Shade had been sitting happily at the desk, continuing to work on his sketches, finishing some of the ones he had begun earlier, while creating new ones of some of the new occupants of the Inn, as well as some of the characters. He had sat there for quiet a while, not realizing time going by, the warmth of the fire heating the room, adding to the atmosphere. At the sound of a man yelling at the opposite end of the bar, he turns his head to look at the source, his faceless mask staring, he sees a man shouting at a dark figure in the corner. As spirits appeared at the man side, Shade felt an odd feeling which he could not explain. He watched the scene unveil, as well as the bars 'happy' tenants.

As he is sitting there, a small pebble bounces off his armor, resonating and sounding hollow. This took shade by surprise as he had become immersed in his drawings. Quickly working to quiet the resonance of his armor as it was starting to attract attention, he looks round, feeling that someone was off, and this time it was not the dark figure but something else. Being a bit spooked and feeling like the hour was late, he decided that it might be the time to start thinking of getting a room. He stays for a little while more, wanting to finish quickly his drawings before turning in.

Porthis and Jormandur appeared next to the spirit binder in seconds. The latter folded his arms across his chest, looking down at the binder, while the former leaned back on his heels, wearing an unconcerned face.

"Is there going to be a problem here?" Jormandur asked composedly, faint blue sparks barely visible around his fingertips. "If you've been accosted by one of our customers, come to us. We may have to remove you from this place if you scare off more business like that again."

Pothis merely kept half-lidded eyes on the binder, fingers drumming out a quiet rhythm on his pants. "I wouldn't threaten us, friend." He said nonchalantly. "We've been around for a while. Loud customers bother people who just want to relax, you know?"

Nancy patted the female orc on the shoulder, closing her eyes in an unworried smile. "Don't worry about that. We can handle the temper tantrums." Opening her eyes, the spider-morph handed the orc her bedroom key. "Second floor, third door on the left. Breakfast is free for those who rent a room. If you need something, I'll be down here all night at the counter. Different sleeping patterns, yes yes."

Nathaniel's head had whipped over at the disturbance, but relaxed once he saw his other employees handling the situation.

Valentine had lifted his own head, glancing out of the corner of tired eyes before lowering it once more, the weight of an uncaring Naoko forcing it down again. The kitsune had barely spared a twitch of the ears for the commotion. Personally, Valentine was quite worried for his immediate well-being, but if his familiar wasn't worried, than he trusted her judgement. Their empathic link was a weak thing, but it did let them feel any significant pulses of emotion the other experienced. Of course, maybe she wasn't worried because she knew (Or thought she knew) that his soul-binding couldn't affect her.

Maud came back with their food, which Naoko began eating whilst still lying on her mage's hat.

"Say, Nathaniel." Valentine grunted into the table, hands blindly searching for his food. "Now that I've found you, I really don't have any other plans in mind. Heard of any interesting rumors, maybe some orbs of power floating around? Thirty-seventy split."

"Not that I know about." The innkeeper laughed, moving his friend's bowl into the other's grasping fingers. "You'd have more luck looking for a job with the Emir or Viceroy. I could use a hand around the place if you're interested, be the local strong arm. I was going to ask a friend, but he's more of the roving kind."

"Bah." A gloved hand waved dismissively, brandishing a steaming spoonful of lamb stew. "I'm not the kind to follow regulations very well. Too forgetful, and my little furry nuisance here-" The spoon poked at his kitsune, who took the opportunity to swiftly steal the succulent mouthful with her unusually long tongue.

"..." The spoon bopped her on the nose.

"Not my fault that you won't eat it." She pouted, finally sliding off his head and onto his shoulders so that he could sit up.

Valentine flexed his neck energetically, sighing in relief. "Hoo! Much better. Anyway, like I was saying-" As he spoke, he shoved a fresh spoonful into the red fabric that covered the majority of his face; in this instance, where his mouth should have been, drawing a surprised frown from his friend which turned into mild surprise when the spoon came out clean.

The red-clad mage raised a curious eyebrow. "What?"

"How did you do that? The mask thing."

"Magic."

"Come on, you can't leave me with that."

"Water magic, combined with some basic enchantment."

"Interesting. So, what were you saying?"

