MacPherson's Bar and Tavern IC

#1 Post by Twippit »

Wedding Day.

Mac popped open a bottle of bubbly for the honeymooning couple dispassionately, letting the spray foam about his hands and across the room. The wedding party laughed and cheered, dancing to the beat of the music that seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at once.

In the middle of it all was Mammon, all a-grin as he danced amid the group. "I must insist," he laughed to the groom, "go see Romath IV. It’s absolutely gorgeous for the next few centuries."
“I would,” replied the groom with a smile, “but my empire needs me back immediately following the ceremony. Besides, the Senate is waiting with baited breath to see their new queen!”
“Ah, but there will be time for all that later! Imagine... a pan-dimensional empire, all under your control. Just how pleased will the Senate be to see that, eh?” Mammon slapped the young man on the shoulder, and the groom’s eyes suddenly became very wide and tinted a slight shade of orange.
“Yes... Expand the empire...” he muttered distractedly. Then he shook his head and looked back at the demon. “I will certainly give it some thought. I must go now, to my wife. I am sure she has need of me. If you’ll excuse me...”
Mammon grinned. “Certainly.”

On the other side of the bar, the scene was much different. Metatron wandered between tables, serving drinks to ordinary(?) patrons, who were doing their utmost best to ignore the antics on the other side of the room while they nursed their drinks.

Titus watches wide eyed at the ruckus across the room, then shrugs. The young Synthetic turns back to his rootbeer, thinking to himself about what to do next. He couldn't seem to find a job back at 'home', mostly cause Synths aren't exactly looked on kindly, at least obvious ones like him....Ah well, he'd finally found the Bar, so he'd stay here a bit, then continue searching. Maybe he'd get lucky and manage to go to another demension.."Yaah, right,heh.."

"Heeeeeeey!" A slightly low pitched but clearly feminine voice drawled out from the seat next to Titus. "Hey, hey, hey!"

The owner of the voice made themselves very clear just moments later as a waving arm could be seen from the peripheral. Attached to that was a woman seated at the bar next to him, a pair of white cat ears twitching slightly on top of her head at every beat that came over the speakers. on the table slightly to her right hand side was a rather large metal attache case, glowing yellow lines and logo visibly covering the case. What exactly her expression was could not be discerned due to the visor covering the upper half of her face and the rigid fabric mask covering the bottom half. In her right hand was a shot glass filled with some unidentifiable glowing green liquid and garnished with, most peculiarly, a small plastic straw hanging off the edge.

Upon getting the Synth's attention she gave the lanky fellow a spine bending slap on the back, laughing uproariously as she did before resting her arm on the table, playing with her drink in her left as the blank visor turned to stare at the synth. Even through the tinted material of the visor, the presence of something staring out into the synth's eyes could be felt. "Now there! A bar's no place to be drinking your problems away, alone! That's what your house is for! What's the matter, hmm~?"

Even as she aspoke, the small cat ears moved subtly, shifting slightly to focus on the synth. Meanwhile with every sweeping movement she made, the impossibly quiet whirling of servos was audible at this distance.

Somewhat in the middle of this tavern(although she couldn't rightly tell) sat Diertre. Her long, tattooed ears twitched every now and then, tilting and turning to listen to some of the various voices of this establishment. Speaking of establishment, she wondered when in Hylia this place came to be. Seeing as how all she got were cheeky grins and vague answers, she decided she could live without knowing. This place was one of the best taverns she'd ever been in. It even served her favorite drink, sassafras root tea with red chu syrup drizzled in. As she finished the last of her current glass(an odd concept. Drinks were often served in bottles where she hailed from, and you had to bring your own. This tavern gave you complimentary wide-mouthed, lidless bottles, called simply{and stupidly, in her opinion} glasses), she raised her robed arm into the air.

As she waited, her eyes drifted over to the wedding. Diertre was familiar with the concept enough to know it was a wedding, but the music greatly threw her off. It was unlike anything she'd ever heard. Even the kokiri, with their wild symphonies, couldn't match the insanity of this music. She disliked it immensely, but wasn't one to try to have it stopped. They were being married; how could one ask for another's wedding music to be turned off? One must be incredibly rude to do so, which Diertre was most certainly not. And, while the music was unenjoyable, it was catchy, and it soon began to grow on her. After a minute or so, the bar's wait... tress? Yes, waitress, surely. The bar's waitress strode over to her, an inquiring look upon her unmistakably divine face.

"Excuse me, uh.. miss," she cooed, with a voice like the drink she enjoyed most, to Metatron. "Could you fill this b-- glass with sassafras tea, with a bit of chu syrup in, please?"

