Holy Sapia: When the Stars Fall!

#1 Post by Geo_&_Bio »

Chapter One: The Opened Way.

The Galaxy has gone hollow. Termites and maggots now feast on a once powerful empire. Even now, order seems to fail at handling the now upstart nations. What seemed like something that was going to last forever died with little trace of existence. Many tried to take its place and all failed in their greed. No one remembers how the long dead empire started to fall or when it actual fell in the first place. Some never knew there was a previous empire that ruled the galaxy, while others display it as a mere myth. But that is life in a way. One will fall from grace while another will take its place upon the glorious mantel. This throne can only be taken with war, and as the old proverbial saying states, “War is not about who is right, but who is left.”

But who are you to decide on who is to take the mantel of power? What are you, a tiny speck lost in the sea of war and the maze of political unrest, going to do about it? Well, while others lose money by enforcing their beliefs on who should be left, you will reap the rewards as you make a profit off war and destruction. You will be a sword that is loaned for money. You are here to make due in this shattered world, this crumbling galaxy, this fallen star.
_______________

Nearing the grey and light blue world of Fornthis lays nothing but dark space, a deep nothingness that is surrounded by stars of other worlds. Stations hovering near the planet’s atmosphere keeps an eye out for movement. Rumor says that their natural belligerent, the Federation of Gorana has made movement against their fair nation due to political discrepancy. Treaties can hardly last in this day and age, with resources becoming scarcer due to this constant strife and mistrust. Few trading nations are able to make a profit; however, they can only fool the more naive politicians of naive states, which are now so few. It was foreseen that aggressive action would occur with each other.
Just as suspected, movement was detected by the surrounding stations. An exit from Hyperspace and a ton of ships the “radar” was able to recall. The Aquarti fleet was ready for this, however. The Planet Forenthis is the weakest Stronghold Planet in the series and it easy for the Imperial Aquarti to understand where the Federation was going to attack. But they will fight with all their might, the Aquarti, for if they lose this planet, the Federation will have a grand advantage over the little empire and the capital will be under siege.
Hoards and hoards of ships entered the new battlefield, all uniform, with the exception of one odd looking ship. A Naval Battle will be the first encounter for obvious reasons, stop the enemy before they reach the ground and you win the war with minimal causalities. The Federation and the Imperials are going to have a big fight on their hands.

Within the Federation fleet lays a small ship that houses two thousand strong. It is not the same as the others. When war comes, it is always good to acquire help from other sources than your own as people are precious resource in the new world of war. More people you have on your side, the higher the chance of winning and the less chance of losing said people. Admiral O’Cleary walked onto the bridge of his ship, Starfall, the outlying ship in the large fleet. LTC Cruz called the room to Attention “Admiral on Deck!” Those who were not busy with running the ship all stood at attention as Cruz gave her salute. O’Cleary returned his salute. “Sir, the Federation is in position and we are ready to execute our plan. Once the Federation makes their move, our pilots will have to navigate through the naval battlefield in order to reach the planet. Luckily, the Federation brought more ships.” The Admiral nodded back, “Good, good. However, planet side will be a tough call. We’ll need a good location in order to set up our Forward Operating Base so we can flood the Feds through. We’ll have to mark it when we drop our soldiers.” Cruz agreed; the layout of the map is quite awkward for most positions of operating bases. Luckily for the company, there are many military strongholds that would suit the needs of a Forward Operating Base. “Tell Ruark to get the company ready for deployment. Each mercenary has his or her own assignment that they’ll fulfill, but we will need those boots on the ground.” Cruz accepted the task.
Sergeant Major Ruark started banging on doors, “Time to Drop! Get ready, you all have ten minutes to get to your respective pods and prepare to drop.” Ruark haunted the hallways very audibly. It was time for everyone to prepare for orbital strike. As the entire company prepares their descent, they were all handed various forms of information, but everyone got the same basic info about the current situation.

Current Status: 100% accountability
Current Contractor: The Federation of Gorana
Mission Location: Stronghold Planet Forenthis
Mission Object: Invade the planet, Create and Defend a Forward Operating Base, and Open the way for the Federation to commence a powerful strike against the Imperial Aquarti.