"Huh? Oh, right. So anyway, Naoko would probably get the two of us disqualified for some sort of prank. I suppose that I should stick around your inn for at least a few days, get to know the city. It's probably much safer here than in a stranger's home."

Nathaniel beamed, thrusting out a hand which was quickly returned. "Wonderful! Of course, you'll have to earn your stay. Just pick a corner and keep an eye on anything unusual, and wave someone over if you think customers are getting out of hand. We'll let you handle it if it gets nasty."

Valentine smiled with his eyes. "Thanks, Nathaniel. We appreciate it."

"Well, I'll let you get back to your meal. We'll catch up later." The older man stood up, shaking hands with Naoko gravely as he left.

Maud, meanwhile, looked down disapprovingly at a drunken duo, one of which had passed out after shouting nearly as loudly as the spirit-binder.

"If you don't mind, it would probably be for the best if you took your friend home." She said to the still-conscious one, picking up the bottle of red wine from where his apparent friend had dropped it on the floor.

Almost as soon as the waitress had left, a new voice spoke right into my ear. Suppressing my initial instinct to yelp and jump out of my chair I turned to face the source of the voice, feigning disinterest as I did. The instant my eyes fell on the newcomer I had to suppress my reaction to ogle at the woman's wings. It's not like I was trying to be rude, it's just that this had to be my first encounter with a winged humanoid. Pausing for a minute to ensure that, yes they were real, I let out a quiet laugh as I motioned for her to sit down.

I began to introduce myself, not wanting to look like a brute in the winged woman's eyes. After all, Ashley just barely avoided crushing her foot and I had some slight fears that the woman may be of the vengeful type. "Well, feel free to take a seat. I'm Lily Weston and she's Ashley Smith." I paused and motioned towards Ashley who was currently busy making her way through a small stack of food though she did stop for a moment to wave with her left. While it was most certainly not a polite movement, it wasn't a rude movement either and I took a moment to pray that the winged woman will not take offense to Ashley's... less then stellar manners.

"I apologize for Ash almost hitting your foot earlier. She's not exactly mindful at times..." I let myself trail off as my mind attempted to figure out what else to say. It's not like there was much that I could say right now, what with me barely knowing the winged woman. Last thing I wanted was to offend her by accident and cause an even bigger scene in this inn than what has already happened. Clearing my throat, I decided that the best course of action would be to change the subject as soon as possible. Better an abrupt subject change then more awkward silence. "Well, in any event what is your story? You seem to be the type to have an interesting story or two to their name."

Vytos still couldn’t conceive the situation, though the colored harlequin seemed to be a little friendly, dropping her sword towards her side and bowing. Kat saw it as a way of a salute of friendliness, examining someone like her, surely a sign of peace rather the act of deceit. Vytos still kept his eye of the cloaked figure, he still couldn’t trust him and he wasn’t sure if he was associated with someone a bright as the harlequin with such dark attire. Down the alley, more people showed up, but this time in a far more threatening motive than inquiring one as they antagonized the situation.

Kat automatically moved her sword into the ready stance, all she would need is for Vytos to say the word and she will engage the oncoming threat. “I’ll trust your word for now; it seems we have company, would you two like aid in the matter or shall we evade the brutish pursuers?” Vytos suggested, he felt safer with the frilled one who seemed to be speaking oddly, though he can’t quite understand why it sounds so odd. In preparation, Vytos unsheathed his sword and held it at the ready at the aggressive rag-tag of a gang.
The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Rakamilya

The woman had had several suspicions confirmed by the resonance of that armor. And she was interested in the how's and why's of a spirit walking about in a suit of armor. It wasn't that she was surprised about it, the shaman could well work out how it might have been done, but she'd rather have the story from the spirit itself.

When the spirit didn't take notice of her those little helpers of hers swarmed about her chair and lifted it from the ground before marching it over to the side of the man's desk and setting it down, making sure that she would be in his view. The fetishes would disappear once more and the elf would sit there cross legged for a while. After a bit she would speak, "You no longer be naturally tied to this world." It wasn't a question, but a statement. Her words had been quiet and thickly accented, so no one but the spirit would hear her, and even he might not have understood her.

She'd canted her head, oddly looking like a bird with her mask and the gesture, "How did ye come to inhabit that shell?"