Nick stood patiently in the nothingness, waiting for the tavern door to appear. This wasn't his usual manner of traversal, but certain events created the need for a 'bridge'. Nick was lucky enough to know how to actually create a bridge, albeit a very basic and boring one.

He raised his arm, about to check his watch, when the door appeared. Nick opened it and stepped through without a second thought, only to suddenly be assaulted by strange music and noise from the wedding party.

"Huh. I'm almost dressed appropriately for a change. No invite, however." He murmured aloud, heading to the other side of the bar.

He found a table with only one other patron sitting at it and took a seat across from her. An elf, Nick guessed. Or something of the sort.

"Hello. Mind if I sit here?" He nodded towards the elf, then directed his attention to the server who had arrived at a convenient time. "I'll have a Tom Collins, please. Haven't seen you around here before... In-" Nick paused, frowning for a moment. "Metatron, yes?"

"No, I do not believe that she was here the last time we were both in this bar." Pulling a chair up and sitting down next to the Elf and Nick was a short woman, just a little over five feet in height with clear emerald green eyes and blonde hair. Dressed in plain clothing with no signs of make or manufacture beyond simple but masterfully placed stitches, the woman could be mistaken for just a simple human woman were it not for an almost physically palpable pressure of power that surrounded her. Giving the elf woman a curt nod she turned her focus to Nick with the slightest hints of a smile on her face. "It has been too long, Sir Nick. How many years has it been since we last met for you?"

"Ah, hello Lily. Nice to see a familiar face. You ask like I keep track anymore. A few hundred, probably. Less than a millenia, definitely."

"Sadly, some of us are actually capable of doing such a thing." Lily teased, tapping at a watch that seemed to appear on her wrist before disappearing underneath her sleeve just a moment later as she flicked her hand. "It has been almost a five hundred years on my end. Strange how time never seems to remain constant yet moves forward eternally for us. I must say, it is likewise comforting to see another person that I recognize. With our lifestyles, one can never tell when another has left the life behind by choice or force."

"I was, once. Stopped counting. Frees up my mind for other things, I suppose." Nick looked at his own watch reflexively, chuckling lightly. "Had this thing for at least a century. Haven't changed the battery once." He turned his arm to show Lily for a moment, then returned it to his side. "Some of us live more dangerous lifestyles than others. I, for one, enjoy keeping my head down."

"Mhmm~" Lily murmured, gaze growing distant as she remembered all the others she once knew and traveled with. How many were still out there, still writing their own stories? Still forging their own paths? "But there are themes in all our lives, repetitions that we will never be able to escape. Some of us, we choose to remember, to stand testament, you know? To never forget; it is a tough coin to carry."

She was silent for a moment before laughing lightly, a small grin on her face. "Of course, you already are aware of that! For you, I would most definitely say that to cheat is yours."

Turning her focus to the other occupant of the table, small grin on her face still, Lily tilted her head slightly as she noticed and realized that the elf was also a newcomer to the bar. Well, seeing as how the last time she was here was several decades ago, she had to suppose that the phrase newcomer probably was not the right phrase to use in this situation. A small spike of pressure could be felt as her attention was focused onto the other bar-goer. "Ah, my apologies, miss. I did not mean to intrude as I merely saw an old friend and wished to say hello. What brings you to MacPherson?"

The deity known as Kai walked slowly across the bar, towards an empty table. The table was what one would say, isolated yet quite visible. Kai had no intention of hiding his being here, quite the contrary, he wanted his pursuer to know exactly where he was. Nevertheless, it was irrelevant now, he was safe, that's all that mattered.

Sitting down and sighing, Kai spun a hand in the air and a bottle of Gruvin Blood wine seemed to manifest out of nowhere, although there was suddenly a blank spot on Mac's liquor wall with a few golden coins left at the spot. Popping the cork, made of a piece of solid bone, Kai cheered to the happy groom, quickly thinking of ways to bring a little spice to the marriage, mainly by bringing a little anarchy and revolt to the empire. Then again, it gets boring after the 17th time sense ones banishment.

Meanwhile, Faj was standing next to the counter, drinking lemonade of the earthly sort. Sour yet so sweet. She stared straight at Kai, whom seemed to be just sitting there, enjoying himself in his current solitude. To bad she couldn't just kill him. Never mind that it was against her father's wishes, she literally could not, Kai would simply manifest back somewhere, always a tricky thing, killing a God.

Then again, she did managed to chain up Tirik, that hound of a god, while he attempted to destroy a third dimension in the last century. Their was a bit to be cheerful for even though the puller of the strings was still free to do as he wishes...

