Chris looked around. Aside from the snow, all he saw was their little troop huddled together in a vast wasteland. He sighed. He had hoped the past few months were a dream, but.....well, reality is reality, he told himself.

He looked again. I'm bored, he declared. He decided to check out the people that are heading towards to library. But wait..... someone just emerged out of no where dragging what looks like.... a door.

Nathaniel clapped a head to his forehead. "CHRIS! JIMMY! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? ARE YOU STUPID AND DEAF? DO YOU NOT HEAR THOSE WOLVES? AND YOU'RE STANDING AROUND PLAYING WITH DOORS? GET MOVING TO THAT LIBRARY, BEFORE I MOVE YOU TO TEARS!" He bellowed.

Kealanah let out a bit of a sigh, but headed out towards the library, there wasn't much around they had to worry about. Well the wolves but, they didn't have guns.

They had run into raiders a few times before but that wasn't too bad, mostly nut jobs with last century ak's, and maybe some ied's, not really that much of a threat.

Kealanah chucked a bit when she caught sight of Jimmy with the door he was carrying.

She liked Jimmy, quiet, polite, and very good with his hands. He had even repaired her cloaking device after it took a bullet.

What she didn't like was Nathaniel, too much like an old age officer. Not even the below freezing temperatures of new york could chill him out.

Jimmy balanced the door on his head, picking up speed. He took a covert look at Nathaniel, and mentally shook his head. Bloody tool. I doubt he even knows what uses this door can be put to. His eyes roved around him, watching for wolves, as he trudged toward the library. This thing could give us a good ten minutes of fire, or we can block up one of the doors.

Noticing Matt balancing the door on his head, Nathaniel said, slightly calmer this time, "Ditch that damn door, we're going to hole up in a library. You do know what a library is, right? All those BURNABLE books? In any case, that flimsy door isn't going to hold up against anything that wants to kill us, and it's slowing you down." Nathaniel's eyes flickered back and forth across the landscape as he spoke, checking for threats. He saw a wolf pack in the distance, perhaps a mile away, lazily loping towards the patrol, too far to reach them before they hit the library.

He turned, checking the group, and saw Lewis's hypothermic condition. His face showing a rough concern, Nathaniel jogged quickly towards the soldier and shrugged off his own paper-stuffed overcoat and put it on Lewis's shoulders. "Come on, come on, soldier, just 100 more feet and we'll get you warmed up inside that library." He said, slapping Lewis on the shoulder as he re-assumed his rear position, ignoring his own instant discomfort.

Jimmy blinked as Nathaniel spoke in Matt's direction. Matt did not have a door, so why..... nevermind. Not seeing it as applicable to himself, he finished trudging to the library, and settled the door just inside the entrance. He gave it a good tap, and then cradled his knuckles in one hand. That felt like solid oak. Obviously, somebody in the building had been worried about having his door kicked in. He began unscrewing the metal knob, and placed it in his pocket. You never knew what you would need something for.

"But I don't have a door. Why am I getting crap for something you already got on to Jimmy that I'm not doing? Do you not like me sir? Why does nobody like me? I try to do my best to fix things sir. Please tell me you don't hate me." Matt said in a sad and pitiful voice. [Now the rebound], Matt thought before saying in an angry voice, "Well screw you Officer Dick. I'm now taking my orders from the spec ops lady. So if you have anything else to say to me then you can talk to her. I'm also going to refuse to fix your watch the next time it breaks too! After Matt's decleration of intent he walked closer to the only woman in the group, well as far as he knew to be the only woman in the group. [One of the others could be a chick. I must try and make sure that there is one other female besides "Hot Sniper Lady" in this group. This will help to keep options open and possible rebound relations.]

Nathaniel had blinked when he had realized who he was addressing after Jimmy ignored him. He shook his head angrily. That head trauma he had gotten a couple years ago when a nearly-spent bullet slammed into his helmet and put him in a coma for three days was still there. He rubbed his head resignedly after Matt's outburst and shrugged. "Son, I don't even own a watch, so I have no clue what you're talking about. But I am sorry for yelling at you, my brain isn't working right these days." Trudging inside the building with the rest of the group, he grabbed a few books off the shelves and dumped them in the middle of the floor. He looked directly at Jimmy and said gruffly, "I was wrong, good thinking bringing that door in. At the very least, it's more insulation from the elements outside. Let me get this fire started real quick, Lewis, and hunch up next to it.""
Nathaniel stooped on the floor, and struck sparks from a flint and some rough shark-skin. The old books lit rapidly, and soon a cheery fire was going in the library. "Make sure that this fire doesn't spread, otherwise we're all going to die a bit warmer than you'd expect." He said, taking up watch near a boarded up window.