Hathor

The winged woman smiled as the other took a moment to stare, particularly at her wings, she gave them a twitch so that the other could see that they were in fact quite real. Though many assumed that she could soar through the skys, many also assumed that she like birds had hollow bones. While she could fly, her wings were much better suited for gliding, and her bones were certainly not hollow, one of the reasons her race had evolved to glide more than fly.

As to being vengeful, well the woman was being vengeful in that very moment, forcing her presence upon the other two, let the punishment fit the crime. She'd sit down and bow her head to the others, "I'm Hathor Bahet. And I thank you for not screaming and declaring me a demon at first sight of me." Her eyes were upon Lilly as she spoke, but they kept sneaking peaks to Ashley, waiting to see her reaction, if she had one. Not all wizards and mages were sensitive to other peoples magic, though the ones that were always found her people strange, their magic simply felt different, that it worked different certainly was the cause for that.

She waved the other off when she started to apologize again, "No need she didn't do any damage and I'm using it as an excuse for company." When the other spoke, abruptly changing the subject, hathor's smile grew, revealing a set of canines, that while one couldn't call them fangs, they certainly were sharper than most. Giving a shrug at the question, "I was here on business, I'm a contractor of sorts, and I've accomplished my task, but to be honest, the organisation I worked for didn't operate in ways I liked, so now I've decided to stay here, taking some odd jobs while I try to get my name out there in the right circles and start my own organization."

She was careful not to go into specifics as she couldn't draw to much attention to herself till she was better set.

Shade had just gotten back to finishing his drawing when a woman appeared opposite him at his table. He did not notice her at first,, but she then said something, which Shade did not manage to make out everything, but it took him by surprise. "What... Do you .... mean" he said looking back at his drawing, and trying to pretend like he didn't know what she was saying. After a few minutes of silence, and realizing that he had been discovered, he looks back at her. "Very well" he said, putting down his pencil. "I was used... as a target practice .... in a magic college.. But as i grew stronger, and attempted to escape... they trapped me in this armor... To be able to control me better." he says, taking a pause as memories come back. "And well.. I made my escape... with the help of a young student..".

He looks back at the woman, his empty gaze fixing in on her. "And how did you know that i was not mearly a man in a suite?" he asked curiously.

Mysk

Sighing heavily at the workers from the Inn, the man simply gave them a quick, uncaring gaze. He seemed rather annoyed about the whole thing. "The man whom has sense vacated your "esteemed" property did not like what the spirits had to say about him. He claimed me a fake because he did not hear what he wanted." Touching his wooden board with the weird symbols, he chanted a few words in Hastrajal and the air suddenly became dry, clearing his little corner of all spiritual properties, its as if a small weight was cleared from everyone's shoulder, in a manner of speaking.

"I am sorry, truly, for the... ruckus. It is just that with all manners of cheap conjurers and tricksters of the mind running around in this city, an honest spiritualist looking to practice his trade needs to take drastic action... sometimes... to ensure ones reputation remains intact." Nodding at the workers, he grabbed the wooden board and stored it under his robes. "I promise a more hospitable environment for the remainder of this fine night. You two need not worry nor threaten for my cooperation."

During the whole affair, the spiritualist seemed to be keeping an eye on some form of demonic woman that has entered the establishment. His stare was not hostile in any way, more like intrigued by the strange figure. "On a different note... Do any of you recognize that strange woman's race? I have never seen such an exotic creature before..."

Ruka

She didn't know why but the sights of spirits in the physical world always made her uneasy. The way they can just appear and disappear out of thin air, just seemed unfair for the living. The spiritualist doubly so for the simple fact that he was able to control them at will. The thought of the guy looking at everyone's spirit and souls also gave her the creeps, it was like someone spying on you in plain sight. "Its ok. I'll be fine." She said to the spider woman. "Just caught me off guard is all. Although I will be renting a room for the night."

Thinking about things in general, trying to think of something else then spirits and ghosts, she padded her sides, mainly her coin purse, and noticed it to be rather... light. From what she could remember, there was no job posting or bounties befitting her skills at the town square or the bazaars so she turned at the spider woman again. Would the owner of the Inn be looking for a temporary worker by any chance?"

