the more awkward for him to be praying now. He just wanted this war to be over, and prayed as if Hitler would up and die right then to stop the war around him, so that he could return home safely. When he had run away from home to enlist, he hadn't expected this kind of situation.