The Deck:
Ace of Spades: Governor Valis, head of the Royal Stronghold of Forenthis
Ace of Clubs: Chairman Frank Valis, Head of the Department of Defense and son to Governor Valis.
Ace of Diamonds: Director Dauhn, Head of the Special Security Services.
Ace of Hearts:Chairman Erats, Head of the Secret Services of Intelligences and Figure of the Royal Party.

Unique units: Spider-like tanks cover most of the urban areas. They traverse solid surfaces with ease, leaving debris behind in their wake. Their military predators are aircrafts and airborne units.
The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Aurore closed her eyes and took a deep breath: This was it, the primary assault against Forenthis. The company had been preparing for over a week now, but Aurore was still nervous. Don't let it show, she thought to herself, Upbeat, chin raised, all smiles. She opened her eyes again and began to move.

The hallway she was in linked to all the Mercs' quarters; She jogged forward a few doors and turned left, slapping the sensor with her had as she entered her room. As she pulled on her combat vest, she could hear the other mercenaries preparing for the task at hand, Ruark yelling for them all to get suited up. She wasn't going to need a ton for this mission in particular; She was a support pilot, and what with the terrain, flying was a perfect option. Still, she holstered her pistol, shoved her helmet awkwardly on, grabbed her SMG, and made her way out the door. Only when she slammed face-first into it did she remember to put her right arm on. Gah, so much to do.... I bet the others don't have to deal with squeaky joints or broken ports, she grumbled to herself as she twisted the arm into its socket.

Finally ready, she began to make her way to the hangar, where her ship was waiting.

((Finally! ))
"Yo Burk, catch!" The green android chucked something to his comrade, who caught it with ease. "Thanks mate, knew I was forgetting something."
XMHCU-000HRY, or "Henry," had been helping his fellow divisionmates pack their necessary supplies.
Unlike himself, they would actually need to bring such things as first aid kits, food supplies, and backup weapons for when they strapped in to what most refered to their "second skins."

Most of the mech pilots he worked with were quite nice, which was unusual for a mercenary company.
He wasn't complaining however, because having people who care isn't something one of his position could usually expect. The flow of personnel continued unabated through the hallway, easily moving around and sometimes even over him. Moving his body against the wall, Henry did a quick check that he wouldn't be in anyone's way, then he just stopped moving.

In the blink of an eye, Henry's point of view changed. No longer was he a large combat android in a hallway full of troops. Instead, he was his "true" self, the mass of armor, weapons and sensors that rested gently in mech slot 3. He took a few milliseconds to run a system diagnostic, before bringing up his lower hull camera. Mech techs crawled over every other square inch of him, checking power supplies, hydraulics, and ammo loadouts. The crew chief noticed his active eye, and flashed him the hand signal for engine start.

Almost immediately, a low whine started to echo throughout the bay, quickly rising to a feverish pace and earsplitting sound before dropping back down. "Power output holding!" One of the crew techs yelled over the other noise in the bay, "Motive systems are good, all systems check out."

The crew chief walked over to a staircase helpfully placed so as to climb up the hull, then started his ascent. Once he reached the top of the platform (which still came a good 10 feet lower than the main spine running down the front. "Alright Henry, we've gone over everything and you're fully ready for combat. As you've probably noticed, we've replaced the number 3 ram and overhauled the number 5 driver. We don't have the time to fully calibrate them for you though, so remember to do that once you land." "Got it, and thanks," Henry replied, through a small speaker mounted next to his eye.

"Don't mention it. HEY, DON'T DROP THAT!" The crew chief was off once again, and Henry shut off his mics to shield himself from the constant noise. Across the bay, he could see the other pilots scrambling into their machines. Hopefully this OP will go smoothly. With that, Henry switches back to his smaller body, and started to move with the flow.

Out of nowhere, a woman appeared, helmet on and SMG at her side, and Henry (now going at a reasonable speed) tried to swerve to avoid her. Just barely swerving, he stopped and turned back.
"Sorry about that, I shouldn't have been moving that fast. Do you need any help?"

