"i have a last concern in terms of communication...as you said earlier communication was cut of upon entering the atmosphere by the teams you sent previously, yet before activity the station replied fully correct?. My concern is now the atmosphere itself, are there readings of anything that could interupt signal? IONS, electronic acitivty, matter at all in the cloud cover or in the atmosphere after the activity began? i beleive that theres something more than we expect." Trevor said

"Hmph, the day I see Sergeants talking down to Master sergeants..." Isaak grumbled as he stood forward. "The Sergeant is right, sir, we'll need details of these facilities to better plan our operations on the ground. I mean jumping feet first into a potential deathtrap is my forté but as far as I'm aware, this isn't just another combat op.

Isaak took in the others. The attitude of that Gen 2 didn't help, whilst he didn't think much of many of Parangosky's IV's the fact that this one wore ODST armour was more of a kick in the face. Neither did the attitude of the M.Sgt. A senior NCO that is supposed to be a role model for the men under him. The other sergeant seemed a bit more professional about it, the rest he would have to wait to see how they developed... Still, it wasn't his main concern. His main concern was making sure they all got out alive, objective or no objective these people were going into the dark against an unknown force. Being another number on the casualty list ONI keeps throwing down to the surface didn't appeal too much to him.

"Dually noted sir. I'll remember that next time." Responding to Captain Moreau's. Meeting Moreau's stare with a cold one of his.

Taking things a bit more serious Leopold began to asked another, "Do we have any possible information or theories on this Forerunner relic you mention about or is most of it still in the research bases? Before communication lost with the surface. I believe it might be best to be prepare if it is the cause of what is happening or too dangerous to be left intact." Now waiting to see how the captain would respond to him again after his last remark, knowing that he wouldn't receive more welcoming answer after his outburst.

"So this may be a suicide mission, sir?" Rae piped in, having been silent up until this point. "Not exactly inspiring confidence in the poor Master Sergeant, there, Captain." She stifled a chuckle, the Marine was never going to live this one down. Then again, he may not be returning from the mission.

Blitz humphed once and turned to let his gaze fall upon the woman who spoke up. "I wouldn't be so sure, Sergeant Major. Way I see it, we're here today because we each have some kind of skill or experience which might prove useful out there. Somehow, I can see us getting through this alive, mostly." He paused for a moment, then sighed softly. "Although, I do share your sentiment. Let's hope for the best."

Reija kept silent, having remained still during the lengthy discussion. She did have a few unanswered questions which she refused to voice. (Was lethal force authorized?) Of course it was, you didn't send Spartans (And especially not two IIs) just to have a chat with a hostile unknown entity, especially not when backed by a NOVA timer. (How were they going to be split?) A redundant question, she'd know in a few minutes. The engineer(s) would likely split into separate groups, or the Spartan IVs could paired together, leaving one of the more experienced IIs for each group. She hoped the latter wasn't the case; Reija would rather be alongside one of the IIs. There was the itch to ask what their exact objectives were, and especially what this Forerunner artifact was supposed to be doing, but that should be handled as they approached their initial drop off.

She dismissed the idea of trying to boost their morale with confident remarks. A few of the group would probably react with annoyance if not outright hostility, and the others wouldn't be particularly affected either way. A dismal outlook, perhaps, but Reija had long since resolved to be thought a stoic instead of a gadfly if given options.

Especially around them.

Trevor stood silent in thought for a few moments listening to the others remarks. he soon looked at the others before keeping to himself. he looked at everyone and the spartans. "not many understand my methods. i bet these spartans think im a joke or something" trevor thought before reaching into one of the pockets of his chest armor and removing an item from it which he hid in his hand. he squeezed the hand tight and kept it at his side "like the missions before, ithis ones for him, the team, and the family. keep them in mind, they helped you through much and my mind has them now" trevor thought to himself. when he loosened his grip hints of metal could be seen in his palm. his mind rolled multiple subjects that made him seemed spaced.

Why the absence of specific orders? Is he as worried as we are, or is he just waiting? What if there are hostiles? Blitz's head rushed through countless dropoff scenarios in which they all died, then decided to shake it off. There was no point in going in without a solid modus operandi. He formed a quick idea as they came in to land, then checked his safety.