Titus sighs, shaking his head." I guess it is what it is..."Then he hears a voice beside him. Blinking, he turns aand examines the woman, before getting a powerful slap on the back. His empty hand sparks in surprise, and he blinks as she examines him in turn...it was interesting..even through the visor, he felt it. A little surprised, he grins sheepishly, the huge, batlike wings on his back twitching as he shrugs, sctraching his head."Heh...but that's just it...I don't have a home. Sure, sure, I live in a shelter, but that's not a place you can call your own, you know? They don't give you homes till you prove you can support yourself, but Synths like me aren't exactly welcomed..I don't blame them, I guess. Some of us were made with....strong....instincts, and you never know, right? Its just...difficult.Doesn't help I look like a Daemon, hahahaha..." Titus furrows his brow in surprise. Why was he so chatty? The young synth looks down at his drink, taking a cautious sip. Nooooo...it was rootbeer, and no one had slipped anything...Huh.Ah well, guess that's what happens when you sit by yourself in a bar.He shrugs, and then blinks." Ah, my apologies! I'm Titus Chimera."He tilts his head, hearing the whirring of servos coming from her." I'm sorry...but are you a Made Being like I?

Metatron dutifully filled the elf's glass with the requested sassafrass drink and returned to the table where now the elf was accompanied by an immortal and a god. "Your drink, Miss."
The immortal turned to her. "I'll have a Tom Collins, please. Haven't seen you around here before... In-" Metatron winced at the near-mention of her True Name. The immortal paused, frowning for a moment. "Metatron, yes?"
"Yes, I am Metatron." Her voice dropped an octave and grew much quieter. "Death may not accept you in her cold embrace, Immortal, but there are places where you can spend eternity suffering that you need not die to enter." She leaned forward threateningly. "I would not use my True Name lightly." She then turned on her heel to retrieve one serving of Tom Collins.

Mac turned around and swiped the gold coins off the shelf behind him on his liquor wall and replaced them with a new bottle of Gruvin Bloodwine from under the counter. The music changed as the last song ended, to which Mac replied with a sincere "Hmph."
He turned to the mutant and the cyborg who were engrossed in conversation near him at the bar. "Hey, more rootbeer?" he interrupted gruffly to the mutant.

"That's a good question!" The woman answered, resting her hands on her face and clearly in thought. The sound of gears turning was almost audible as she pondered the question. "I am definitely an android of some sort to most worlds which means I am deeeeeefinitly a construct. But on the other hand, I'm preeetty sure that every member of the fleet back home has some level of genetic tweaking, modification, or alteration done to them at one point or the other. Hell, I think only one of the four races weren't created by something else."

Shrugging off the question both literally and metaphorically, she took a sip of her drink; a process which had a small port on the mask open up before the straw lined itself up to connect. "But first! Introductions~! I'm 705. You guessed it already but I'm an android maybe, kinda. I think. I might actually have a wetware CPU but I'm not entirely sure. Sometimes, when I think too far back, things get a bit fuzzy and blurry, you know? Usually just shrug it off and get back to the killing but sometimes the pain of being smacked into place by a battleship grade cannon not only brings me closer to that perfect zone, it even brings back something. Names and faces I only kinda remember."

Focusing as if doing so would bring back any examples, 705 was silent for a moment as she racked her memories to see if anything would come up only for nothing to happen. As expected of course. "Nope, nothing. That memory flash back then really didn't help anything since it really messed up some of my storage."

"Who knows, maybe I used to be squishy and they could only save my brain so they decided to 'upgrade' me. Wouldn't be the first or last time I've heard of it happening." 705 chuckled, amused as she recalled the antics of some of her fellow androids. For reasons she never quite understood, none of them were ever the stereotypical cold emotionless robot. Perhaps they were purposely trying to avoid the stereotype? Whatever it was, it certainly made for fun times and good stories.

"Even then, as far as combat grade androids go, I gotta say, I'm pretty high up there on the scale. Bit of an elite high end ace unit, you know?" Shrugging with a clear 'it is what it is' airs about her, 705 glanced back at Titus, ears twitching to focus on him once again. "So, if your looks are such a problem, why don't you embrace it? Be a vigilante, merc, or something?"

Faj examined the newcomer, a strange being wearing what they called a top hat, she thought. "The rules of the establishment allows you to sit where you want..." She said rather toneless. She only took her gaze away from Kai for a second bu it was enough, the God of Lies was gone, vanished. Although Faj began to boil with anger, it only showed as a small twitch in her left eye, stopping after a few seconds.

Sighing, she decided that she might as well take another earthly lemonade and properly address the fellow with the cane. "Tell me, lordling, you look the part of a lord, what is this Veshkar drink you speak of?"