The ship rumbled under his feet as it moved ever forward, or the welder would like to imagine. This ship was to "fancy" for him, no rumbling, no fans, no air ducts, all fancy and organized and silent as a mouse, nothing like a good old klank ship. Nevertheless, the welder known as Klankeros was still as happy as a pup, he had heard about the spider like tanks that this sorry excuse for an empire used and he would love nothing more then to tinker with one. The more broken and beat up the better, that way Klankeros can spice it up the Klanker way!

His lightbulbs for eyes flashed twice in the darkness of his "office", which by any definition looked more like a scrapyard stuffed in a tiny little room, as his hands swiftly went from one spot to another across his desk. By the looks of it, he was modifying some type of phaser rifle. For Klankeros, phasers and lazers always were boring, nothing like a good piece of lead or metal going faster then the speed of sound only to violently explode upon impact, now that was weapons he liked working on. Nevertheless, a phaser was given to him and a phaser has been repaired.

"Fish-head!" The welder called out, a certain hint of impatience in his voice. "Your flashbulb of a gun is ready!" That time he said mocking at the mans choice of weaponry. "You better shut it anarchist if you know whats good for you." The xenos soldier said menacingly to Klankeros, clearly not liking the man. No sooner that he finished his threat though that he found three mechanical arms jutting at him, two grabbing his arms and one his throat, the one at the throat slowly tightening. "Fish-head needs to learn to shut his gills when his betters are thinking!" Klankeros growled, pressing and pulling several levers around the room which deactivated the mechanical arms, quickly followed by a swift kick into the xenos guts which sent him flying out of Klankeros's little office. "Now [censored] off fishy, you have a mission to prepare for." With that the man closed the door and locked it, he was done for the day and was taking a break, not even the sergeant bothered Klankeros when he took his break.

The war between the Imperial Aquarti and Federation of Gorana was, while sudden, not something that had been completely a surprise. Troops had been moved, ships prepared for war, and fortifications set up in preparation to defend against an attack. While the planet was still weak in comparison to the rest of the fortress planets, it was by no means unprepared. Of course, with the movement of men and soldiers came the movement of people who would seek to profit off the soldiers. Businessmen carrying common creature comforts, entrepreneurs setting up restaurants and bars wherever possible, more criminal elements supplying chemical pleasures, and men and women working the oldest trade in civilization.

So while seeing a woman with canidae ears and a fox like tail was odd, her presence could be very easily explained. Take the very brief clothing that the women wore, coupled with how she only appeared to walk the streets in the evenings and night, and then add the fact that she took resided in a well known brothel equated to her being an "exotic" good for those with a taste that was slightly more deviant in nature. After the initial shock of having an alien among them, her near human nature and appearance soon saw to it that they pushed her to the side of their mind. She wasn't a dangerous soldier sent to kill their commanders, just another streetwalker in search of some drunk soldiers to profit off of. The fact that she was never actually seen with a soldier was simply just a testament to how much the soldiers of the Imperial Aquarti despised xenos.

Sadly all of that could not be further from the truth. First of all, Dearc could testify to the fact that the soldiers of the Imperial Aquarti did not in fact, hate xenos enough to prevent them from propositioning to her. She could also confirm that they were almost all universally lousy at dealing with a dominant woman. That spoke more about them to her than all the information she had gathered over the last two or so weeks. Snorting at the memory of one particularly pathetic man, she laughed softly at the memory of how he had tried to defend his performance. Still, it wasn't like she was here on a pleasure trip. The last two weeks had been spent with her sending out feelers. catching up on rumors, and generally eavesdropping and spying on the state of the city she was in. She had chosen a city that had grown out around a more remote military base for various reasons, chief of which was that she could be close to her targets without having to risk being discovered by someone she couldn't silence

Still, those points were irrelevant now. Just idle thoughts to keep herself occupy her mind while she tried to fit on this damned base suit. The proprietor of the fine establishment she was staying at had a deal with her. The madam would smuggle her luggage and her onto the planet and not ask any questions. In return, Dearc would help pay off the costs of doing so by helping out around the establishment. The fact that Dearc paid up front in cash once they made it onto the planet surprised the proprietor. Though not as much as the fact that Dearc elected to stay around the building. Of course, she had to pay rent to do so but Dearc was effectively free to come and go whenever she wished. She didn't even have to pull out any of her weapons or some other show of force to show that she wasn't like the more fragile human women that they kept. Certainly nothing that involved breaking a steel serving tray with her hands.