Czir

Still rather unconscious on the table, Czir didn't move an inch when Maud came over. His friend however, seemed rather embarrassed by the whole ordeal. "Sorry if we caused any trouble! Where just used to the life in a war camp after a major victory." Getting up, he tried to grab Czir by the shoulders but found out that the "light" armor of the Yaroz Warriors was in fact quite heavy. "Mind helping me get him to his mount? He'll be alright after that."

Jormandur merely nodded, casting a passive glance towards the unusually tall foreigner. "Probably an elf." He said noncommittally, the magic flickering around his hands fading away. "Do your best to not agitate her as well, please."

Pothis shrugged, raising his eyebrows in the negative. "Maybe a performer of some kind. We'll not be bothering you any longer then." The two went back to their own table.

Nancy frowned in thought, which looked rather unusual when eight crimson orbs did it at the same time. "I think you've found luck, yes yes." She replied, the frown being replaced by another eye-closing smile. "Nathaniel?" She asked the returning innkeeper, who looked at the two questioningly. "You wanted a bouncer after Cayl said no, I found a prettier one, yes yes." Three arms made a little flourish at the orc.

The human's inquisitive look morphed into a more calculating one. Nathaniel seemed to take a mental step back, eying Ruka with the air of someone who knew what he was looking for in a deal. Not in the sense that he would look at a woman, but that of a prospective employee.

"Well.."

He pursed his lips thoughtfully. He had promised that spot to Valentine, but if he was to be completely honest, this female orc looked like she could be much more effective in intimidating rowdy customers without having to flash magic about. Still, no reason the two couldn't share the role. The inn wasn't so cash-strapped that they couldn't afford to hire two more people, one of which (Valentine) wouldn't cost anything except a few blankets and regular food.

"Alright, I can at least give you a chance."

Nancy's worried expression melted away, as Nathaniel offered a hand to his newest employee.

"Here's what we can do. You'll be responsible for making sure that nobody gets too out of hand, along with your new companions over there." He motioned with his head towards Valentine, who was currently wresting his spoon away from Naoko. "The human's Valentine, and the little one with him is his familiar, Naoko. Let us handle it if possible, but if none of us are around, then just let them see the crest we'll give you and sort things out peacefully."

Nathaniel gestured at a noticeable bronze crest on his shirt, which was a mass of intertwined vines with a few grapes hanging off the edge.

"None of my staff hold any nonsense in their heads about all orcs being lumbering brutes, and Valentine's a good man. If anyone gives you any guff about being an orc, just remember to keep your head and wits about you. You'll take the spare bed in Maud's room, third floor, second door on the right. Ask her if you forget. I'll start you with thirty gold coins a day, then we'll figure out something better. Sound reasonable enough?"

Maud sighed quietly, but knelt down to help the other man pick up his friend. She soon found that he was significantly heavier than she had thought, but the feisty woman was not going to admit defeat anytime soon. Gritting her teeth, she began hauling the unconscious warrior upright.

I let loose with a quiet chuckle at the Hathor's introduction and comments while I idly tried to what exactly was she. Obviously whatever race she belonged to was suited to some form of flight or the other but other then that I couldn't remember any race that I've read about with the traits that she had. Judging by how she introduced herself it was likely her race was commonly viewed as evil or something. As I tried to figure out her origins the woman flitted a glance at Ash.

Casually eyeing my short companion, I noticed nothing off about the blond. Well aside from the amount of food that she was eating. Seriously, just where did all that food go? I have seen grown warriors eat less then the girl yet she somehow failed to gain or lose weight A quick glance at my own bowl of stew was a painful reminder that I couldn't do the same thing she did and expect to look the same.

Turning my attention back to Hathor, I let off a small smile to put her at ease before speaking. "Don't worry about nothing. It's kinda hard to shock me now, what with how I let Ash over there chose how we were to get here. Turns out, her idea of a nice relaxing trip involved cutting through haunted towns, monster infested waters, and seas filled with pirates and ticking alligators. I actually had to race away from a leviathan at one point." I shrugged casually, as if such a thing occurred on a frequent basis. Which it did, considering Ash's tendency to chose what she considered relaxing and what I considered 'heart rending and soul tearing levels of terror'.