Meanwhile, Kai seemed to have appeared from the shadow of a corner near the wedding. One hand holding his cane, the other holding a cup of blood wine, he seemed to glide on the floor instead of walking. "Congratulations to the couple to be." He said with a smile. "Truly the empire will benefit from the union. Always nice to see peace and joy blossom in dark ages or golden ages alike..." Again, a smile of complete sincerity, he made a small bow and glided further into the party.

This time, after spotting the one he seeked, his smile turned rather more devious, his eyes more wild, less... contained. "Mammon, old friend." Kai let out a grin and chuckled. "It has been to long... Still stuck here I see? Must be frustrating I'm sure..."

Mammon weaved through the crowd, having spotted an old pal.
"Mammon, old friend." Kai let out a grin and chuckled. "It has been to long... Still stuck here I see? Must be frustrating I'm sure..."
Mammon sighed. "You would not believe the kind of drudgery I'm put through every day." He smiled and indicated the wedding party. "At least I'm still allowed my fun. Organizing this was a headache, but the fallout will be worth it. Two universes, in ruins. I'd say I've truly one-upped you this time, eh?"
A young couple from the wedding party danced past them merrily, wide smiles pasted to their faces. Mammon's grin slowly faded from his face. "Oh, old friend, who are we kidding? We're old, banished. We don't have the same pull we used to. This is a young man's game, truly. Perhaps it's time to hang up the tricks."

Titus looks up at the gruff bartender." oh um..?yes,please. Thank you." he presents a digi-stick,which though nearly low on credits, still had enough to last awhile,so long as he only got drinks. Then the android girl info dumps on him. He's momentarily stunned, then smiles." It sounds..like you've had a interesting life. Its truly nice to meet you, 705." Then, he's asked why he doesn't just sign up as a merc,or become a vigilante."Well...um.......We Artificial Beings, we synths, are created created with one purpose in mine...Each and everyone of us were designed with a goal in mind. Me? I was the first of a series meant to become soldiers. But....there was a flaw...." He grins wryly." I didn't want to hurt anyone. I wanted to be a artist, a musician, a doctor....anything other than something that would wind up harming another being. They trained me,yes...but what good are skills without intent. So,they dropped it, and me." He shrugs, scratching the back of his head." And so, I wandered, without jobs, without prospects. Sure, I managed to get odd jobs, but they never last long, heh." He chuckles."I'm whining.Sorry about that." he looks at 705."So...I'm guessing you're a warrior, from the sounds of it."

Nick leaned forward to match Metatron's advance, if it could be called that. "I've been to some of those places. There's always a way out, you just need to know where to look."

Lily took that moment to cut in with a spark of electricity. "Or know who to contact."

"I do apologize for that, however. It is uncommon to encounter a being that has both a True Name and Face Name, and I can be a bit airheaded when it comes to names." He leaned back as she started to walk away. "Besides, I don't think Lily would take very kindly to you banishing me."

Afterwards Nick redirected his attention back to Lily and their conversation.

"I'm just as honorable as you, Lily, up until my existence is on the line. Although I suppose running away doesn't exactly count. Hm. Didn't you offer to teach me to fight, once? Properly, that is. Might have to take you up on that. Seems everywhere I go is dangerous these days."

"Oh! Right!" Nick shifted in his seat, looking at the Elf across from him. "Sorry, I got caught up in..." He gestured to a vague area around himself. "Didn't forget you were here. I'd like to echo Lily's question, what brings you here?"

A heavily-armored woman entered through the door, closing it quietly behind herself. She could have just popped in somewhere like a lot of the patrons did, but it didn't feel right to just appear. A quick glance around revealed an almost empty bar, although many of the tables had patrons. Always seemed to be an empty one, though. One of the many mysteries of MacPhearson's.

She moved surprisingly quietly across the room, taking a seat at the bar and nodding courteously to Mac. "Ale, please. Something strong." She placed several coins of various metal down on the counter, an estimate on cost based on her last visit.

Side: 705

"Nope!" 705 said, leaning forward towards Titus, resting her right arm and drink on th ebar. "I'm not a warrior, I'm a Kung-Fu Ranger Soldier Calvary Pilot. Don't think too hard about it, everyone gets confused about what I am."

"Now, enough about me though!" 705 continued, slate visor and black mask unreadable. "Why don't you want to hurt people? Violence is a pretty big basic function of the brain. I mean, just using myself as an example, I'm sure they have all sorts of things and wiring to ensure that I can become violent at the drop of a pin. But even despite that, I still want to go out to fight. Now, I'm pretty sure they made me for that role which means my creators were at least competent in that end but what caused you to not want to hurt someone?"

With that questions in the air, a shimmer in the air around 705 was just faintly present while the smell of ozone began to seep into the surrounding area.

"What made you different?"