The broken serving tray that was nailed onto the door of her room was just decoration, after all. Just a very oddly designed mirror.

In any event, when the alarms had gone off Dearc had already left with all her luggage. True to the madame's word, nobody had disturbed the items within or checked for their legality. Which meant that she was essentially on the planet fully armoured and ahead of the rest of the Starfall group. Unfortunately, she couldn't effectively disguise or pretend that anything other than her handgun was for self defense. Of course, none of that mattered if she couldn't actually zip up the damn suit.

"There we go" She muttered, the annoyance in her muted, as the zipper finally decided to unstick itself. "I ought to get you replaced one of these days you worthless piece of metal."

From that point, Dearc moved by rote as her hands flew over plates and attached them with military precision. Soft muscle packages were placed over her various limbs and they shifted in slight ways to conform to her body shape. Composite plates were attached, the metal bending slightly as nanowires within the plates were either charged or turned off to stiffen or soften the slabs of armour. Fitting the muscle packages and armor plates on her back were, as usual, annoying thanks to a combination of her tail getting in the way and nobody being around to help secure it. Still, even with that, it took about ten minutes from her leaving the building to putting on most of the armour. Glancing down at a still intact window in the alley she found herself in, she spun around slightly to check that everything was put on correctly. Certainly at all not to check herself out in the window and how the plates and bodysuit seemed to accentuate her curves, slim limbs, and chest. That was, if she was ignoring the fact that said curves was covered by the hand grenades, det charges, and beacons that she had smuggled onto the planet with the help of several of her more underworld contacts.

Nodding to herself with pride at having managed to accomplish something even veterans found annoying to do, Dearc reached into one of her pouches to preform the last part of the arming and armouring. Pinning her hair down. While she could get her hair cut short, she liked having long hair. It looked good on her and served to make the locks that have been cut shorter and styled stand out. As the last of the hairpins restricted her hair from getting caught outside, she picked up the top half of the helm. The bottom half, consisting of a combination of air supply and rebreather, was built into the top of the gorget of her armour. Sliding it over her head, the pieces connected with the bottom half and sealed with a quiet hiss.

For a moment, Dearc's world consisted of pure darkness. Then the light of her HUD ignited as the suit booted up, illuminating her grinning face. On the outside, six red eyes arranged into a rough W shape lit up and flared before dropping to the intensity of a dull flashlight. Standing, the armoured feminine figure glanced skywards and a laugh, harshened by an electronic touch, rang out. They looked about, a soft nostalgic sigh escaping their exterior speakers.

"Well, I suppose it's time."

With that the figure pulled themselves deeper into the alleyway and pulled out a beacon from one of their many pouches while unholstering their laser pistol from the other. Though the passive stage of their job was over, they still had to move onto the active phase of their job; and the first part of that required them to plant that beacon to guide in the rest of their comrades. There was that nice field that they had scoped out earlier and if their expectation proved correct, then it should not be filled with armoured vehicles yet. Another harsh barking laugh rang out before the the figure melted into the shadows of the alley.

Lugging his hull cutter on his back, his heavy machine gun in one hand, and his mace bouncing off his leg, Frederick laugh at his orders. Little information with just the basic goal and objective would bring a little concern to most, but to him it was just more fun to him. The great "fog of war" out there on the battlefield to him was nothing more but another surprise to him and more fun in what he is going to do out there.

Reaching his drop pod and loading most of his gear inside, turn with a sudden look at a number of other soldiers approaching him. Gives off a big laugh in greeting them, ""You guys ready to go into hell again?"

"You know that always the plan," one of them replied with no hesitation.

"You know what we are!?" Frederick shouted trying to get the others and anyone else around him wilder up for the mission.

"We are shock troopers!" they replied in a roar.