"In any event, you worked for bad bosses? Hmph, haven't we all. I swear, some people get just a little bit of power and it all instantly goes to their head. I actually knew a man who thought it was proper to treat his employees like slaves and his slaves like mice. Terrible guy." I continued while letting myself relax a little around Hathor. She didn't seem to be a threat to me and Ash and if she did turn out to be one, I was sure Ash could at least hold off the winged woman until the guards arrived. Taking in some of the stew, which a small part of me noted contained overcooked beef and was underseasoned in general, I took the spoon in my hand as a pointed and gestured towards Hathor. "How about you? You ever met anyone like that?"

Allison walked through the massive gate, shortly before it was to be closed for the night, and took a look around. The city wasn't much different than she remembered it, though there were several new buildings from the look of it. With how late it was, it certainly wasn't the time to be sightseeing. Time to find an inn, then.

Not that she could remember where any were, however... So she wandered for a bit until she came across one. There was a surprising amount of inns. Looking the place over, she spotted the sign. The Dancing Vine. She'd heard good things, but had never been there. With a shrug, Allison walked in, eyeing the various customers. She approached the bar, patiently waiting her turn. After a moment, she directed her attention to the spider-morph, who appeared to be the inn-keeper and bartender, rather than the man who seemed to be the owner.

"Excuse me, how much is it for a room?" Allison spoke in a cheerful tone, a soft smile on her face.

Ruka

In truth, Ruka actually expected to do nothing more then menial task like passing a mop around, being a bouncer was ten times better! Nodding her head, she had a big grin on her face. "I promise you wont regret it sir!" She said, rather excited. The fact that the man was offering lodging as well was rather generous truth be told.

Looking around, it was becoming rather quiet as night rolled over. The warriors left the inn and the strange masked one slowly climbed the stairs to the second floor, where he had a room rented already. As for Ruka herself, it was probably time to hit the sheets herself, might be a busy day tomorrow.

Czir

With the help of Maud, they managed to drag Czir out of the Inn. Turning a corner, Czir's scorpion came into view, clearly agitated by the sight of its master's state. "Ok... just drop him here..." The man said as he slowly dropped Czir on the ground, gesturing to Maud to step away from Czir. The scorpion simply moved a few steps forward, only to grab Czir and toss the ragdoll of a man on its back. It then slowly curled up into a corner of the Inn, not moving an inch. "Those scorpions are very territorial creatures, especially when it comes to there masters. No ones stealing from him tonight. I'd also advice not to get into stinging distance until Czir... the scorpion rider... wakes up."

The man then went to his own mount and started to leave. "Thank you for your help. Here, for your trouble." Flipping a gold coin, the rider started to leave, slowly disappearing in the dark streets of the city.

Mysk

Laughing a bit under his mask, Mysk had the impression that the two workers where looking at the wrong person. "Elves have no wings last time I saw one..." He said more to himself then to anyone around him.

There was nothing more for him here tonight, any potential business had left by now and he was not interested in "reading" the rest of those still here. With that, he slowly walked his way to the stairs. Looking at the spider creature, Mysk made a small bow. "I have rented my room before hand." He said rather reassuringly as he climbed the stairs.

Closing the door in his room behind him, Mysk suddenly began to mutter to himself. Taking out a small notebook, he quickly glanced at the last few pages and the started writing on a new page. " Thats not going to work... no potential subjects... to many variables... so many factors..."

((i assumed the City of Rune had a desert on one of its sides based on the large sea port in the image you gave us))

Ir Von had finally made his way to the city of Rune, or at least he was able to see it from the desert and even under the cover of night the city from a distance saw a sight to behold. He decided to make his trip in double time and a smooth wave of his body backwards he struck the desert with his open palm the sand under foot became a solid slab. Ir Von jumped onto the slab quickly whirled his hands over one another in alternating circles, a ball of swirling air began to form between them. Soon the ball had grown to an adequate size and Ir Von drew the energy into his mouth the ball dissipated as Ir Von's lungs filled with the magical storm. bringing one of his firsts to his mouth as a funnel he spit the storm out, it propelled him on his stone slab at remarkable speeds, as the storm he had sucked up began to die he was finally allowed to turn around to see how far it had gotten him, and to his surprise he could have been able to throw a stone at the nearest settlement. hopping off the slab he struck his heel into the sand and the slab returned to dust. Ir Von slung his little food satchel over his shoulder and jogged into town.