He jumped out of his pelican the instant it touched ground, taking out his DMR. He scanned the area for hostiles and hazards, and upon finding none, he lowered his weapon and turned around to address the Captain.

"Sir, No hostiles sighted. Recommend forming a secure perimeter so the engineers can investigate, as well as fireteams."

As David's boots hit the ground, he glanced around at the area. Flat brown eyes flitted around as he took in the forests and the buildings, filing the details away for future reference. Even before his boots hit the dirt, he received the orders from the ODST Captain. Typical, more focused on vague shouts that had a semblance of a command rather than an actual order.

Standing firm, the shotgun's pistol grip in his hands and angled to the ground, David nodded to himself slightly before clicking his heels together.

"Alright. Here is the plan," He stated, tone monotonus. "Spartans Zane, Alex. You two will each form a fireteam with two Marines each. You will be the leaders and will secure our perimeter. Spartan Zane, your armour should be tougher than Spartan Alex's and be capable of withstanding enemy fire for a longer period of time. Therefore, please scout and secure the perimeter edge of the base. We lack eyes there and if an ambush occurs, you should be able to withstand the fire long enough to reach cover. Spartan Alex, would you please scout and secure the area closer to the center of the base. The area is littered with cover and your smaller and presumably lighter armour will be at an advantage there."

Turning to the Marines and ODSTs, he pointed at two of them with his off hand: Issak Schafer and Leopold Eisenberg. "Second Lieutenant Schafer and Master Sergeant Eisenberg, you two will assist Zane. You are equipped with battle rifles and in the event that you are attacked from the forest, they should prove to be an asset in firing back." Even before he got acknowledgements, he turned and pointed to another pair: Rae Foley and J.D. "Sergeant Major Foley, Captain Fawkes, please assist Spartan Alex. You two are equipped with lighter short ranged weapons. They should prove to be more useful in the event of urban combat. Fireteams, take up a wedge position with the Spartan taking point. If any hostiles present knows us by reputation, they will likely attack the Spartans first. The Spartans should be tough enough for you Marines and ODSTs to take out the hostiles before they receive critical damage or injury."

Without waiting for further acknowledgements, he pointed at both the [GEN]2 Spartans, flat eyes staring out at the two. "Spartan Fronstedt, Spartan Hampstead. You two will investigate the previous team's pelicans. They may still contain vital information that we may utilize in our mission. Spartan Hampstead, you are tasked with protecting Spartan Fronstedt in the event of an ambush."

Finally, he turned to the last Marine and the Doctor. "Private Berell, you and I will remain with the Doctor to ensure his safety. Any hostile in the area should be easily dispatched by my MA-37 and in the event of injuries dealt to the doctor, you will be vital in ensuring the doctor's long term survival."

With proper informative orders doled out, David turned to the group as a whole and gazed out at them, flat expression on his face.

"Any questions or clarifications?"

(OOC: hotep, if this conflicts with someone else you wanted to do, being my escort and all, let me know and we can work it out.
EDIT: Information contained within has been given from GM regarding damages, etc.)

Reija glanced at the new source of orders for a moment in silence, but nodded firmly and strode on, periodically checking her motion sensors to be sure that her escort followed. She headed towards the nearest downed Pelican with Battle Rifle in hand, gaze flickering over the crippled aircraft that was southwest of their landing area.

Twisted frame burnt black in several places, shattered cockpit; ruined thrusters-it had either been shot down or used as cover against the enemy upon landing. The black box inside should be useful for determining which scenario had occurred, perhaps even both. Given the current lack of communications, the unknown hostiles could have a hidden base as well as a presence in or nearby the facility.

Scorch marks consistent with Covenant, but no other signs. Why the excessive friendly fire? Grey eyes narrowed as she traced the bodies…or lack. The IV changed directions, her path now arcing around the Pelican. More pieces of fallen armor were strewn about, yet still no sign of the teams sent before them beyond their equipment. Where did they go? Covenant didn’t care about bodies unless they were special. The Flood? No blood. Flood always leave behind their disgusting fluids, or at least that of those they convert.