"what's our motto!?"

"Feet first in hell!" They all shouted before disposing and heading their separate ways with a cheer and a woo as they leave Frederick.

With that sudden uproar filling the hanger for a second, quickly finishes loading the last of the heavy gear in. Trying to stay limper up before the drop. Waiting for the call to drop the only thought going through his head, "Its going to be another good day."

Azriel moved for the first time in days as an upload began, information dropping into his virtual gaze as he sat in the hangar. It was what he had been waiting for, though he could not define how long - time had been strange, having lived so unnaturally long and without age or need for sleep.

Azriel rose. Metal plates slid aside as he compressed his form, his full height unable to fit within the dimensions of the company's standard drop pods. It was enough to draw a reaction from the soldiers preparing around him, stepping back as he lifted his heavy axe and stretched his joints. "It is time, then." came the deep tones of his synthetic voice, small whirs and clicks signalling a thousand different processes deep within his shell.

His gaze roamed across the room, lingering upon Frederick for a moment, given that he was one of the few people tall enough to actually out-scale him if only in his reduced form, before he made for one of the pods.

"Woah!"

Aurore was startled by the giant robot which suddenly filled her vision, but not startled enough that she couldn't get out of the way. Ducking, she swung between its legs and slid under, then picked herself off the ground, slightly exasperated. Just when she thought this day couldn't get any better, here was another obstacle to pass. (Granted, she'd probably be less annoyed on any other day. She supposed that was just how the chips fell.) "Don't... Just, don't worry about it, okay? Thanks for the offer though.... um," She paused, waiting for a name.

"Henry. My name's Henry." Henry would have gone on further, but a message flashed up on his HUD. "I must apologize, but I am needed in the mech hanger. We will have to continue this at a later date."

With that, Henry took off at a fast paced jog which send him flying down the passageway.
A few minutes later he arrived at the bay and, still jogging, went over to his main body.
"Sorry I'm late, I got distracted. Load me up."

Finishing up his daily exercise/check-up, Janus stretched and stared into the mirror in his quarters, casually scratching the unshaved beard on the dark toned face that was looking back at him. He could barely recognize himself, but here he was, rolling with yet another merc group. He tapped his dim eye, a completely redundant action but he still did it anyways, as he started the internal diagnostics up, which made it glow a faint blue. On the outside it seemed like he was just staring into the mirror, but his thoughts and a portion of his vision was covered in feedback about every artificial part of his body, as soon as that was done, he did the same for Lupus which made the canine jump out of his sleeping spot.

"Sorry boy, but I gotta make sure you're all good before we go."

Lupus barked at him, which he promptly ignored after all checkups came back with a green light and started getting ready. The armor was thankfully lightweight and cooperative, which couldn't be said about all the various equipment on board this ship. The cooperative part definitely didn't get awarded to the food, but he learned to live with that. Lupus was kind enough to bring him the rifle, which he slung over his back as he holdstered the pistol on his leg and packed up some ammo. With everything he could think of in order, he patted the dog and headed to his drop pod.

"To leg Lu, you'll have plenty of room to roam planetside."

He rolled the vague information they were given in his head. Not much except setting up a forward base, his first order of bussines should be contacting the forward intel already on the ground, Dearc, a thought which brough a smile on his face and made Lupus run a bit faster to the drop pod. Janus sighed at that and urged him into his spot, knocking on Cole's pod on the way to remind him he wasn't the slowest being on this ship. He quickly got strapped in and set his implanted comm unit to the correct frequency, signaling he's ready for drop and awaiting further orders.

Sergeant Major Ruark was pounding on every door repeating the same lines. When he got to Sorcha’s room, he knocked a different pattern altogether. “Hey Twifan, are you ready?” Ruark bellowed. Sorcha was already in her suit after testing every piece of equipment. She opened her door, revealing lots of electronics that are scattered around her room. “I am ready, Sergeant Major.” Sorcha responded. Ruark nodded and then whispered, “Mi’lady, I have arranged a party for your defense when you hit the planet. They’ll take care of your well-being.”
“The Hawk Gunners?” Sorcha inquired, Ruark nodded. “Understood Sergeant Major. I’ll get into my respective area then.” Ruark smiled a bit, but then turned around and barked once again. “YOU HAVE 5 MINUTES TO GET TO THE LAUNCH PAD.” He continued to rally the mercenaries to the launching zone.