"W-w-w-w-Warm?" Lewis muttered, his teeth clattering. The sound reminded him of Death himself walking, His bones knocking together under the jet black cloak, the scythe that ripped away your very soul in His pale, fleshless hands. The young man did his best to ward off the frightening thoughts and visions, which was now possible due to Nathaniel's act of generosity. While it would likely take hours for Lewis to regain any feeling the thoughts of home brought him strange, comforting warmth. With renewed vigor, he trudged through the remaining distance to the library. He notices Nathaniel had built a fire out of old books. While Lewis' mother, who had been a Librarian before the war, would have screeched at such an act, Lewis immediately flocked to the inviting flames, drawn to it like a brick is to the earth. The heat actually stung at first, and the soldier couldn't tell that he was actually getting warmer until a few minutes later. When his jaw was no longer clamped shut and he could form intelligible words, Lewis turned to Nathaniel and said "T-thank you sir"

I make my way inside the library quickly, ignoring the antics going on between Nathaniel, Jimmy and Matt. 
I honestly couldn't care less if that man was the highest ranking amongst us, rank means nothing when you're screwed and fighting for your life in some frozen wasteland of a city. 
Instantly upon entering my eyes scan the building for the window with the biggest arc of visibility. After finding the best window I run over, dragging a table with me. I break out just enough glass to give my gun a full 180 arc of fire before dragging the short edge of table up against the wall. 
I look back at the others quickly, announcing "I've got this window covered against whatever attacks us."
I turn back to my table and lie on top, setting my gun up on it's stand and watching for signs of movement outside.

Kealanah had been watching the antics of the rest of the soldiers and shook her head, "Heh, I already have my own little engi Matt. Hey, why don't you help Lewis out, he looks like he could use a warm body." she finished with a quiet bit of sarcastic laughter

Walking off deeper into the ruined library Kealanah looked for some way to get up onto the roof. She needed to get a better view than street level. She eventually found what she was looking for, a locked hatch. Calling up to the front she named the one person that could help her. "Jimmy, come over here, I need your hands for something delicate."

Jimmy finished wedging the door across the bottom half of the doorway, using the butt of his gun to hammer it in the last few inches. He gave a quick look to make sure the safety was still on, and walked over. "Yes, Ma'am. Delicate is what I'm best at." He took his lockpicks out of a small compartment sewn into his uniform. He fiddled around for a bit, and then the lock clicked. He pulled it open. "Here you are."

Kealanah was a bit surprised at how fast Jimmy got the lock open, "Oh wow Jimmy, your hands are amazing." She then made her way up the hatch and onto the roof, all the while giving Jimmy an eyeful of her ever so illustrious rear.

Getting up onto the roof she set up her rifle and started to scan out over the streets. Then she spotted something that scared her, a walker.

"What...the...[censored]..."

Matt felt a little bit of him die inside as Jimmy got to be with Ms. Hot. He even felt a little disturbance in the force that someone got to see some nice [censored]-in. This made Matt take his combat knife out and cut lines in the back of his hand. [I feel colder than that one guy next to the fire that I can't think of his name because I'm so sad right now due to the fact that I've been Pheonix Right REJECTIONed to by the only chick that is within about 100 miles of that probably has no STDs to get in the way of some nice uh chika uh uh chicka uh uh chicka bam bam action.] Matt decided to sit next to the guy that needed warmth and said, "Hold my so we both get some warmth to save us from this cold world."

Christ, I never thought that bullet would screw me over so hard. Wait, was that that noise? Ah, probably just some snow falling off a building-wait, no, there it is again! Oh [censored], that better not be what I think it- oh dear God, it is. Nathaniel's left eye twitched as he looked out the window. Why would someone send a walker around here, there's nothing valuable here, except... ahhh crap. Spec Ops, of course. No other reason.

He turned to face the men. "Alright, heavy weapons specialists, get on the roof and get ready to engage a walker, Ms. Ravenwing should be able to direct you as needed. If she tells you to run, just do it! Do it quickly, before we all get killed!" His voice, usually loud and commanding, had become a much quieter monotone.