Reija called in the oddities as she neared the first downed Pelican slowly. “No bodies or blood, sir, but signs of friendly fire and plasma. No clear direction of attack. Helmet recorders or any surviving Pelican black boxes could have something, but this doesn’t match any usual behavior from Covenant, Flood, or rebels.”

(ooc: im good with it)
Trevor in the pelican sat silently he had a datapad with markings on the entry. by the time they entered and the electronics gave way and began malfunctioning he marked down the height. he then sat straight untill landing. when the doors opened he grabbed his bag then followed reija to the other pelicans. he entered another that seemed to have tryed landing successfully its gears down. "lets see here" trevor thought. He went straight to the cockpit. "broken window, no bodies, lots of dents. looks like this one has been here awhile longer." Trevor grabs his bag and pulls out his data pad. "No bodies here. but the inside looks as if there was fighting. it may still be able to run if the engines are still good and we can get it some power. but wed have to work on it for awhile." trevor said before regrouping with reija he let out a sigh seeing the extensive damage. "geez. find anything?" trevor asked before checking the lockers and storage compartments he could find.

Rae stepped off the Pelican a moment after everyone else, having been checking the contents of her pack on the flight in. She caught the sparse orders from the Captain, but before she could say anything about it the Armyman started giving out orders.

It was amusing to see a Sergeant giving orders to so many troops who were higher ranked, even more so to see the troops following those orders. At least he knew what he was doing.

"Careful who you order around, Sergeant." She warned, though her words lacked hostility. She then walked over to the Spartan in purple, nodding to signal her readiness.

"It's alright, just follow them as if they're my own, Sergeant Major." Fawkes said as he formed up with the ODST and Spartan. The ODST Captain just nodded his head towards the entrance to the base, "Let's get this over with, base plans indicate that a control center is at the center of the base, two objectives can possibly be found there."

Blitz blinked twice at the sudden commands coming from the Sergeant, but shook it off. He was technically equal in rank to Blitz, but still, such direct commands, unprecedented? He put it out of his head; the orders were still solid, and he supposed they were splitting up as he suggested anyways. Good to see we're getting direction, at least.

He held his DMR at idle again, turning to face the soldiers approaching him, and nodded. "Sergeant-Major Foley, Captain Fawkes, let's do this."

He led the team over to the main entrance to the base, and immediately noticed something worrying. The doors, likely sealed at the time of attack, had been bent open by some immense force, leaving a medium-sized hole in the metal. He looked back at the group warily (though they couldn't see his face). "I don't like the look of that." Pressing forward, he crawled through the hole and turned on his nightvision to face the hallway before him.

Rae waited a moment before climbing through after the Spartan. If it had been trapped, she didn't want to get caught in it, and the Spartan's shields likely would have saved him.

She turned on the low-light vision in her helmet, looking around the area they were in. She spotted scorch marks nearby, and flicked the safety off her MA37, surveying the area for any hostiles. No bodies.

"Is the power off or are the lights blown?" She asked no one in particular through internal comms.

Fawkes took once last look around the hallway, activating his helmet's VISR system, before climbing through the hole in the door. All the objects inside the room were quickly outlined in yellow, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

Except of course for the overturned furniture and the mess covering the floor. Yet there was nobody her, atleast that was still here. "What could they have been looking for here?" Fawkes muttered under his breath.

The company safely inside the base, they kept moving deeper until they reached a corner. Blitz put a finger to his helmet, then, pulling out his SMG, he stepped and pivoted into the corner. "Safe," Came the call through the radio. As they continued, Blitz noticed that many of the doors to other rooms or hallways had been forced open in a manner similar to the front entrance, albeit with more appropriately-sized holes He poked the barrel of his gun through one of the openings to inspect the contents of the room, only to find it eerily similar to the pelicans outside. "Scorch marks, a little blood, but no bodies or identifiers. Definitely not Flood, thank god, but then what would've done this?" He paused and looked up at the ceiling. "Hey, what did they study here? Plant life, building materials, artifacts, what? I wonder if maybe the hostiles were looking for something."