Sorcha made it to the her launch area. A group of men formed around her. “Hello there, ma’am. Marina Twifan, right? Sergeant Major Ruark placed us under your command. We’ll assist you on the battlefield. Though, when we fall, we may be separated; we should still be near each other if that’s the case.” Sorcha responed with “Got it. How many men will be assisting us?” The man responded with “About six, including me. Shouldn’t fret though. One thousand of us are dropping out of the sky to the same location, I believe. Dearc should set the coordinates for our central location. Anyways we should get ready.”

_______
Admiral O’Cleary viewed the negotiations between the Federation and the Aquarti. It is usually battle courtesy to negotiate out of war before fighting. “If less blood can be split, the better” according to the rules of war. However, the federation and the Aquarti were definitely not interested in peace at this given time. They have taken far too much time and spent far too much money to even consider the option for peace. Ruark entered the bridge after finishing up with his rallying near the quarters area. “Damn, I wish I could fall with them.” Ruark mumbled begrudgingly. “I would consider the thought, but you’re far too important for the company to leave. I would hate myself for letting one of my best men eat a bullet.” Ruark shrugged, it off. “Yeah, but I just want to fall, get back and fight with the soldiers. That’s why I joined the company in the first place.”

LTC Cruz interrupted the conversation, “Sorry Admiral, but it seems that they are quickly getting the negotiations done and getting prepared to fire.” Admiral O’Cleary sighed a bit, getting ready to set the battle plan in motion. “Alright, let’s get Dearc on the line. We need a synchronized landing zone for our guys.” “Roger that, sir.” LTC Cruz began to hail to their person on the Aquarti planet, Dearc. “Dearc, if you can hear me, I need you to find our landing location and send up exact coordinates for said landing. After that, resume your mission. Over.” LTC Cruz stood there, waiting for a response.
The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Aurore strode into the hangar, shaking her head at her encounter with the robot. "Boys, is my ship ready?" she shouted at the service droids loitering at the opposite end of the room. They jumped, startled, and scurried to attention as they double-checked the fighter for her. "Yes, ma'am!" one of them replied, shifting in a nervous kind of way.

"Well, good!" Shot back Aurore, eyes flashing a vivid hue of orange. "If my sensor array goes down once, a single time, you hear, I swear to god I'll scrap you myself." With that, she spun away from the cowering robot, and placing on her helmet, she entered her ship. Her eyes faded back to their currently-standard purple.

The attack fighter Aurore piloted was a relic she'd rescued from a crime lord several years back. After... Liberating it, (Yes, that seemed like a fitting term....) she'd fixed it up and given it a new coat of paint, and now she could fly anywhere. Nowadays, though, she mostly flew recon and strike missions for various mercenary corps. As such, it's not surprising she landed here.

She climbed into the cockpit, interior lighting up piece by piece - first the panels which swiveled out of the walls, then the switches in the ceiling, and finally the cabin lights. Aurore went through the standard procedure with childish glee. It had been weeks since she'd last been able to fly recon, and she relished the chance to do so again. Controls out, lights off, sensors on, engines at full charge, artificial gravity functional... Weapons loadout primed, spare dropsuit ready. Finally, Aurore grasped the controls with her right arm, adjusting her hand on the grip. Using her other hand, she plugged a small wire into a port on her right wrist, not unlike a butterfly needle. In an instant, she was awash in a sea of data about the mission and the ship, the information being delayed directly to her helmet's visor. She gripped the other handle, adjusted her feet on the floor pedals, and nodded.

"Ready!" She yelled into her headset as the bay doors opened. Outside her ship, the prep droids were scurrying about frantically, making last-minute adjustments. "Ready the hangar doors! Magnetize the floor! Clear the launch track!" they yelled. "You are clear for launch, Miss Aurore," came a voice at last, at long long last. These were the words Aurore had been longing to hear for all these weeks. All traces of nervousness gone from her system, she thrust the controls forwards.