He soon approached the Inn and being as late as it was, Ir Von did not have any coin, he could not do any work to get money. looking around he was startle to see a giant desert scorpion curled around a man near the inn. "Most peculiar, ill have to speak to that rider, because that is an amazing feat." he very cautiously approached the giant scorpion. when he felt he was close as he could comfortably get while still being out of its sting range he addressed it. "Greetings noble sand scorpion, i mean you no harm but i have no money to use the inn tonight and wish to seek shelter near you and your rider. Please accept this small offering of food and water as a show of my good intentions. Ir Von stomped on the earth and raised a small stone column up, he set his food bag on it and pulled out a few pieces of dried meat. he set the meat down and closed his pouch dropping it to the ground near him. after giving it a firm slicing motion from his hand, the stone column slid over near the scorpion. once it had settled he crossed his hands over one another in pushed them towards the earth then pulled them apart will raising his elbows up, besides the column a stone bowl formed. nodding to himself Ir Von clasped his hands together firmly and placed his mouth on the open pocket between them blowing hard into his palms for a moment he clasped his hands shut then opened them, as the stone bowl near the scorpion filled with water.

After he presented his offering to the giant scorpion he very cautiously approached within stinging distance unsure or not if the scorpion would allow him near it and more afraid that he would accidentally get too close, but he had to have faith. settling down on the ground with his back to the wall of the Inn IR Von clapped his hands together in front of himself then jammed his finger tips into the ground on either side of him. From the ground two stone slabs slide up besides him crawling out of his shelter he grabs his food bag then slides back into the stone tent. Ir Von lays himself down and talks out to the sand scorpion. "thank you noble scorpion for not attacking me, and if you plan to attack me i thank you for not doing it yet."

Nathaniel nodded firmly.

"Just keep your temper, and you'll have a more permanent stay."

Nancy settled her attention on the newcomer, resting four arms on the counter. "Twenty gold coins for one night, free breakfast in the morning. One hundred for a week, no free meals, no no."

Porthis and Jormandur went upstairs, retiring for the night.

Having finished their meals as well, Naoko climbed back atop Valentine's shoulders, tugging his ears in the direction of the stairs. He nodded a farewell to Nathaniel, eyebrows rising curiously at the excited orc as he passed by them on the way to his own room.

Maud had reentered the inn earlier, and Nathaniel motioned for her to come closer.

"This is our newest member...what was your name?"

Allison pondered for a moment, mentally recalling how much gold she had. I've only got enough to stay two nights, plus a couple meals... Hm... Reaching into her bag, she retrieved a small pouch of gold and dumped it on the counter. She counted out twenty-two coins, feeling unsure how much the meals here would cost, before putting the rest back in the pouch and the pouch back in her bag.

"Here, I feel bad about getting free meals." She gathered the coins and handed it to the spider-morph.

"Everyone gets free meals, save your gold, I can't steal from you, no no." Nancy pushed two coins back towards Allison, shaking her head. "Here's your key."

Allison frowned slightly, still uncomfortable with the idea of free meals. Nonetheless, she took the two coins back and pocketed them. With a courteous nod, she took the key and headed up to her room for the night.

(All good for a transition to day-time now.)

"Bah... I'm out of- Oh, damn it all..."
Aaron had attempted to simply walk away from the scene to continue his search for a place to sleep, before seeing several very unhappy thugs in his way.

"Ah... Ma'am? There's a few strong-armed, idiotic, er... individuals at the end of the alley, one of which being the friend of the drunk you knocked out... they're coming this way, and I don't think it's for a pleasant chat either."

"About time... I thought I'd never get a chance for sparring practice..."
Letting his Ego get the better of him, he finally drew his longsword, the quality blade shining slightly in the dim light, stepped forward, and readied himself to dodge the inevitable strike aimed at him.

"What are you aiming at, fool?"
The first attack came at him slower than he thought, he sidestepped the vertical strike of a club-wielding thug, and promptly smashed a fist in his attacker's face, causing him to stumble back.

"You know, we can take them down, but if you wish to retreat, madam, I won't hesitate to follow."
Aaron said to the harlequin, backing away from the mob a bit with his blade still in a combat position.