"Forerunner stuff, mostly. Though it would only make sense to study the Flora and Fauna on the planet, as well." Rae responded to the Spartan's question, though she didn't sound all that sure herself. She glanced into one of the siderooms, noting the same things the Spartan had seen in the other.

"I wonder if this is another Shield World fiasco." She thought aloud, still trailing behind the Spartan.

"Don't know, but as far as ONI knows, the planet has not reacted to the arming of the Halo array. But I also wouldn't rule that idea out just yet, either way." Fawkes replied to the Rae's question. The ODST captain kept his rifle constantly sweeping the corridor ahead of him, taking note of the increasing number of scorch marks that lay ahead of him. THe deeper they went, the more that the inside of the base looked like there had been a one sided fight. There were directions on the wall that read, "Control center >>>". "We're getting closer, the control center should have the computer terminals with all the data collected from the research here... that is if whoeve seems to have attacked the base didn't take or destroy it already. We may also find the A.I. there as well... if it's still there."

"There's no power," Rae noted, "We'd see some working lights by now if there was. The terminals likely don't have backup. Maybe we should take a detour, see if we can get it back on."

Blitz nodded in agreement. "An AI, especially military-grade, would likely have its own backup system, but without the same resources as a standard base, I can't imagine one surviving long." A horrible thought suddenly popped into his head. "Good god, I hope this isn't the result of rampancy. That would be an emergency on top of all this." He sighed and shook his head again, then continued on with the others. As he walked, he peered into the various corridors and laboratories leading out of their hallway, finding nothing but the same puzzling clues. Finally, reaching the end, they faced a corner covered in plasma burns, and the charred remains of what appeared to be a marine's helmet and a labcoat. "If this was Covena- sorry, Remnant, they sure were messy about it," Blitz toned blankly. He'd almost stopped caring about the dead. He just wanted to get out of here with their objectives. He faced the door to the control room and stepped forwards, but staggered to a halt when it failed to open. "Stand back," he said, frustrated. Holstering his SMG, Blitz wedged his knife between the doors and forced them open just enough to get a grip on the frame. Then, with two sharp shoves, he tore the plating out of its rails and threw them on the floor. "Probably... could have done that more.... *whew* quietly."

"The AI's still three years from when they normally start to go rampant. But who knows what the hell happened here." Rae shrugged, continuing to check the occasional storage room or laboratory as they went along.

Rae uttered a curious 'huh' when they spotted, for the first time since landing, actual remains. "Looks like the cleanup crew missed something." At this point, it really was the only logical conclusion. First sealed door they'd seen since entering the facility, too.

"You know I'm carrying C-7, right? It's amazing at opening doors." Amusement crept into her voice. "Makes a better entrance, too."

Captain Fawkes noticed the same sealed door as the other, before it was torn off the frame. "Well that's one way to open a locked door... let's just hope you didn't wake anything in there." The ODST Captain took a careful step into the room before them. He quickly swept the room with his rifle before waving the others in and said, "Clear". The room that was still dark as his helmet's VISR system highlighted the room, and lit up a high, wall mounted camera in the corner."Well if the A.I. is still kicking, it should be able to see us now" He thought as he step towards the camera and waved at it. After a few moments, nothing happened. The ODST Captain just sighed and turned to face the other ODST and Spartan when the lights weakly flickered to life. The console in the middle of the room lit up to reveal a small holographic image of a hooded figure with two glowing eyes that glanced around at the soldiers in the room.

"Yeah. How much longer you are going to look at that tree for?" Leopold answer in bit of a angry tone. Constantly surveying the surrounding forest line. Showing small signs of anxiety and a bit of worry. So far this mission had cause nothing but worry to him. Signs of fighting and yet no signs of bodies of any kind. The downed pelicans from earlier didn't bring anymore of reassurance to him either. "You better hurry up looking at that tree. Before whatever out there decide to comeback." As he begin to walk a little bit slowly still trying to keep his eyes on the forest line and anything that might be important. Only stopping for a sec and looking over at Zane, "Finding anything that might be note worthy?"