"Punch it."

As she shot into orbit around Forenthis and out of the gravitational field of the Starfall, Aurore turned on her comms system. She listened to Cruz for a minute, then said,

"Good morning, Leutenant-Colonel, Dearc. Sorry for listening in, but if I could get those coordinates as well, I'd appreciate it. I can join you the instant I get them.

She stuck the channel on hold and opened up a new one, targeting the squad.

Good morning, company! she chirped in a perhaps over-confident voice. My name is Aurore, and I'll be your pilot today. I'm currently cruising at an altitude of pretty damn high, but I'll drop down for a visit real soon. So, who exactly am I supporting today?"

((She just means introduce yourself, in case you took that as "who in particular"))

A strangely crystal clear voice responded through the radio.
"That would be myself and the other units of alpha mech division ma'am. We are to secure the drop point and hold for further instructions. Any support would be more than appreciated as we lack anti-aircraft systems by the numbers."

Back in the hangar, Henry was carefully lowered into drop position. It was almost time.

Dearc gazed over the field before her while sitting in the freshly abandoned apartment, silence filling the otherwise uneventful day. From her guess, the diplomats and politicians were busy trying to convince the other that war was not necessary, that it was still possible for peace. She couldn't help but chuckle a little at the nativity of the situation. She knew, from history, that every politician had their knives at ready behind their winning smiles and soft empty promises. Still, it was worth the try. Lari knows how many times trying for her race had failed only for it to save them at critical moments. As she sat there, contemplating in silence, her radio came to life.

"Dearc, if you can hear me, I need you to find our landing location and send up exact coordinates for said landing. After that, resume your mission. Over." Lieutenant Cruz announced over her radio, quickly followed by another voice.

"Good morning, Leutenant-Colonel, Dearc. Sorry for listening in, but if I could get those coordinates as well, I'd appreciate it. I can join you the instant I get them."

With an amused sigh Dearc clicked her tongue and with a quiet hiss the mic activated itself. It seems that it was just about time for things to swing into violence. Direct combat didn't suit her but, then again, there was a lot of things a woman could do with a skillset as... varied, as her's.

"Good morning there Cruz, Aurore." She said, responding to the hails. Her voice was smooth like velvet and just a note deep, a bit seductive. Of coruse, that effect was almost instantly broken as she cleared her throat and continued to speak, her voice back to her normal low mezzo tone.

"Sorry, brain doesn't know when to let go of a mask sometimes." Dearc laughed softly before glancing around to check her surroundings again, standing up and moving as she spoke. "In any case, I already planted the beacon. It's set to broadcast a burst of noise at two fourty nine point twelve eighteen gigahertz for five seconds in about a minute."

Walking out of the room, her steps barely making a noise as she moved, Dearc glanced down the hall before confirming what she had heard earlier. The sound of boots and the sound of people talking from the floor below her. As she walked slowly to the stairs, she continued to broadcast on the comms.

"So be sure to set your sensors on that wavelength. It's set to repeat a few more times for the next half hour in case you miss it the first time around. It's randomized though, so I don't know the delays. If any of you gentlemen could do me a favour and smash that thing for me when you land, it'd be much appreciated. Also, getting me a gun or something besides a pistol and explosives. In any case, I'll continue my current set of objectives. That is to say, secure the area and sabotaging whatever infrastructure I come across. Dearc out."

As she finished talking the beacon kicked in and sent out a burst of noise as Dearc had mentioned. Meanwhile, she herself took more steps forward until she was directly above her current target. That is to say, the stairwell. Placing a hand on the ground and clicking a button on the side of her gorget, the room turned black and white before a dim outline of a pair of soldiers revealed themselves directly below her, clearly sweeping floor to floor. Whether she was spotted by a random patrol or they were just on a routine evacutaion, she didn't know. Wit baited breath, she waited and watched before the soldiers seemed to lose interest and left. Fortunately for them and her. Well, they may have detected the beacon but she had set it specific for a reason.

"Well, I will be meet up with you men later." She muttered to herself before clicking on the mic again. "Well, tell me when you guys get here. I could use a distraction to sneak behind their lines."

Almost missing Aurore's radio broadcast rushed over to his pod and responded with a excited and a bit of a load voice, "I wouldn't mind the support. Just make sure you don't ruin all of the fun for me and the lads. Their isn't anything I can't take down yet that brute force can't solve."

Shortly double checked his equipment to make sure they are secure and station himself into his pod for the last couple of minutes before the drop.

LTC Cruz nodded, she waited and soon a signal appeared. “Ma’am, coordinates from the planet has been sent. We’re sending it throughout the crew.”

“Good, we are fully prepared for this war.” Lieutenant Cruz confirmed. “Thank you once again, Dearc, and don’t worry, you’ll know when you see us. Cruz: Over and Out.” Cruz gave a small sigh, and looked back onto the Admiral of the ship. O’Cleary stood erect and patiently, waiting as if he was some predator hunting his prey. The signal for attack would be clear as day. “I feel like this is taking way too long.” Cruz broke the silence, “The two nations have had bad relations in the past, you’d think they would outright kill each other on sight.” O’Cleary huffed at the thought. “Two politicians would ravage each other within seconds if you talked about something trivial as bread using nothing but words. But that is just it, they are nothing but words and words physically harmless. But this is war we are talking about. Something that no-one truly wants. You can train, batter or even indoctrinate a soldier into killing, but war is something that everyone thinks of. This is the quite before the storm that everyone talks about. The anticipations begins and everyone starts questioning.” O’Cleary gazed onto the deadlock between the Federation and the Aquarti.

He lifted his fingers, pretending to squeeze the ships together. “Right about now the Federation and Aquarti are done with their negotiations, but the two are having trouble trying to figure out who is going to land the first blow. But the battle should soon start.” Cruz looked at the current formation of ships, one of the federation ships had their starboard side explode with a blue hue. A lightshow began to trade back and forth with the Federation ship and the Aquarti ship. “And all that previous thought, all those questions, all those “what ifs”, thrown out the window. As if it never happened in the first place.”

“[censored], could have at least given us a warning.” Cruz swore to herself as O’Cleary rumbled on poetically. She got on the speaker as quickly as she could. “All Stations, prepare for dropping. War broke out and in 5 minutes, you all will fly. All aircraft: get your engines ready; all pod-droppers: get accountability of your equipment and prepare for violent shaking; all free-fallers, pray your packs work.” She ended the announcement and quickly turned to the pilots. “Contact the FDS Myra and the FDS Torin, they’ll be our escorts through the front line and the Aquarti Distraction. We have to move quickly in order to get close to the atmosphere.”

“Yes, ma’am.” One of the pilots responded. The ship began alerting the sirens to get people prepared for battle. This will be the Opened Way.

*Edit*

Ships were blasting each other apart. The Imperial Aquarti held the line against the mass of the Federation. It was apparent that Starfall had to rush straight through. Once Starfall takes the ground, the imperial forces would be divided distributed in order to compensate. Two Escorts of Starfall had to act as a diversions without any form of stopping whatsoever. The sky was an array of lights, bright enough to even see it from the planetary surface.

Starfall flew by, trying to avoid other forms of ships as well while the two federation ships took the blunt of the damage. As the ship drew closer to the planet, the ship began to form hues of red and orange around its hull. "Ma'am! We are entering the Atmosphere! A few more seconds and we will be at dropping range." One of the pilots stated. "Level off the ship and begin Dropping procedures. We'll drop in ten seconds."

The ship began echoing with an announcement "Attention, Attention. Ten Seconds to begin planetary infiltration maneuver. I repeat, ten seconds to begin planetary infiltration maneuver." The ship's announcer began counting down from ten. The ship began leveling off. The hatches began to open to launch fighters and air-transportation from the ship, Drop pods underneath the ship, and infantry who will be dropping from the sky themselves. "Dearc. As requested, we are conducting planetary assault targeting the coordinates you placed, Time Now."

Jumping sequence has been initiated, the drop is underway, and everything began to unlatch, fly or fall in four seconds...
